With those open backed ikea shelves they look a lot nicer if you put a board on the back. That way you don't see any cables or anything. I just went to Home Depot and found a precut piece, painted it black and nailed it on. Easy

I love IKEA and some of my favourite IKEA furniture are Kallax units (formerly Expedit units) for vinyl record storage which I own to contain and display my large record collection. Plus, those Kallax units which come in various sizes, colours, and configurations are wide enough and deep enough to place TV's or various audio and video gear on top. I also have two IKEA 70 inch wide console tables with separate protective glass tops in my living room as well as in my media room/makeshift screening room to house some of my receivers, graphic equalizers, CD players, cassette decks, reel-to-reel decks, VCR's, a DVD recorder, and Blu-ray players. Plus, I have two Klippan low-back sofas which are really comfortable and also three Brimnes cabinets for extra storage. Did I mention that I love IKEA? Haha! :)

For cable management, I use hair ties. The rubber in the hair ties is protected by the cloth, and they seem to last longer than rubber bands.

never stack cds without covers. that will scratch them once they are burned put them in its own case not back in that plastic tube. Don't use paper cases or those cd "wallet" books or binders. those will scratch them also.
