Picking up sticks in Vermont. That's what this train is all about. The perfect thing for a Noah Kahan song.

Happy Spring. Good thing you still have the plow out. You probably needed it today..

I got the plow stuck so bad today that I couldn't get it back to the engine house. It's still sitting out there across the main line. I'll get to it later.

405 didn´t really derailed....twice on that switch. He´s just use to always going straight. You know routine, doing things a bit on zombie sleepy way.... You confused it going left. Now he should remember next ride that he can go straight or left... Happy chickens being outside and scratching for fresh "meat". Glad you get help. Flatcars are stronger than us.😊😊

the switches are spring loaded, so you go agents the throw out of the switch, that is neat so you actually do not have to throw the switch every time you go through it. nice picking up all the dead wood off the ground, it is always nice to use the train to clean things up. picking up the wood that will keep the bugs down. less area for the bugs live. thank you for sharing your time and making the video for us to see! pet Mr. Batcat and Mr. Tolken!

18:20 yay spring work. Already did that stuff. But i had to say i just spent 2 weeks cutting and trimming dead trees and grinding leaves using a tractor, while time in my head said "damn i wish i had a rail line in the yard to make this easier" but mostly what i was saying was "i wish i was conducting a trian right now to make this more fun!" Also i burned all of it so it was worth all the work. Thanks for the video and slowly pushing me to build my own rail line!!!

Umm....What is different about the track section where the '105' derails and the sections on either side? Is one or two of the ties higher than the rest causing the wheel set to 'jump up'? Wonder why this doesn't happen with the rest of the cars....... 🙂

There's a twist in the track caused by a frost heave. The ground isn't fully thawed yet.

The derailments are disturbing. This and that vehicle can't be used at this or that point. As a member of a 59 year old veteran railroad carrying passengers since long authorities are monitoring all incident reports. One such railroad derailed and a passenger car fell over. They got their permit cancelled and it took them 15 years to obtain a new permission. Probably living on the wrong side of the Atlantic pond, being too old, help is unlikely. What's Your approach? Making it a club to get members and more helping hands? One 2 foot veteran railroad used the original tracks and they look like worms, and derailments were frequent. They became masters of rerailing. Then... during some years the dropped the Decauville rails, used standard narrow gauge rails and standard (!) sized ties! No derailments now days. And they are a rather small club.

I have mostly old rail and ties from other railroads. I'm working on upgrades, but part of the idea behind this channel is to show everyone that this isn't a rich man's hobby. It's a working man's hobby. You get what you can and make do with what you have. It's not a perfect little railway, but it doesn't have to be. I have a small group of volunteers who come by and help out. I'm also part of another small group of people who have their own backyard railways, and we help each other out with whatever needs doing.

@@MillBrookRailroad That sounds really good. The veteran railroad, founded 1965 got their own line 1970. The line was in pretty good shape. In order to save rolling stock of the 3 feet dyeing railroads lots was collected. The need for a new yard was obvious. Land was hired and laying tracks started 1972. I took part of it, nailing spikes. As the ecenomy was smaller then minimal used ties were used. Nowdays only new ties are bought. Good luck, wish You a nicely growing future.
