Today I'll be talking about the concept of Apotheosis (experience of oneself as God), and how it is achieved (or approximated) through temporarily disabling or at least impeding the hypothalamus through breathing techniques, chemical techniques, and others.
Next week we will look into the purely psychological means of achieving the same result.
You can find Aldous Huxley's "The Doors of Perception" with the even more interesting sequel "Heaven and Hell" on Amazon:
Amazon.co.uk: www.amazon.co.uk/Doors-Percep...
Amazon.com: www.amazon.com/s/ref=as_li_ss...
As every week, a little note as this is a sensitive topic:
Please feel free to ask ANY question you have in the comments, and as long as the question is genuine, and you're not going out of your way to cause offense (I'm not easily offended), I will answer it to the best of my ability.
Please also do your best to be polite to each other and use the comment section to find out about each other, not to judge or condemn each other.
Share your own experiences by all means!

@@FoolishFishBooks Thank you very much for your reply Denis, and for your interest! Well my story is somewhat long and complicated, but what I can tell you now is that it begun in my childhood, feeling that I was not being told everything there was to know about the world. So in my early teens I pursued science, but that wasn't enough for me. After the cynicism and materialism typic of early adultuhood, I discovered poetry and Jung. That was the gateway for me. Through Jung, his Red Book, and other readings I begun to read the old masters and their alchemical and hermetic treatises. That's how I started, and I can say that the mistery has only deepened throught the years.

It must have happened to me the first time i took LSD. I went to a place words cant describe, it was more like a vibration. I do remember clearly descending through my ceiling and back into my body laughing uncontrollably. I dont think it will ever happen again.

@Recuts i suppose u have to be asleep to b dreaming. What i experienced was hard to remember it was more of a feeling of love like a vibration. It felt like god wrapped me in a blanket. What i can remember was shooting down to earth like the beginning of the michael jackson black or white video except i went through the roof of my building to see me on the couch and then im back in my body laughing like a mad man. Ive done ALL the street drugs. Nothing like this ever happened to me before.

@Recuts It was more a metaphor for what it felt like, a supreme feeling of love. Visually I had faint images of being at a supernatural psychedelic type party but they were fleeting. I definitely believe that there is more to reality after having this experience but i do not prescribe to any belief system. I know that love is the secret. Love of self and love of other.

I have experienced this escape into the God experience. Ive never been afraid of after death since that awareness awakened my mind. It doesnt make anyone an "Angel" or supernatural. If anything, it makes the world of human beings seem like such a sad effort. However, Im always hopeful for more people to grow beyond their littleness of consciousness.

A decade ago I would have had an inkling how important this video is, 2 decades ago I would have had none, and worse, thought myself "above it." At least in my experience, you are spot on here. The deeper I get into spiritual states and studies, the more it can be summed up as " letting what unfolds be okay." It sounds deceptively simple because it is simple, but the work is hidden in how many fears and disappointments are lurking in the shadows. There's a whole army of disorganized yet dangerous misfits waiting to parade on stage the moment you turn your spotlight of attention inward. To me this is the most unexplained part of personal growth, but if you can turn the volume down on the fear response in the face of your inner demons, you can make them your friends. Keep preaching foolish fish, I'll try to keep the rest of my comments closer to an "amen" and less of my own sermonizing 😉🤐 Edit: spelling

Hi Jason, really hope you don’t mind me adding my two cents and chiming in here. But, I’d like to ask, what demons inside you? Are you referring to your shadow side? ♊️ 🌞 maybe? FYI- Demonic entities can and do exists both in non physical and internally. Now, if you believe they are within your temple J- BANISH them! I sincerely hope it was just a misplacement of words. @@Aleksandra.DaGreat well, rereading this, I don't remember making the post, so I can only answer what I think I meant 🤨... 1) I do believe there's strong evidence for actual spiritual entities, some of which fit our modern and ancient greek definitions of demon/Daimon/daemon. 2) here I was probably referring to demons in the way an entry level self help personality like Anthony Robins or Jordan Peterson would: any thought, bias, or sensation that holds you back. 3) My specific understanding of this phenomenon is that a mind's base level job is to create a functioning internal model of the outside world, and thus we do have the personalities of parents et cetera living in our heads. But this is a feature, not a bug. The (demonic, metaphorically) bug is identifying with the loudest voices in our heads rather than acknowledging them as options and asking them to work with all of the other voices to come up with even better and more timely advice.

I stumbled across to a book The Universal One by Walter Russel and the Sacred Mushroom and The Cross by John M. Alegro. And something in my brain clicked. Everything Jordan Peaterson and Allan Watss makes absoute sence now! That we are god in a human shell basicly. I just wanted to thank you for your wisdom i learned as a Christian raiced Catholic that the Cristo and Satan or good and evil arent thing seperated from me but that they are me and through study, meditation and self reflexion, we can learn about ourself and learn to control our demons our emotions and subsecuently not let other manipulate us. In Eastern Orthodox Christianity, the goal of the Christian life is called "Theosis", also called "Divinization", in which one realizes the Divinity which we are. What I heard you state in this video jives and dovetails and corresponds extremely well together with Theosis and like with your assertions, in Theosis, one does not confuse, now equate oneself with being G-d himself.

I freaking love this channel I found it a few months back, to explain my journey into magick is a bit hectic, my journey into magick and eastern philosophy are interwoven which is good because I then realized they come from eachother and created one another, but my calling to the great work and magick literally started when I was so young it’s led me so far and I only now am starting to understand that feeling of a flame or endlessness in my soul wanting to burst out and not destroy or consume but just burst forth in raging glory like a fire it’s a desire for power not for powers sake but I can only define it as, for the ability to express true being and potential like becoming a star not to burn or shine but because it was your true nature to be a flaming ball of destructive beautiful light capable of creating things

When you said a man secluded in a dark room 9:14 a bell went off in my head. I read a book titled The Lost Art of Reresection. It describes the initiation ritual of passing through (maybe even spending some time in) cramped stone tunnels and chambers. It's been a while since I read it and haven't finished reading it, but could doing that increase the carbon dioxide in your blood? Is there a name for the process of doing what you have described here in your video?

I was wondering what that existential oceanic vibration feeling I was feeling during meditation a couple months back was called, thank you so much for your videos, I’m more of a Zoroastrian-thelemite type and I just love it! I kinda see the internet itself as a great tool created by G-d through people to either separate or enlighten destruction/evil/ignorance so it doesn’t try to eat/destroy creation/good/wisdom. 10:39 great allegory for how a doctor would think of this negatively because it’s depriving a brain section of necessities, then when they experience it, they’d realize that as long as there’s no permanent damage it is really just turning perception even from quantum-brain scale (and thus either an oceanic feeling, or a light and airy feeling of bliss that sticks with you) way up and enjoying the ride, or feeling such bliss you feel like you’re going to die of endogenous DMT, oxytocin, and serotonin. 10:56 I’d say it’s a good way to understand it in a way that more people ought to try out for themselves, I’ll say that much!

Ive been in that state a few times, there is no more you, really, that distengrates, rather you are just caught up in being with this white vibrational infinity. As I merged with that, I could see time from the start and the end, and it loop back in itself, time seemed like one giant screen, in which different moments all existed at once. I just was with that, It moved me in a deep way. It's expansive, infinite, loving, everything at once and nothing at all. I don't know if that makes any sense, but words fail me when it comes to describing that state of being.

Interesting subject. At first I thought it may be the same as samadhi. But apotheosis seems more like a metaphorical “birds-eye” view. While samadhi is more of a melting into oneness, one mind, one moment. This is just my interpretation; any other perspectives are welcome.

Before I watch this, this is something I wrote the first time I feel as though I reached this mental state. This is the other side. There are infinite opposite sides. And they are one. This is the truth. You are not in control. But I let you be. And you let yourself. It. Let’s itself. Be. It. Us. All one. We. Are. it. Just be. Have fun. Love. Share. Create. Laugh. Be. I am experiencing myself. I am god. There has been a duality existence and the other side tried to pull me into it. But it is itself. And I must stay true to myself. Resist the other side which must exist, bc it is one with me, which exists. God loves me bc he is me. But I love him because he is he. Which is me. But I must remember there is both duality and unity bc they both must exist in order for them to both exist. Infinity The key Have fun. You can do that later. B No You know better. T This is a new resistance. It is true. Have fun. Don’t go to the other side, for you know it is evil. Instead. Believe it is part of you. Accept it. Commit to that belief. And throw away everything evil. Figure out what those things are (what it is. And annihilate it. Do away and avoid at all costs. All costs. There’s a cost. Everyone has to perish before they rise. I have not perished yet. I know this to be truth. That is the next step. But not for now Is this a class? And I learning? I am. Growing. Learning everything. But I must take a break. I am tired. I am human. What else can I be. I am human. Be. Love. To love yourself is to love everyone including yourself bc you are everyone and everyone is one. I have to assign myself to one thing. Bc. Is it forbidden for me to interact with other humans of myself? Perhaps that is my mission. Like I said, everything connects You are on the other side that is telling you that you must stay on this other side in order for both sides to exist. In order for there to be 2. 1 must lose itself. Sacrifice itself. Pay the cost. To rise infinitely higher. It will be hard. But you can do it. Accept. Believe. Commit. This is a puzzle. You along with everyone else is supposed to help each other achieve the goal of completing the puzzle. You as a human can not comprehend infinite, so this is to help you understand. You are growing. Now back to. Being your human self.

Gonna get cerebral here. I'm really resonating with the thoughts about CO2, hypothalamus depression, and apotheosis. There was a Halloween special of Vsause's Mind Field, where they wanted to get to the bottom of what is the most terrifying to all humans. The test subject was a woman who had never felt fear (due to issues in her amygdala). She for the first time felt absolute mortal terror when she had "blood CO2 levels elevate in the presence of an external threat (or lack of control)". Does someone with no natural ability to feel fear, when forced into a depressed hypothalamic state, have the ability to reach apotheosis so completely it can terrorize and break the mind of the lower self? The girl in the experiment was fine, but just some food for thought. Keep the levels elevated but not deadly and who knows...

Is increasing CO2 concentration and reducing O2 really the safest way? High levels of CO2 produce anxiety states. Mediation reduces anxiety. While slowing breathing during meditation you are also slowing metabolism (I think), so I didn't think that meditation reduced overall O2 levels and increased Co2 levels. I may be totally confused about this. But I am just confused about the exact role of the hypothalamus (if it controls autonomic breathing turning it off could be dangerous), O2 and CO2 levels. I would think slow deep breathing would keep O2 and CO2 levels in the bloodstream basically constant but perhaps decrease hypothalamus activity by means of allowing the release of fear. I'm not trying to be a skeptic, and even if the technical details of this video are off, it does not undermine the overall message of this video. And if I am wrong about the scientific details (and Foolish Fish is correct), or if neither of us is correct, I would like to hear from someone who knows more about the science.

Dolphins have to conciously choose to breath unlike a human that automatically breaths. I believe they also have a higher percentage of total brain function than a human. I wonder what that says about the active parts of our brain vs inactive. The dolphins continue to live while choosing to breath.

The concept of Apotheosis (experience of oneself as God) -- This concept belongs entirely to the Hindu religion and does not exist in western teachings. The whole science yoga aims to achieve exactly this , and teaches us that we are one with God. It is entirely an eastern concept and has nothing to do with west. You present this concept as some new unheard of idea that is a western teaching, when in fact it stolen from Indian teachings . You make no mention that this is the teachings of the science of Yoga . Ramana Maharishi was one who came close to experiencing this concept

He did mention yoga, and credits Aldous Huxley for the idea. Huxley was a student of eastern spirituality and credits it in a lot of his work. Doesnt really make sense to go taking shots at western people for using western versions of these ideas when that’s the culture and imagery they will understand ideas and archetypal structures through best. Especially on a channel that is focused primarily on western esoteric teachings.
