Great video Maff as always, with education, instruction and a few laughs along the way. I didn't know it, but I have a couple of those Nash chav shirts too, but I suppose they are cheap copies. :) Like Dave, I lost the will to go fishing, and when I have tried, found lakes rammed, so drove back home. Hopefully, my luck will change, and I will be able to venture out again soon to get back on the bank.

Matt, I'm currently binge watching youtube videos as I'm recovering from a heart attack. I've been very lucky in receiving a warning of what might have happened and after waking up on the operating table last Saturday morning I'm counting my lucky stars. I'm missing out on Tench fishing in Yorkshire with mates as well as wild carp fishing this week. I'm starting to feel a bit better and well and truly have my fishing Mojo back. I cannot wait to get back on the bank. I have to have a month off driving first though and steadily start walking again. All the best to you both. Matt

Wayne when you get the chance to hang that hammock, do it, takes a bit of practice but worth it. great blog as usual matt...can I ask your advice on a half decent camera to do some filming myself for youtube vids?I only have a camera phone right now but want to buy new camera...cheers mate
@MaffTUK3 жыл бұрын
Good afternoon Yardy, quite a regular question this one, and not easy to answer at all, and that is due to the fact this subject can be all about budget, And in all honesty how much time are you going to commit to your channel. I personally know what camera I would like but there isn’t a hope in hell I’m getting one, just cant afford it. So here we go KZfaq and blogging seems fun, and it is, it is also addictive. But the drawback is KZfaq is a hungry beast that wants more and more of your time just like me answering this comment right now. So you need to be prepared to spend time on your pc or laptop. You will also require editing software that your system can cope with. Spending time editing your recordings are very important and again can take up a lot of time especially when learning. Now on to the camera, there are thousands of vlogs on this subject and you will get overwhelmed at what it is you really want BUT you have one on your phone, get a small tripod and film yourself and get used to that first, if your past that stage most folk will shout out an all-weather go pro, (you don’t need the latest version) you can get yourself a great set up for under £300 but it wont be the latest and it will film in 1080p not 4k (you don’t want 4k yet anyway) my camera is a simple Sony HDR CX405 older versions are available second hand for £65.00. It’s a vast subject and not easy to answer. My short answer is go quality gear which is older rather than cheap new to start with some older cannon cameras from around the year 2012 to present day, are fantastic, get a camera which flips the screen so you can see yourself whilst filming, grab one with an optional external mic slot (with dead cat for your mic) But in the end Yardy you may find vlogging or blogging isn’t for you and you may have just spent a fortune and its now going to collect dust. Your going to need to do some research buddy
@TheTimbo073 жыл бұрын
@@MaffTUK thanks for the great advice mate...you are right it is all about budget, however i think if I could film in 1080 for under 300 pouinds that sounds like a great option...And yes im sure you are right that blogging isnt for everyone and tbh I would never ever want to personally appear on camera Im way too self conscious..What I had planned to do was to try my hand at ASMR or relaxation videos that are very basic and simply involve setting up a camera on a tripod and filming your environment for about 2 hours.i go fishing in a tiny woodland stream so i thought i would film up there with the sound of the water and birds at dawn...As for editing software thats another part i need to sort out because I think my pc is a bit old and can't handle much...

Good to see you both out on the bank again , do you think the water colouring affected the bait or not . That's the first time I've seen that and a least you caught m8 , all the best and tight lines and wet nets .
@MaffTUK3 жыл бұрын
Hello Steve ive just answered the same question so again ive pretty much copied the answer over. I think yes is the answer and here's why in my opinion. Unlike the pop ups the bottom baits are food, and good food at that, but just like any other food stuffs you place in water it will eventually start to take it on its surroundings. If there is a high concentrate of any other structures (blue dye) it will also take on those as well, making the bait practically invisible Its a bit like smelling your bait when you bring it in and finding out the bottom of the lake is filled with rotting vegetation and chod, the bait has a strong wiff about it, the blue is just the same, it has to effect the bait as it has stopped giving off flavour and is now taking from the lake. Also even the white pop up will probably look green! under water deep down..... regards Matt👍

Evening, Do you think that clearwater is over fished?? And they have become a bit street smart. I've gone quite a few times and blanked.
@MaffTUK3 жыл бұрын
Lee, that is a great question and I will try and answer your questions as best as I can and these are my opinions only. Firstly no I don’t think clearwater is over fished the reason I say that is that during the normal working week its not normally that busy with only one third of the swims taken at most. Weekends are always going to be busy, I’m more inclined to say big name fisheries are overfished especially during warmer weather. However, are the fish wise to hook baits or “streetwise” in clear water well that would imply intelligence and a fundamental thought process with logical assumptions made from the fish. Sometimes I would like to think that is exactly what is going on and other times I think “what a dumb fish”. I don’t think it helps having over complicating rigs. Fish were still caught long before all these clips and the countless rig components you can now buy were invented so do you really need them? Carp get big due to eating loads of food if I were to be honest I think we get had a lot more than we would like to think or admit. The fish will discard the bait as soon as it feels something different or resistance. But the rig that works today may not work tomorrow. I blanked and blanked on clearwater and when I caught my fish the only thing different I had done was rake the weed out and one hour later they were on the bait and I caught on white pop ups. Not a natural bait in any sense, so do they know they are being fished for? Lee your guess is as good as mine mate. Thank you for that great question.👍😁
@leestarkey28263 жыл бұрын
@@MaffTUK cheers for your reply. Yeah some rigs people use are far over the top. It's starting to get like this for pike fishing. My old military term of simple stupid general works or fall back too
