Most of the melting connectors were used by a 3rd parter source connector . I'm using the original adapter from Nvidia connection on my 4090 went straight in w a click- and I haven't had issues.

the lossless scaling frame gen 2.0 update is actually a huge improvement. I've been trying to find a game where version 1.0 worked well, but after the update the image quality is way better. Works much better in every game I tested. However in order to maintain good baseline performance I need to enable the "performance" mode for lossless scaling's frame generation. The non performance mode has better image quality, but it cuts my frame rate in half at 1440p on a 1080ti.

Besides there being no M3 in an iPad to compare it to, the M4 is really just an incremental update to the M3, so the increase in performance from the M3 to the M4 that Apple would be able to report would not be all that impressive.

he got the update to the power connector wrong. The sense pins were made shorter but also requiring the wires to have more shielding so heat from 1 wire doesn't effect another at the connector.

Never heard of Manli, makes sense. Have the Nvidia 4090 FE, though I could see when you initially seat them they make a nice click. I could see maybe over time there could be issues using them in a case without enough clearance etc.

I am thinking about upgrading my gpu from a 3060ti to a 4070ti super. I have a 10900f and play games like fortnite, cod and battlefield at 1080p. Would it be a pretty good increase in fps? (I do also play some games like rdr2 and elden ring)

The problem with the 4090 connector is that they’re either using it far too close to it’s maximum specs, or the manufacturer of that connector greatly overestimated it’s ability. I do pcb repair and this is very common among many electrics manufacturers. All they see is green and overlook the fatal flaws they’ve made. Another example would be the connector that connects onewheel pint charge ports to the bms. It was being used at its maximum rated wattage, and when they started melting future motion wouldn’t take any responsibility for it.

I just received my first 40 series GPU on Friday May 5th 2024. And I had issues with the adapter and power connector. I've been in the gym 100's of hours and have also spent at least 100 hours building PC's. I'm a big guy, and I had to use much more strength than I'm comfortable with, (REMARKABLY MORE STRENGTH compared to anything I've worked with on building PC"s) to get the adapter securely flush with the connecter. It made me feel like I've never properly installed a GPU before. The design of these GPU to PSU connectors don't sit well with me.

i respect that honesty in the title, daniel. and that actually worth more than just a click. by the way, regarding the new AMD APUs news, if people are about to clamor on the iGPU potential of those new APUs, i will provide them analogues to think about : how do those new iGPU compare to AMD very own discrete GPU that is comparable to the RTX 4070 desktop. i mean the CU, the shader counts etc. suppose that AMD own discrete desktop GPU that is comparable to the RTX 4070 is the RX 7800XT, can people imagine having their 7800XT with a mere 8GB of DDR5 VRAM? thats how much the new iGPU can only get. now go imagine the performance output out of that 7800XT with a mere 8GB of DDR5 VRAM. mind you DDR5 VRAM. not the GDDR6 type. if i want to clamor on hype i will clamor on "hybe" instead. daniel, thats a good idea about checking out mini PC that have discrete GPU in it. if you could provide us the opinion about whether they are worth the price. besides the intel version there is the HX200G with discrete GPU. maybe could make people have more options for gaming on budget.

Lossless Scaling is pretty great for Nvidia users in games which are capped at 60FPS like Skyrim, sadly I don't seem to be able to get RTX HDR to work at the same time - I think it's an Nvidia issue in terms of how RTX HDR is implemented through the shader menu for games, because I can use Lossless Scaling on videos which have RTX HDR applied. Certainly not perfect but going from 60 output frames to 120 output frames in Skyrim is fantastic, and the latency wasn't really noticeable.
