My attempt at another 'Home THoughts' album track combining vid clips from Jane Eyre and the beautiful music of CTW and his love of English and the intricacies of love. Many thanks to all contributors. Enjoy.
I wish I had the wherewithal
To attract your attention
Wish I had the wherewithal
To attract your attention
You are so nonpareil
You introduce a new elation in my life
But you are so nonchalant
I don't suppose this new sensation will materialise
I wish I had the wherewithal
To attract your attention
Wish I had the wherewithal
To attract your attention
If I hadn't inhibitions enough to cope with
Now you come along beautiful and leave me hoping
If it wasn't complicated enough to start with
Now you're making this feeling so hard to part with
Instrumental
You are so nonpareil
You introduce a new elation in my life
But you are so nonchalant
I don't suppose this new sensation will materialise
I wish I had the wherewithal
To attract your attention
Wish I had the wherewithal
To attract your attention
I wish I had the wherewithal
To attract your attention
(Repeat and fade)

@@kevinbeck6785 He is known - to a great many fans, he always was and Paul McCartney and John Lennon rated him in the early 1970's, and like theirs, his music will be recognised for the simple, emotional make-up it is, that it translates and relates the heart of the mind. CTW is up there with the best and it will be seen in the future, better. Second Side Up.

I think that, he did receive lots of recognition for his amazing work... I love him, also, my aunt (who is 85) loves him two, if that's not recognition,,,, I'm not sure, what is..... Just be happy, that you've had the pleasure of listening to his music. It's a shame, we don't have more like him, today.... Sorry for the little rant, one too many gin's...

Once in a while a great musician who can capture the essence of "englishness" comes along, never perhaps quite reaching the mainstream, but for those of us who have enjoyed what he has given us, we have been the lucky ones. I miss him a lot, so thank you Scalpsie for keeping his star bright.

@@argidis ah thanks for that.cant say I'd have known...and I just nodded when I asked him what it said, and what he meant as I had never heard the phrase...funny thing was, Clifford remembered every word and every meaning of every word..he took lyrics very seriously even if it were a pop song..nothing was throwaway..I remember him telling me that 'Gaye' was so called, simply because it rhymes with so many other words (there never was an air-hostess involved)..and he tried to say that he was a bit flippant with the lyrics..but you'd have to say that lines 'you're the tray of nice things I upset yesterday..a display of bright rings etc..' is far from disposable..I think he was being modestly dismissive..

I always saw Clifford as a really shy....emotional ....clever and one who managed to live his songs in the real world....as with Gordon Lightfoot....unbelievably naturally talented...where your mind engaged immediately....in the moment if you were lucky to feel all the emotion in a positive way...if your not enjoying the moment...you have missed real pleasure.....in words
