Great Video! We just did this a few weeks ago and it was awesome. I love the look of the catskills, with all the mossy green rocks and twisted roots coming out of the ground. It has a surreal magical aspect to it - especially when you see those little orange "red eft" salamanders with the red dots on them. They make it even more psychedelic.

Great hike. My last time on that trail was in winter. It makes you work right from the bridge but that's such a great view over the reservoir.

Thanks! I have actually never been to The Catskills in winter. Winter is my busy season at work and just never had time. I'm planning on getting up there this winter though.

Nice hike! At the 4:19 mark is where I saw a huge beat last time I was up there. Now I miss the Catskills!

I remember watching that video. I think I might have commented on it too. There is a particular bear that was hanging around Wittenberg for a while I remember. Not sure if it still does or not. I didn't see it, haha.

Thank you 🙏🏼 It beautiful!! Can tell me where you park to start the hike?

Hi, thank you. You can park in "The Woodland Valley Campground" day parking area. There is a fee you have to pay at the ranger station. If you Google "Woodland Valley Campground" you can find more info on it. There are trail signs across from the parking lot near the campground. It's a fairly difficult hike.

Hiked up here and got caught in a nasty storm. Still made it to the top but have 0 visibility. Lucky to be alive, we barely made it out before it got dark and were soaking wet in 30 degree weather. Fk it I'd die for the view tho

Would you recommend doing the extra mile or so for mt Cornell? I’ve read the view is way better at Wittenberg and it’s not worth going to Cornell too due to obstructed views. Let me know what you think!

I have never been on Cornell but have been on Wittenberg twice and Slide once. I have always skipped Cornell because there is not much to see there. The "Cornell Crack" is the only real draw to Cornel because it's an interesting rock formation, but there are dozens of interesting rock formations up to Wittenberg from Woodland Valley. I'd only recommend Cornell if you're doing the entire "Burroughs Range Loop". And yes, there are extremely obstructed views at Cornell, Wittenberg is good enough, top 3 views in The Catskills.

How long did it take you to go up and down? Cool video !

It will vary person to person and what the goal is. Some people rush and some take in the nature. I take lots of video so going up takes 3 hours. Going down 2 hours. I usually spend a good hour at the summit.
