Fun fact. They didn't have a dog. The script called for one. Crew went to the pound. That dog was living his last day. Scheduled. So the bailed him out. Put him in one of the best movies ever made as side kick to the hero. And then to a farm after filming to live out his days.

I love the Gyro Captain, he's as cunning as Max - he's smart enough to have one set of tracks out from the 'copter but to have camouflaged his tracks back. It's a shame Bruce Spence's character in 'Thunderdrome' wasn't the captain. It would have been good to see two old mates get together.

This is the first Mad Max movie I ever saw in the theatre as a kid. I later rented the first one…and of course have seen every other one in the theatre as well. Each one is amazing, but i think this will always be my favorite. George Miller has truly created an incredibly original & awesomely cinematic Universe. Even today at 80 he makes better action movies than directors half his age. My only hope is that if he has another Mad Max film in him that Gibson returns for one last go as an aging Max in the post apocalyptic outback of Australia. Nothing against the Furiosa character(which i love)…but what a fitting way to wrap up this series of films that would be!

Today I have a Blue Heeler myself and sometimes I think he is smarter than I am. Amazing dogs. Look them up here on KZfaq.

I watched a great KZfaq review for MadMax2. Had to agree that GyroMan had all the signs of someone who treasured life, who had not given up. Colourful clothes, and flower in lapel of coat. Yet Max had objective reality as well. When he was sorting through possessions of dead man and took little music box, he discarded the dice. No place for luck in hard world, for you have to make careful planned decisions to survive. Unlike Han in that Han Solo movie where he loved his dice.

Max then goes to kill him which the Gyro Captain didn't do, otherwise he'd have just shot immediately. Not that Max wouldn't let him live without info in another scenario, but Max is definitely no hero. At least not anymore and I think that's why he never tries to settle down. There was a nuclear war which still has remnant radiation in the atmosphere which causes a strange form of amnesia relating to personal relationships. It's a movie so you can add in your own imagination to explain it away. I think they intended to use your imagination in a different way and explain it as they are indeed different characters and you are to maybe suppose that they are very similar in personality and nature. exercise imagination and your universe can make sense.
