Honestly this mod has made me enjoy playing Squad again - the guns are a lot more balanced between the factions. Can't seem to get a good Squad on Potato farm server though :( hopefully get to jump on with you sometime

Jump on the Potato Farm server...the servers aren't common but hopefully more big servers start a MOD of this - by far the best version of this game...over playing the vanilla version

I really miss the occupation game mode from hardcore squad ops. Creating a large section of the map for both sides to try and put Habs in and making the main objective be attacking habs rather then preset points makes for way more variety. Also the only times ive had proper escorted logi convoys is In hardcore squad ops. Easily the coolest moment ive had in hundreds of hours

Seems historically inaccurate, the Spetsnaz are performing far better than their real life counterparts!

I mean in this game spetsnaz isn't really being used how they are in real life. Spetsnaz isn't an actual SF force but rather the Russian word for special forces. In squad it seems they are replicating "Alpha group" which is a very elite spetsnaz force. In real life this force has been mainly used in conducting house raids or assassinating high value targets. Besides in Syria where they were used for mainly ambushing rebels but they weren't used a whole bunch. Where as in Ukraine spetsnaz has been hardly used at all besides in propaganda efforts of the ukraine media to say they "captured" spetsnaz forces which was instantly proven to be false.

There are many units in Russia that are called special forces. Those that are depicted in fashion are similar to "CСO" (USSOCOM analogy). The guys are very harsh, they act in small groups of 4-16 people, they are equipped like the most fashionable guys from Instagram. Those that work in Ukraine are assault units, mainly airborne troops. equipment and training are more modest, but they are already operating in companies (about 100 people in a company) and with the support of BMD-4M. They are also serious guys, but their work profile is different.

Played maybe 10 games so far with this mod and every time the Russian spec ops come up im on the opposing team. Really enjoy the mosin that some insurgents get though.

This one specifically I have like 200 ping so it's a biiiiit off. Hopefully we get this on our server soon so the ping is better!

Definitely a really big drawback with Squad, it's very unsatisfying to register hits. Just kinda fire around the target until they look like they fell lifeless.

@@rainey06au it depends massively on server health and user ping. If both server is stable, and user has low ping the hit registry is spot on

@@rainey06au My favorite part is when a player hits give up and the ragdoll flops around again. Thats one thing that can be polished up that never gets tracked. Falling down lifeless is pretty much how a kill looks irl but its this weird sense of delay after hitting the target and the server taking a moment to decide whether the shot was lethal or not. I also seen players get shot in the face and be completely fine meaning its a client to server miscommunication.

If squad was always like this, I would pick it up in an instant. While I love the atmosphere of Insurgency: Sandstorm, the pacing just feels wrong.

@@youngkob3408 so, you know how it's supposed to be a more-or-less tactical game? Half the movement mechanics don't fit, like slide boosting and bunnyhopping. Also, sometimes the best strategy is to camp like no tomorrow, and other times it's best to rush. It's all over the place.

well thats how its in real life too, the main advantage all the insurgent groups have is morale, because they believe they are fighting for god and death doesnt harm them, and the advantage of not knowning whos the enemy and whos civilian. they should add atleast some SBVIEDs with massive power so the insurgents have something to work with
