Today I'm taking a look at the new $10 USB Microphone from Five Below's Five Beyond section. This is a full mic kit that comes with the USB mic, a shock mount, a tripod, and a pop filter. At that price this budget mic is a bargain, but is it any good? I need to be doubly sure since Five Below has other similar mics as well like the Bugha LED Gaming Microphone and the Pulse Desktop Microphone. Because of that I will be putting each of these mics head to head in this video.

I've noticed, when using it to record videos for my students, the worst of it is the white noise which can be filtered out. For $10, I'm pleased with it.

Thank you for the review of the $5 below USB Microphone with screen. You brought up a good point about element positioning parallel and behind the steel mesh. A simple cone made of cardboard or heavy paper lined with a terrycloth or felt, will direct the sound into the element, and deaden the ceiling and floor voice while reducing still air hiss. The size of the cone, length or depth and forward diameter should be adjusted for environment and use. I own this mic and for $10 I'm impressed right out of the box. I hope this helps.

I just got one but when I try and put the rod in it won't work, I checked the yellow thing and theres something on the roof of the hole that won't let me put the rod in, how do I fix this?

If anyone is asking no it does not work with Xbox. Got it in the heat of the moment for it not to work with my main streaming console.

I'm super late to the party (just discovered your video by the way). I was in Five Below a couple of days ago and I saw another mic but without the pop filter. Is this mic that you're reviewing good for recording You Tube videos and/or Zoom calls? Is it some kind of way you can download an app on your computer to adjust the EQ to offset the white noise you spoke of? I was thinking about grabbing the one I saw in store and ordering the one you're reviewing online just to play with while trying to shoot a couple of videos on my desktop. Anyway, love your content. 👍

I have the first mic and i am wondering is there any way of changing the sensitivity of the mic using a driver or program in any way I've been searching and I haven't found any way to do so.

so with all that being said how do you connect it in order to use it? My daughter has a Chromebook and Ive done what it said to do to connect but cannot figure it out. Kinda figured you would say in this video since i accidentally came across it but you never said or showed how.

I have a couple vintage Shure dynamic mics, but it wouldn't be the best comparison since cheap USB mics are mostly condensers.

How do you actually set the microphone up for use? The instructions that come with the microphone are not clear.

Just plug it in to your computer's USB port and then it should install itself. After that you should just need to make sure the program you're using to record your audio is using the mic, especially since most programs will just default to the last audio source used. In my case the Windows called the mic "USB Audio Device".

That's That's good idea to run to the manufacturer about having a gooseneck pop filter instead of the other one. Come out with another USB microphone

The end of the mic is on the thicker side, so I don't know for certain.

I would still go with this mic given the option since it's more user friendly. If you look at the comment section of my Pulse mic video you can see how many people are having issues since many devices these days require an additional adapter to use it. Also, this mic comes with a pop filter and a holder that's compatible with most mic stands. Speaking of mic stands, it looks like Five Below has been restocking the PrimeConnect Adjustable Smartphone Stand. Despite how they're presenting it, it's actually an adjustable desktop mic stand with a phone adapter. That stand is compatible with the shock mount included in this kit. Yes and no. You'll need to make a holder for the pop filter that would be compatible with the shape of the Yeti. It would be cheaper to get a pop filter on a gooseneck online that'll work.

Nope, I said you can because the included shock mount is a standard 5/8 thread used by most mic stands including boom arms.

It should install itself when you plug it in. It doesn't require any special drivers.

It's at least good enough to get you started, though you will want to upgrade eventually. Fortunately the accessories it comes with are compatible with a ton of other mics as well, so that'll save you a bit of money and hassle when upgrading as well. Also, if you do but this (or most other) mics for voice acting, it would be a good idea to pick up the PrimeConnect adjustable smartphone stand that Five Below sells as well. I just picked up this microphone and tested it on my ps4. The sound was very bad it sounded as if I was across the room. Now it could be that my headphones were bad but I didn't have this problem on my pc it was great I haven't tried xbox so I am not sure there.

5:23 No, Thats not a solid piece. That actually is just a mic clip screwed onto a plastic base, I have one and it came right off.

I wonder if they changed suppliers then, because my base is definitely a solid piece. I removed the plate on the bottom of the base and I could see all the contours from both sections. Looks like I'm going to be grabbing another Pulse mic, because Five Below just restocked. It wouldn't surprise me if they did change suppliers, since PrimeConnect did something similar with their adjustable smartphone stand that's actually a mic stand in disguise.

@@ClyFaker Maybe, I actually don't mind the knock off mic clip as well since it isn't as bad as some other mic clips I've had, Kinda wish they would have used a shure style one
