Can Restoration Hardware Become A Global Luxury Brand?

COVID-19 has dealt a harsh blow to countless retailers, many of which were already struggling. However, RH, formerly Restoration Hardware, is doing rather well. The company’s stock price had cratered in March 2020 and struggled in early April, as forced lockdowns endangered retail. But by December 2020, shares had rebounded and risen more than 110 percent since the beginning of the year. RH is now ambitiously trying to turn it into a global luxury brand providing an array of services.

I think I fall into the demographic - except I’m only 23, though I wasn’t hugely impressed with their Cherry Creek location. It’s a beautifully done, massive shop. There were certainly some nice decor items and I was definitely a fan of some of the furniture. If I were buying completely based on how the store looked, they’d have my business immediately. I simply didn’t think the store was enough to get me to justify $200 per throw pillow which is all I went in for. The Internet is just too easy to find similar quality at 1/5th the price. If I had more money than I knew what to do with, I could see furnishing a house with their membership program - otherwise it’s not for me.

RH sells HUGE furniture for huge American homes. Most of the rest of the world doesn't live with the massive square footage (or I guess, meterage) required to house RH items. Sure, some oligarchs and the like do, but that won't be enough, unless RH brings in some consultants to miniaturize things.

That’s all that CNBC does. It’s ridiculous to ask why a stock is going up, everyone knows how supply and demand works. The difference between actual products and services however, is that supply and demand on the stock market is based on collective will, brought about by talking heads, insider trading, collusion and marketing B.S. This is why China will overtake America, they provide the world with real productive outputs.

I’m a poor peasant, and I only know of RH. Because the interior designer I worked with, their clients wanted RH styled furniture but on a budget. I redesigned a steel bookshelf case and sold it for $2,000, while the RH version cost $5,000 🤣🤣🤣

you guys are all fools if you think RH paid for this video. Why would they put out information about scandals and negative customer feedback? Also if you don’t know the brand, you probably live in rural areas or just don’t shop high-end stores. This place makes like $3 billion a year without advertising so don’t act like this place doesn’t exist if you haven’t heard of it

Consistent with french prononciation given that it's a french company. Last consonant is almost always silent and words that start with h also silence the h pronunciation (e.g. Hiver, haricot, heure).

Restoration Hardware sounds like a home improvement store like Home Depot. When the name leads you think of that, it's hardly a luxury store. Plus, when people start defaulting on their mortgages, who will even think of buying luxury furniture? The middle class is shrinking. I don't think the 1% can sustain a furniture store with really high prices.

The middle class may be shrinking but this doesn’t seem to target the middle class. For brands it’s now all about upper class or working class. High end & luxury brands don’t really depend on volume like the mass market, but can just hike prices. Along the same lines as the CEO’s quote
@ignazs.5816
@ignazs.5816 3 жыл бұрын
@@Maverickgouda I disagree. Tiffany, a luxury brand, is struggling because the middle class is shrinking, regardless of who the brand is targeting. Same for Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's, Ralph Lauren. They have flagship stores that have closed down because they just couldn't afford to pay the bills on just the business of the rich. In the end, no luxury business is immune.
