I’m shocked that gambling is taking place here.

What I find really weird is how some coverage has been pretty open about it this entire time… but only part of the time. Not to sound overly conspiracy theory-ish here, but it’s like they’ve been setting up two possible narratives for what things would look like going into this election, where we had the setup for “hmm, maybe Biden is too old and getting a little senile” versus “actually Biden is fine.” But for the average person just trying to keep up with the news, it really only leaves them feeling mindfucked and a little gaslit, without having a real grasp on what the hell is going on anymore. It’s been virtually the same dissonant narrative about Biden as the one on the right, where Biden can be painted as a calculating, diabolical super villain one minute, and a brain dead grandpa who can’t remember how many fingers he has anymore the next. Pretty much just as illogical, preparing for the same two scenarios for this election year, and just catered to a different audience.

I don't know if y'all remembered the 2020 debates, Biden showed cognitive lapses in his first debate. It wasn't as pronounced as this time, but a lot of people noticed. He came out stronger in the second debate and that was because he had enough of his wits to learn from the first performance. I don't think it's going to go the same way this time. He's too far past that now.

As someone who still does consume that variety of media: left wing media has actually been open about this for years. They’ve just been laying the groundwork for “maybe Biden is in mental decline” versus “actually he’s fine” simultaneously the entire time. In reality, it’s been a failed experiment in trying to craft a long term narrative depending on what happens, because a lot of people just feel gaslit and confused at this point. “How could I see this coming when CNN said he was totally fine… even though they also said maybe he’s too old and maybe he’s going a little senile, but then they said he was fine, but uh… what the hell is happening.” Maybe not with that much conscious awareness, but most people have too much crap going on to try to dissect the news like that, whether they watch Fox News or CNN, or anything across the broad spectrum on either side of them. But at this point, even people just looking for an overly simplified narrative for their “side” to regurgitate like NPCs are being fed a level of cognitive dissonance that’s become so thick, I don’t know how one can actually make sense of which talking points to vomit in other people’s faces anymore. I mean… can the right still insinuate that Biden is some kind of Bond super villain while also being senile and unable to tie his own shoes anymore, when the latter part of that mind fuck dual narrative is now shown to be a statement of fact.

They got confortable with the press. The press need something to eat, and the Whitehouse stopped feeding them even the raw materials to push at the public.
