If all depends on flag state circular and manufacturer requirements. Annual - thorough inspection of foam and DCP extinguisher & for CO2 - thorough inspection and weight check too. 5 yearly - again thorough inspection and than for dcp and foam - it has to be recharged...(foam and DCP to be changed)...etc

Good video, i think for co2 we need to check the weight of co2 cylinder to know any pressure leakage and need to check the horn whether any blockage in horn like dust or any

Sir exactly can u tell me pin which is der for puncture co2cartridge wen we press lever wer it is remain so wen we press the lever it puncture the c02 cartridge?

It's punctures the mouth of cartridge, however CO2 extinguisher don't have cartridge, it is for other types of extinguisher like DCP foam

hi vikas.. i suppose the hyd pressure test for fire ext is 5 yrs and that of scba is 10 yrs coz in drydock these extingushers are sent to shore for pressure test. or am I saying wrong.? just have a look.

No bro...I am sure about it ...it all depends from manufacturer to manufacturer but generally hyd pressure testing is 10 years for extinguisher and 5 years for scba & lifeboat air bottles. You can also refer Anglo's maintenance manual for more info.

Sir! in the inspection label of Co2 extinguisher there was a column for 5 yearly Hydro test.... but the hydro static test of extinguisher is conducted every 10 years.... then why there is column for 5 yearly hyro test...could you pls clarify on this...?

Yes hydrotest is 10 yrly We have refilling ( recharging ) 5 yearly But it all depends from manufacturer to manufacture ...some say 4 years and some say 5 years. Regarding Inspection label, can u pls give time of video where u saw hydrotest 5 yearly .

Sir I studied somewhere about weighing of CO2 cylinder...what is that for

That weighing is done to check content of CO2 extinguisher as their is no other way to check the inside content, you can wieigh the content of C02 by subtracting the extinguisher weight from the total gross wt of extinguisher to find CO2 weight, if the wt is less than 10% of the required amt , than it should be refilled.

ISO is followed Worldwide including Europe. NFPA is followed only in US waters. For Standard use, all ships follow ISO standards, and even if you are ordering any LSA FFA items in US waters, you have to specify that you want those items as per ISO standards.

You don't need to check pressure in a Co2 extinguisher, the contents are checked by weighing the extinguisher. Few extinguishers of DCP and foam don't have Co2 cartridges, those extinguishers are pressurized ones...they have pressure gauge on it.

Every extinguisher doesn't have gauges, it depends on makers and if you have gauge means it's already pressurised and it doesn't have CO2 cartridge in it, when you don't have gauges means it has CO2 cartridge, so when It gets punctured, it fills up outer chamber of extinguisher causing contents of it to come out via discharge hose.

If the extinguisher is sealed like this, wouldn't it make problematic for the safety pin to open instantly in case of using in fire?

Nope not a problem...because this seals are weak, they break easily while pulling with a jerk 😊

Markings are necessary, you can order the new sticker of the markings from the maker or else temporarily you can type the important things in red background and take print and laminate the paper and post it on extinguisher, talking about rust you can do slight maintenance with wire brush and paint it.

If you are not getting port calls to carry out shore servicing from shore...than still u can't help it....u have to use it....however such situations are hardly encountered as we have to inform company regarding the servicing 3 months prior expiry...so servicing is done well before the expiration.

Sorry but this is wrong inspection. Unfortunately this is unproper inspection. You must check the whole unit which means that you must check the base/bottom of the extinguishers to check if there is no any damage or rust.
