This is literally the problem. Coachella isn’t the same event is used to be. This used to be an Indy music festival where mostly stoners and hippies went to walk around barefoot and listen to underrated music. Then Indy music became mainstream and pretty much indistinguishable with pop and big celebrities started attending and then the influencers got there with their 3 daily designer outfit changes and so the people that went there to smoke weed and listen to mgmt stopped going and now it’s just an overhyped fashion show that people go to hoping they run into their favorite celebrity/ influencer.

I’ve been twice and you’re absolutely correct. It’s a shame though, because if you go “for the music” there are some INSANE shows you can see at Coachella! So if you target the right shows, you can kind of avoid the influencers.

This. I’ve been to tons of festivals, but they were about the music, the camping, the sunshine….Coachella is one big advertising fest at this point. It’s ruined, and I don’t think they can ever bring back that indie spirit they started with. It’s sad. These influencers couldn’t handle a REAL music festival.😂😂

Another messy moment that happened if anyone wants to know is that this year Hatsune Miku was an attraction. As every knows Hatsune Miku does live shows with glass panels to create a hologram that everyone knows and loves, creating a interactive lights experience. But this year Crypton the company behind the singer switched the hologram for a LED TV screen making everyone really upset since they made Miku so dirty in the most important international event of her career. Imagine PAYING for a interactive experience with VOCALOIDs as it is in Japan to watch everything on a small screen like a movie.

I only clicked on this video to see some normies talk about Hatsune Miku. At least seeing how the rest of Coachella was the crowd I saw at the live makes a lot more sense. Technically, Miku's original projection isn't actually a hologram, but the glass panels make it hologram-like. Also, it wasn't a small screen, by any means, which literally made the experience WORSE, because she was just standing there in the middle of this huge ass black screen where only TWO of her songs (and the phase in/out) used any of the extra space. Ngl though, this is WAY not Miku's most important international event. She's performed as an opening for Lady Gaga and done several US tours. It was still really shitty and scammy, though, especially with how much fire they're under for doing the same thing at MIKU EXPO.

If I’m not familiar with how her shows are in US it’s because I’m brazilian and I never had the chance so see her in neither Europe nor US or Japan. I’m familiar that a lot of her best shows werent a hologram, but it was a lights and sound experience like in 2016 and 2015. What I’m trying to say about Coachella being the most important is that because it was the opportunity to show the “normies” that we aren’t a bunch of weirdos, but clearly the way how the show was carried didn’t help our case

I went and it was fun af. The sets and stage effects were insane. I was rolling and candy flipping all three nights, and there was jungle, gwen stefani, dj snake, etc so much shit. Coachella seems like a massive influencer brand trip, because the only way you're informed about Coachella is through social media i.e. "influencer". If you never used social media and just went to Coachella, you would just think it was an awesome yet expensive festival. It almost seems like people are just inclined to hate Coachella, thus ignoring such an obvious factor.

It’s funny because the entire world knows Coachella for the fest but not it’s actual city and surrounding cities, the city of coachella was founded in 1946. It’s a city full of hardworking agriculture workers ; mostly made up of Mexican immigrants and first generation Mexican Americans, also known as chicanos. The city of Coachella is a smaller town located on the east side of the valley - east of Palm Springs ; literally 5 minutes away from the festival grounds with small local businesses including more well known grocery stores and companies and more affordable housing than other areas of the valley. Known for keeping true to its roots and embracing the fieldwork, it’s people, and la cultura mexicana ; Coachella the city is now slowly but surely expanding. It’s a small town with extraordinary potential, the fest brings light to the fest not the actual city and it’s hardworking people, love my hometown but those festival promoters idk man. Also as a local surprisingly the streets weren’t as busy this time around as last, usually people start coming in a week before the festival even begins and this year, streets were empty.

It lost its appeal and it shows 💀 usually you hear it from influencers or social media before YT livestreams. Point is that Coachella isn’t as talked about or hyped about like it once was.

Honestly? I don't know any of these people 😅 I only learned about Coachella because, my boys ATEEZ performed 😬 And the only thing I've heard about the Coachella experience is that they SLAYED the performance and their fans' shouting along to their "Break the wall!!!" could be heard throughout the entire venue 😂 But well, the hype and energy that ATEEZ give, especially during THAT song... it's EPIC! You have to be have been part of it, to know just how crazy and amazing it is 😉😁 However it turns out that ATEEZ is too much for Coachella, the cameraman did a REALLY bad job, filming their performance, apparently, they were not used to the tremendous ENERGY and crazy choreo that ATEEZ always delivers 😅 People been impressed and awed by their performance and the energy of them and fans, meanwhile us who "know" them (I've been a fan for 2years) be like; 🤷‍♀️ It's ATEEZ, they're some of the biggest and fastest rising performers worldwide right now, they ALWAYS delivers and just slay 💅

honestly i went to coachella for the first time this year but wkd2 and it was a BLAST!!! way less influencers and way more music fans it was a really incredible experience and i totally get the hype around the festival now

Honestly I hope the influencers keep going to Coachella. Leave all the other festivals alone, don’t allow them to access other music safe spaces, don’t bring them into the fold. Gatekeeping is in! Lolll
