People assume he was all power and no substance. He was one of the more intelligent minds in the sport. People underestimate his ring smarts. His constant reference to the old school guys is kinda crazy. He was a history buff if you will quite knowledgeable about the history. That Tyson would have been unstoppable if he stayed hungry and with Rooney. He was a true lover of the sweet science.

Buddy McGirt is a grossly underrated boxer and Ferdie Pacheco sucks at calling fair fights. Mcgirt was a great boxer and he was robbed vs Pernell in the first fight.
@amck72 Жыл бұрын
lol Buddy never got robbed vs Pernell. Whitaker gave him a spanking. There`s a detailed interview Buddy gave while in the gym and he said Pernell was killing him with bodyshots. James is not an underrated boxer. No one has ever questioned his boxing ability.

I agree! Percheko was always absolutely useless!

Yes, he really never got his due. The loss to Taylor was something he obviously got past, but think it was always an anchor. I know they say he didn't take him seriously and was not prepared but that was a thrashing. Kudos to Buddy for coming back the way he did though. A great fighter and a great career.
