WE’RE JASON AND NIKKI WYNN. A couple of modern-day documentarians, perpetual travelers, and seekers of tall tales.
We’ve been chasing our curiosity around the world on wheels and keels since 2011. Why? Because curiosity is the key to unlocking life. It pushes us outside our comfort zone, softens our assumptions, and helps us embrace the great unknown. The more we let our curiosity lead the way, the more we discover about ourselves and the world around us.
Our home is also our transportation and we spend weeks away from civilization and sometimes land. Self-reliance and living a sustainable lifestyle are a must. It's all about managing our resources and we’re always looking for new and better ways to do so.
We've lived off the grid for over 10 years now in everything from a Van to RV to a Sailboat. And over time we have learned a lot about renewable energy, creating safe drinking water, and managing our waste.
Our journey is ever-evolving but the mission remains the same: #CultivateCuriosity

Its funny how youtube works, you got people like the Wynns who work very hard and puts tons of effort into their channel as its their full time job. Plus been doing so for years but just now getting 500k subs. Then you have talentless kids with no brains who put no effort in their videos what so ever and they only post once a month but they have millions of subscribers. I just Don't get it lol thank you Wynns for the great videos! I appreciate all of your hard work!

Nikki: You just kind of start to move your feet around and you can feel them underneath there The rock: *You know, I'm something of a cockle myself* Hearing the mud while Nikki was moving her feet was honestly so satisfying. A cockle kerfuffle...well played, Jason, calling it that is genius. Fun fact about New Zealand cockles, the Māori name for them depends on the area of New Zealand you're in. In the North Island area, it's tuangi. While in the South Island area, it's tuaki. *The more you know!*

Hey guys, another lovely video, thank you. I notice that your basil herbs flowering….if you want them to continue to grow well, keep trimming off the flower tops. Basil needs to be trimmed like that in order to maintain the plant. You can also cut some of the woody stems off and stick them in plain water till they start rooting and you will have a new one soon. Most herbs work that way. Happy sailing y’all!
@angelat7140

Not only to keep them healthier. Flowering basil can make the leaves have a bitter taste. Nip those off soon and try to prevent them from flowering again! The cockles looked amazing, though. Great video!

Nikki, I am a professional Chef. 2 easy things for you to consider. Give the cockles a sprinkle of cornmeal. The cockles will exchange residual sand for the cornmeal. Also use the back of your knife to scrape your cutting board clean. It saves a little wear and tear on the knife edge.

Jason: having a great time searching for cockles The oysters: *Peace was never an option* Although coconut palms aren't native to New Zealand now, New Zealand once had a tropical climate and thus there is fossil evidence NZ once had coconut palms around 50 million years ago and disappeared around 5 million years ago during glaciation. The closest living relatives of these NZ coconuts, is the genus Parajubaea from South America

Reminding me of one of the first songs I learned as a boy in 4th grade at John Marshall Elementary school . In Dublin's fair city, Where the Girls are so pretty, I first set my eyes, On sweet Molly Malone, As she wheeled her wheel barrow, Through the streets broad and narrow, Crying cockles and mussels, Alive alive o! Alive alive o! Alive alive o! Crying cockles and mussels, Alive alive o! She was a fish monger, And sure it was no wonder For so were her father and mother before And they both wheeled their barrows Through streets broad and narrow Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh Alive, alive, oh Alive, alive, oh Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh She died of a fever And no one could save her And that was the end of sweet Molly Malone But her ghost wheels her barrow Through streets broad and narrow Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh Alive, alive, oh Alive, alive, oh Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh Alive, alive, oh Alive, alive, oh Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh

Watched some videos from SAfe Haven Marine where they were esting their boats in 50+knots of wind. To land their drones, they use a huge landing net (like for landing a big fish) which they face into the wind direction and then fly the drone into it. Just a thought for if Nikki fancies sewing one together....

We LOVE foraging! It's for sure in my top 5 favourite things about living on a boat- just being able to visit remote beaches and forests to find incredible food. We had jam this morning made from berries we foraged in the spring, pickled sea asparagus and pickled kelp rings with our breakfast- all foraged and canned while on our boat! It's the best way to live.

We used to get clams like those on the Oregon and Washington coast and we’d leave them in a bucket with cornmeal over night and they’d flush out the sand and take the cornmeal to be so delicious and not gritty. So tasty with garlic butter. Mmmmmm…

Brilliant vlog as usual. If you leave the cockles in a bucket of salt water overnight, they spit the sand out of their system. Much nicer to eat without crunching on a bit of sand.

When we lived on the Central Oregon Coast we could fish any day of the year. It was a good life. I learned to only harvest as much as you can use in the next few days. Fresh crab, clams, and fish is so much better than older sea food. Well smoked salmon was good also. Love your videos. We can not be on the water anymore but can enjoy it via your travels.

My wife and I are avid watchers of your brilliant show with two very refreshing personalities, so very well edited and professionally presented. Being fellow boaties based down in the lovely Marlborough Sounds ( Perlorus Sounds )we hope you might consider exploring this area and maybe further south in the Milford or Doubtful Sound locations in Fiordland with its very dramatic scenery on offer. You both are wonderful ambassadors for the USA. Stay safe. Noel C
