Contrary to popular urban mythology, life is clear-cut and 9/10x the opposite of what it appears to be. The laws of non-contradiction must never be defied. There are never times to show mercy to your enemies. There are never times to do anything half-assed. Sensei John Lawrence taught his students the same thing until he started going soft when he started talking to his nemesis Daniel LaRusso, reconnecting with his son Robby Keene, and bonding with his student Miguel Diaz’s mom Carmen Diaz. If Sensei John Kreese’ students wanna blame Sensei John Lawrence for what Robby did to Miguel, they might wanna blame Carmen Diaz once they find out the influence she’s been having over him. Daniel LaRusso‘s mostly at fault because he refused to leave the past where it was. Sensei John Kreese is partially at fault because he refused to leave Vietnam where it belongs. Carmen Diaz is partially at fault because of her unrealistic influence on Sensei John Lawrence. I hope Sensei John Lawrence realizes this in Season 3.

In certain situations, mostly in the worst of situations, mercy is not to be shown to those who truly want to harm you or what you hold dear. When all you do is show no mercy, then all you're doing is going around thinking that any one who challenges you is in the way of what you want, and then you think that the other person doesn't deserve what they have, so you take it from them. You take, and you take, and you take and all that's left is that hole in your heart that makes you want more of what other people have. A real fighter doesn't take what they want, they earn it. You earn it with respect, honor, and integrity. If you show no mercy, then mercy will not be shown to you, and all that will be left of you is something beaten down and broken.

Kreese has yet to learn that whenever he has tried to fight or act dirty (literally or figuratively), it has drastically backfired on him every time. Examples: 1) Forcing Bobby to put Daniel 'out of commission' in the 1984 tournament despite Bobby pleading he could beat him the right way. Then Daniel ends up winning it all anyway. 2) Threatening Mr. Miyagi shortly after the tournament when he intervened to stop him from strangling Johnny then ending up with two broken hands and an empty dojo. 3) Conspiring with Silver and Barnes to get Daniel into the next tournament with intimidation tactics in an effort to get Cobra Kai re-emerged but end up failing miserably. Eventually he's going to re-abdicate Cobra Kai again somehow and it seems like the only way for it to become permanent is by Daniel and Johnny working together.

Martin Kove can play two extremes of John Kreese well... in the 80s we had the John kreese that was outwardly reckless... and now we still have the same John kreese... reckless but his mellow soft face approach to the reckless is crazy... still makes him intense... plays both versions well... he’s in your face like in the 80s but his slow paced demeanor makes him even more intimidating

I believe Terry Silver helped John Kreese steal Cobra Kai away from Johnny Lawrence. Given that he's a multi-millionaire, he has plenty of connections, which may also include Armand (the landlord of the strip mall the Cobra Kai dojo is on) and Tom Cole (Daniel's car dealership rival). I believe Terry Silver helped Tom Cole steal Daniel's workers (including Anoush) by promising them more money and better positions at Tom Cole's dealerships, in an attempt to bankrupt Daniel's business and to hurt him financially. How about this for a twist, because Daniel fired him in the first season, Daniel's cousin Louie, Jr. works for Daniel's rival Tom Cole. That would add even more dysfunction within the LaRusso family.

@David_JS14 жыл бұрын
I have this exact theory. I definitely think Terry Silver has been helping Kreese behind the scenes the whole time, it would best explain how Kreese was able to own the dojo despite being "homeless" (I believe he faked that just so Johnny could see him at a low point, remember that Johnny didn't trust Kreese until that point). Not just that, but Terry had connections with a guy named Willie Cole in Karate Kid 3. Tom Cole could be a relative.
@CastroEulis1453 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was wondering if they were going bring in terry silver eventually. Really, unless Silver is dead or lost his fortune somehow, I dont think he would just let Kreese live in he gutter like that. Once Kreese took back Cobra Kai, not only through force but also legally appearantly, it definitely seems that theyll at least implicate Silver in some compacity. Idk about Barnes though, he was only like 19 or 20 at the time, people grow and evolve. If he does come back then theres a lot of possibilties of which direction to take that character, good or bad intentions.

Kreese escalated the situation which made it turn violent. He made a self fulfilling prophecy about an enemy you couldn't turn your back to because he created that enemy and situation. No mercy is not equivalent to keeping your guard up. And keeping your guard up only became truly necessary because Kreese made it that way. And Kreese's philosophy isn't good in the real world. People don't have the license to act like they are in war zone, because they are not. They exist in a time and place where seriously injuring or assaulting someone ruins your life.

When you show no mercy over the years you end up in homeless shelters at the age of 70 threatening people and being a miserable loser. What happened to Miguel wouldn't have happened if he hadn't been corrupted by the no mercy ideal in the first place. Your argument just doesn't hold up.

But when you show no mercy you become a prick to society. Sometimes forgiveness is the right answer. Look at the Middle East, look at Palestine, hell look at Asia.
