Cobra Kai is an American martial arts comedy-drama streaming television series and a sequel to the Karate Kid's original movie directed by Robert Mark Kamen. The series was created by Josh Heeld, John Harwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, who repeated their roles as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence in the 1984 movie The Karate Kid. Thirty-four years later, the Cobra Kai examines the story of "Miyagi Verse" from Johnny's point of view, his decision to reopen the Cobra Kai Karate Dojo, and the resurgence of his old competition with Daniel. The Cobra Kai also plays Courtney Henggeler, Xolo Mariduena, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Dechenzo, Martin Kove, Vanessa Rubio and Peyton List. This series boasts high ratings on both KZfaq and Netflix and has received widespread positive reviews from critics. The third season was also nominated for an "Outstanding Comedy Series" at the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards. The first season started on KZfaq Red in 2018 and the second season continued in 2019. After the production of the third season was completed, KZfaq decided to stop producing the original scripted show and leave the show without a house. Netflix acquired the series in June 2020 and released the third season on January 1, 2021. Netflix expanded the series to the fourth season, released on December 31, 2021. The fourth season of the Cobra Kai was released on Netflix on December 31, 2021 and consists of 10 episodes. This series is a direct sequel to the four original films of The Karate Kid franchise, focusing on the characters of Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, more than 30 years after the original film. Following the first two seasons on KZfaq, Netflix will release the second season. There are 12 protagonists in the season, nine of which are back from the previous season, two are added to the main cast after being repeated in the previous season, and one is a newcomer to the series that repeats the role from the franchise. Nariyoshi Miyagi (Mr. Miyagi) is a fictional karate master in The Karate Kid film series who mentors Daniel LaRusso and Julie Pierce. The battle for the soul of the Valley may be over, but the war is just beginning. Cobra Kai Season 5 premieres 9 September only on Netflix. Following the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, Sensei Terry Silver is expanding the Cobra Kai empire and trying to make his "No Mercy" style of karate the only game in town. With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence setting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he's caused, Daniel LaRusso must call on an old friend for help.

It makes sense tho... Mike did some illegal stuff that order by Silver. As a result he was completely banned from karate which was his passion and the contract was not fulfilled. Now before Terry pulling the strings, Barnes was set! He’s married and has a business which Terry took away just for the small interaction with Daniel and Chozen. The man lost everything again from the same guy!

Yo what’s crazy is me and my friend watched all of season 5 together and when kreese got stabbed I was like “he’s not dead, he’s faked his death multiple times before so idk.” And after we watched to the end of the episode I saw he was alive. And the first thing I hear is “OMG YOU WERE RIGHT!” And we just started laughing

Terry said it in s4 that Daniel was easy to manipulate. He just had to wind him up and let him go. This was a massive break through for Daniel because he truly was humbled in s5.

I really loved the scene in Episode 5 when Johnny helps Daniel through his struggles. Daniel just bursts into his house and calls him a pussy, but instead of being riled up Johnny just says "What are you doing, man?" and calmly sits him down and has a talk with him. That was NOT what he would've done back in Season 1. Such amazing development with his character.

I honestly think this is right on par with season 1. Season 1 and 5 are absolutely incredible. Seasons 2, 3, and 4 were good buildup but season 5 was all payoff and awesome character resolution. I had a huge smile on my face so many times. I think it was perfect and honestly I do not even think there should be a season 6.

I totally agree, this season had everything from the previous seasons (as far as themes, romance, drama, revenge/striking first and many other story elements). For me this was the best season. The only thing I could say wasn't as good as the past was the final fight for Daniel. I think Kreese versus Daniel was more intense and had better choreography.

@@bodhixxx1 can't entirely blame you. Yes this season was decent in my opinion but I felt like the writers kinda fumbles the ball after season 3. The first half of season 5 mostly focuses on Johnny and Carmen's relationship (which is weird that they had like 3 or 4 episodes focusing on it instead of facing the real threat Terry Silver), and focuses too much on their drama with their baby coming.

We will. I think Kreese will join up with the other sensei of Kobra Kai. (He obviously knows her from training at her grandfathers dojo when she was a young girl). They will use her students from her home country to fight the Sekai Taikai. The only alternative to that theory is that still happens, but Kreese joins Miyagi Do instead of kobra kai to win the Sekai Taikai.

Cobra kai season 5 is definitely my favourite season but there are some flaws 1) we never saw everyones initial reactions to everything that happened in the season 4 finale (we never saw johnny and daniels initial reaction to kreese going to prison, we never saw sams initial reaction to miguel going to Mexico, etc) 2) the whole mexico storyline was easily the worst part of the season and had no impact whatsoever, like does miguel even find out who he is after meeting his dad 3) the writers are just adding random people to this show (like kenny, kim, the cobra kai senseis) 4) this season treats karate like a superpower like kenny instantly masters the silver bullet after only seeing it twice, irl, if you want to pull off a technique with that speed and trajectory, you would have to actually train but no in this show, someone like kenny instantly posses it like a superpower, i do miss back in season 1 when karate was being treated like a martial art where kids had to train for (like robby actually training to master the two legged kick) 5) the writers completely forgot about the s4 deal where if cobra kai wins the tournament, daniel and johnny are done teaching (like johnny and daniel go back to teaching students in s5, wtf)

So happy this season was good!! Over all, I loved Cobra Kai and if this is the end, I can live with that. Let it end on a high note. I rate them 1, 3, 5, 2 & 4. Thankfully, none of the seasons sucked, but there were some that were better than others.

Sense Kreese is out of jail now, what the heck are they gonna do with him? Silver and cobra Kai are pretty much gone. Kreese is your only villian left. Maybe the bad guy in the 1994 film comes back? Mike Barns bring a good guy made me way to happy. Chozen is the best character this season hands down. He’s hilarious. The fact he loved Daniels ex is good too. Maybe in season 6, they’ll get together and maybe we’ll see the girl Myagi trained in season 6 too. Idk what season 6 will be but my mind still needs to comprehend this season. It hit me hard.

Probably, because Johnny has solved most of his past issues and finally moves forward with his life, while Daniel, despite moving on with his life, he has many unresolved issues he never got over that now moved him backwards, so it was his time to face them. The final chapter of Johnny's development I feel will be the one with Kreese and his father.. 🤔

Kreese has faked his death 3 times now. Once in KK3 as part of Silver's big plan. Twice somewhere between the KK films and CK, when Johnny and Daniel think he's dead. And thirdly in CK S5, to get out of prison.

As soon as Cody Leach gave it a less than favorable review I knew I would love it. To me this season was all payoff and the best season since the original. Maybe even as good as the original. Logic goes out the window and you must enjoy the ride. The only cringe moment was Carmen being knocked up but it's kinda realistic if you think about it.

I'm glad Daniel is finally becoming the man Miyagi knew he could be. I hope Mike sticks around for the next season. I think he could be another good mentor for the kids as well as good ally for Daniel and Johnny. And seeing Chozen become more comfortable with himself, with others makes me feel good about the world.

The plot armor of having Johnny almost dead beating all the Cobra Kai senseis almost alone, and Daniel defeating Silver in an one sided fight ruined the season for me. Before this happened, Johnny and Chosen admited they struggled against just one of those senseis and now Johnny easily defeated them, and Silver kicked Daniel's ass by putting him in the hospital and in the final episode Daniel defeats him easily without Silver doing anything

At least you can say that Silver fought with Chozen first and he was tired so Daniel took him down at his weakest point.. The Johnny moment was some type of anime will power.. 😂 The finale wasn't my cup of tea either.. I wish it was a bit more balanced, instead of all the good guys winning and the bad guys losing.. 😌

I agree that Johnny beating all the Cobra Kai sensei was a little bullshit but to be fair, Johnny and Chosen combined were roughly equal to one Cobra Kai sensei when using martial arts. Johnny was rage boosted/adrenaline plus was NOT using martial arts at that point. He was fighting with intent to seriously injure, you can definitely make the argument that a bloodlusted man would stand a way better chance of winning than he would've previously since he was no longer fighting within the restrictions and rules of martial arts. He was just doing all he can to win. As for Daniel and Silver? He used his own moves to beat him, he never lost to Silver because he was weaker than him. He lost to silver because he was morally better than him, Silver fought to win and win only for the satisfaction of if. Daniel was fighting with intentions to defend his family so he was willing to fight without mercy in that moment. Pretty valid if you ask me

Petty drama is basically what this show is about! It's awesome but soo cheesy and frustrating at the same point. If everyone would put on their big boy/girl pants and talk, 99% of the problems wouldn't be a problem. Nonetheless, I still love every second of it even when it makes me cringe.

YES to: Kreese's prison arc (the best part from all aspects ♥️) Mexico arc Chozen Miguel - Robby making up Taikai Silver's mind games to Daniel Tory - Devon bonding (even though it wasn't enough) Sam's understanding of Tory's situation (needed more of that instead of Stingray seriously..) Mike Barnes being a good guy (didn't need another rival holding a grudge against Daniel.. 😂) NO to: Sam - Miguel drama (let that relationship rest in peace please.. 🙏) The Waterpark The multiple senseis Penis Breath betrayal Unnecessary fight scenes Johnny's plot armour Terry's end (I wasn't satisfied with his fall. To be frank, I felt kinda sad.) The final two episodes in general (they were the ones that kinda ruined it for me. It felt like I was watching a different show.. 😅) Season 5 was definitely not my favourite, but it wasn't bad. It brought me the most excitement and the most disappointment at the same time, compare to the previous seasons.

Yeah I didn’t like the way Silver went out. I felt like he should of went out a different way. Plus I didn’t like the fact that Chozen has feeling for Kumiko it seems so unrealistic. Especially since in Karate kid 2 he pulled a knife to her throat and now all of a sudden he’s in love with her, makes no sense to me. I didn’t like the fact that there was no Shawn this season would of loved to see him and Kenny collaborate in some way. I was also disappointed that there was no Julie this season. But overall, this season was good but not my favourite season.

@@terry-annfrancis1252 Yeah, the Kumiko - Chozen thing kinda felt out of place, but I wasn't that mad about it. To my eyes it mostly felt like they were trying to give a partner to every single friend of Daniel's, so that everyone could be happy.. 😅 About Shawn, I thought he would have gotten out of juvie after all this time, cause in the last season I thought they said he was close of getting out, but attacked a guard and his stay was expanded.. 🤔 Personally, I'm kinda glad they didn't bring him back, given how this season was structured. With so many plotlines, I can't imagine adding Shawn to the mix. Though, I would prefer him as a main guy over Kenny.. Julie may come back in last season as a cameo.. I first thought they would bring her back to fight Kim, but I don't know anymore.. 😅😅😅

I think with the Silver ending, it was perfect. Silver has been dominant, playing the strings and manipulating people with no consequences to his own gratification for two whole seasons. Having someone he manipulated from childhood to find him already mentally losing control and feeling fear cause of something he did, then Daniel humiliating him so badly with his own method for payback with the past two seasons and KK3 is the ultimate price Terry deserved. This is coming from a Terry Silver fan.

@@kyleb7974 I'm sorry, but I don't feel it.. 😅 I don't say Silver didn't do inexcusable shitty stuff -- especially to Mike and Tory-- but in season 5 whatever happened to Daniel was only cause he provoked him. He had across him a man he considered sick and twisted and still instigated situations, while Terry didn't even bother him. That's why his fall pissed me. I didn't feel Terry was the super bad guy he was in KK3 that was to blame for everything to feel satisfied..

I think the last season will be the best season cause I'm sensing that the Sekai Tekai would be like the World Cup Finals vibe for our characters In anime terms it's going to be as big and memorable as the Chunin Exam, Tournament of Power, Kengan Annihilation Tournament etc... can't wait to see what new enemies or competition are they going to faced next season.

My only gripe with this season was Carmen’s pregnancy because it is making the show damn near feel completely different. This is supposed to be Cobra Kai, not Fuller House (or as Kreese put it, a karate dojo not a knitting class). This story arc gives me concern that the show’s legacy may fall flat on its face with a lackluster conclusion; similar to what has happened with other series, a recent example being Game of Thrones. I am not sure where the writers are going with this, but it seems contradictory to the show’s overtones and principles to make it seem like the key to Johnny’s redemption and “making things right” is knocking up another girlfriend. Not to mention there are a ton of other issues, ranging from his drinking problem, finances, juggling reconciliation with Robby, and Carmen’s desperation for a “second chance at love”. Despite my skepticism, I still have faith in the writers and intend to see how it all plays out.

The best season yet. I am halfway through it. Silver is back and he is more sinister than ever. I was only 10 when Karate Kid 3 came out. So seeing a villian come back from my childhood is surreal. People have shit on Karate Kid 3 for years. This series is redemtion. It shows people that KK 3 was actually a good movie. I like how they brought back Robin Lively. I never thought I would see her again. The writers are geniuses. It was perfectly made. 👍👍👋

I'm calling ot. Next season will be 'COVID Kai'! Johnny shouts "QUIET!" at anyone who tells him to wear a mask. The senseis teach on Zoom. Johnny opens the dojo anyway. Karate fights over toilet paper. Daniel teaches "mask on, mask off".
