The acting by Billy Zabka when telling Miguel about Robby is INCREDIBLE
@evelynwilson15665 жыл бұрын
, The acting was good but it was a horrible scene. I can sympathise with why Johnny wasn't able to be at his son's birth - not even all that big a deal, many fathers cannot get to their children's births and its only in the past twenty or thirty years that it even became a thing that men did. I empathise with him for feeling terrible about that, but what about the rest of Robbie's life? Where has he been? Then to sit there and say that to a boy like Robbie, whose Mum had to leave his violent Dad for safety ...just awful.
@rodrigokiller4 жыл бұрын
@@evelynwilson1566 why would you want to know each detail of his life? Can't you imagine? Can't you predict? Like, what if he spent 2 weeks avoiding going in there, and when he tried, he gets in a fight with his wife, and it got worse and worse to a point that he is not allowed to visit his son and get divorced? This is only something that I made up in my mind, could be anything else. Just try to figure out possibilities that are completely different from what you are thinking on.

It parallels Daniel and Miyagi in that Miyagi lost his kid while Daniel lost his dad. This takes that, but takes a different spin on it, instead of death getting in the way like Miyagi's kid and Daniel's dad, it's alienation that Miguel's dad and Johnny gave that brings them close together.

This is an aspect of it I'm finding annoying to be honest. It's unrealistic and I think it's been milked for all the humour it can yield now, because his level of ignorance is so unbelievable. The eighties were great but most folk I know in their forties, fifties and beyond are almost as tech savvy as the youngsters, whether or not we want to be.
@danielbrown17245 жыл бұрын
@@evelynwilson1566 yes, I agree, however Johnny's not supposed to represent all or even most people that age. He's a unique character that has essentially shielded himself from the outside world since he lost to Daniel LaCrotch-o

so he gave up on on life because he lost an under18 regional karate tournament? That's all he needed to 'shield''' himself from the outside world? If only we all had that luxury. Most of us have to get over feeling sorry for ourselves because someone else did better than us.

@@evelynwilson1566 the screen culture really only took off in 2010s when smart phones started overtaking the market and I believe most American households didn't own computers till late 2000s when they became more affordable. It can make sense that Johnny just happens to be a guy isolated from outside life due to 1. separation from baby momma, 2. Alienated by son, 3. lost his mom-only person to care for him,4. sensie who was like a father figure turned on him; let's not forget it's probable he spent time in and out of jail between 80s-cobra kai due to the constant fights he picks. (Season 1 episode 1 hints at this when his step dad bails him out). Am I trying too hard to defend the shows realism, maybe. But when you consider all this, I think it does pardon the questionable writing. Though I do feel they are milking a few aspects, but they have to and personally I don't see it as a huge problem Btw My parents are 50 and they are not tech savvy

I have friends in similar situations or worse. I don't relate to Johnny at all. He's self-pitying, he twists everything to blame other people for his mistakes and he passed on a set of beliefs to his students that are going to ensure that many of them will end up having his same attitude. Sure he's got a a kind heart he's he'srt but his but his stupidity and 'dog that's been kicked too often' attitude grates. I'm watching for Daniel and his family, flaws, money and all. All these years we watched Danny's point of view and now we see Johnny's . He isn't a bad guy he only wanted a father and instead of that he took an uncaring stepdad and a really bad teacher . No wonder he acted the way he did . He he was with Miyagi he and Danny could have been friends.

@Thomas Marshall I checked William Zabka's profile. He was never in any soap operas. I think you're mixing him up with Sean Kanan (Mike Barnes), who has an extensive soap opera career with General Hospital, The Young and The Restless, and The Bold and The Beautiful.

It kind of makes me mad that nobody notices that Johnny was a champion more than Daniel LaRusso. Maybe it’s because Daniel is more famous than Johnny 🤔?
@alvexok55234 жыл бұрын
It's because people pay more notice to the champion who started off as the weakest at the beginning. Johnny was always tough and people always believed he could become a karate champion. Daniel started out as a weaker bully victim, and that gave him a longer tougher climb towards becoming a champion than Johnny had
