Saying shit like oh she was underage but wanted to, or she was drunk, or why did she go home with him is so awful for all victims. It’s the same with male victims being dismissed especially by other men saying oh you’re lucky she’s hot, or how could you not fight a woman off. It is interesting because I had a lot of men when I was an older teen tell me I was mature for my age, and even now in my late twenties I believe that I was mature FOR MY AGE, but I wasn’t mature enough for serious relationships and decisions for sure. I recently was talking to an older cousin about how it’s weird to see some family members growing up, getting married and having kids, and I asked if she felt that way about me too. She said “no, your whole life you’ve acted like an adult more than anyone I’ve ever met so it doesn’t feel as weird, but I never would have told you that when you were a teen because I didn’t want you to feel like you should be making adult decisions.” I think that was a lightbulb moment for me, in the sense that a person may actually be mature compared to their peers, but we shouldn’t be putting the burden of being an adult on children who are so innocent they don’t even realize being an adult is burdensome.

Beyond that being “mature for your age” isn’t a compliment or a good thing. 9/10 people who are “mature for their age” were adultified at a young age. From personal experience I can understand that while I was more responsible than my peers (out of necessity) my inner child was never properly nurtured and so I was simultaneously “mature” ie responsible and emotionally underdeveloped because I didn’t get those tools. Instead I just bottle up my problems and kept it pushing the best as I could. It’s such a mind trip to grow up and realize the severe deficits that develop when kids are expected to act like adults. It is very common for Mature children to remain emotionally immature adults.

As a (recovering) former Cody fan who hit my limit when the info about C*lby being a groomsman came out, what's appalling is his community had known about the accusations and disciplinary history at Duke for a long time. I cant speak for every long-time fan, obviously, but quite a few of us knew and Cody definitely knew it was getting attention back then. He stopped featuring C*lby on all of his socials a few years ago and while I wasn't gonna go ahead and assume the man was fully dropped after years of friendship because of internet sleuths and hate.. I was still disappointed when it became obvious that they've remained THIS close and that Kelsey was associating with him too. I'm a victim of SA myself, I know that friends of the offender often struggle with the concept of their bro being an actually awful person (or have very little grasp of the seriousness of the situation, lots of men are that dense after all), but for someone as conscious of his image as Cody seemed to be in years past, he wrecked the hope that some people had of him being a decent person (by keeping that r*pist as a super close friend this whole time) by forgetting that his wedding would be a public spectacle - actually no, he knew it would be a public spectacle, but he forgot that he had fans who knew C*lby's past and that he'd be clocked for it instantly. Rant over, I fucking hate these men so I love to have a reason to vent LMAO

when i was seventeen i was very minorly sa’d and it destroyed my entire life. i have had an extensive trauma history throughout childhood and adolescence, things that were far worse than the sa. i couldn’t figure out why i that situation of all the things i’d been through was so traumatizing-one day my therapist told me that she had a client who was groped on the breast and she had another client who was molested her entire life by her father. the client that was groped could not get past it or move on and the other was able to move through therapy and continue living her life relatively unaffected by the trauma. trauma manifests differently in every single person and our abilities to deal with different types of trauma differ from person to person. i bring this up to say that tana has talked about being genuinely unaffected by the sa, not viewing it as a traumatic event but knowing it was morally wrong. i think that’s so important. just because someone is largely unaffected by something doesn’t make it okay. the reason sa isn’t legal or moral is because most of the time emotional damage is inflicted and the potential for that emotional damage is even greater. not every 17 year old that gets preyed on will carry the trauma through their life-but the great potential that they will is why you can’t touch (of any kind) people without consent.

Not saying this as any sort of excuse for anyone in this situation, but I just wanted to clarify that technically the whole "brain fully developed by 25" thing is actually just a very broad average of all people (male & female), not any kind of actual biological "deadline" so to say. I.e. that might not actually be an accurate number for a lot of people. The NIH has a study I was actually just looking at recently, talking about how the age a given individual's brain reaches "full maturity" is actually extremely dependent on the circumstances they were raised under, stresses they had to endure in adolescence/early adulthood, etc. with some people reaching full development by 20-22 (likely due to necessity because of life circumstances) and others not reaching it until potentially as late as 29-30 (potentially because they weren't forced to "grow up quickly" as a teen, for example). Impulse control also develops notably slower in men than in women.

Whether or not it was traumatic for Tana is irrelevant. It could have been any other 17yo or even 18 yo and it would still be disturbing, especially as Kody Co was a big KZfaqr before Tana and had more influence. As for Cody’s friend, the men who your boyfriend/friends hang around with reflect their morals, what they’re willing to tolerate, and the behavior they are willing to enable. You are who you hang out with. I personally believe Kelsey may not have known this-and if she just found out, my heart deeply aches for her. For me personally, it was more disturbing to find out about the things that my ex would tolerate, joke about, and enable with his “boys” than finding out that he had cheated on me. It makes you second guess the very person you are with, and their values as a human. I also believe that individuals who curate their KZfaq career around calling out others and making fun of the creeps on this platform have a responsibility to be held to a higher standard. The higher the high horse you sit on, the harder you’ll fall if you fail to uphold those moral you put every one else against

i unsubscribed to cody a while ago when the tana situation came out. i met cody and kelsey recently and they were both really sweet and i thought "huh, i wonder why i unsubscribed from both of them?" because i really havent seen anybody talk about this situation in a while and completely forgot... glad im still unsubscribed bc this is repulsive

Cody is so sinister for hiding this but Kelsey is just as bad. As a woman especially to knowingly turn a blind eye and even participate in the silencing of a victim. Disappointing

And a few creatrs who quit like Africanoboi and the key of awesome and Machinima was good ay am I right??? Old internet. But trust me. Since I was a kid. Shane dawson Illuminati and how did Will smith know him??? Cos of the whole WilloW Smith situation Mychonny small creator Bigoted content ISekc Small creator did white face Pewdiepie etc what can I say him and them are just another puppet Milesjai Did White face Onision a bloody Chaos Magician Venturiantale The Brothers were abusing Bethany Frye used to be a kid friendly channel and now Bethany Frye does NSFW content now very sad Just to say im tekking the truth. I've been telling my friends for a couple years now, Cody Ko always seemed sleazy and disgusting. He'd put on this nice guy facade and occasionally talk about feminist topics, but it would always be the bare minimum of "progressiveness", it was like those tik toks about "the most progressive guy in 1950". Yeah fellas, women deserve some rights and it's not right to harass them! He'd make a video about men harassing drunk ladies and laugh. I don't think he ever saw women as equal to him.

Plus he dated Lia Marie Johnson when she was 17 and he was 21 AND Lia made a video titled “this is my story” and she said that when she was 17 she was in an abusive relationship and that the person who she was dating strangled her…. Always remember that we don’t know the true character of celebrities we watch online or tv. Even bloggers or social media influencers play a character. Some of them are really good at playing the character it can start to trick you into feeling almost like they’re a friend or acquaintance. Resist the urge to form parasocial relationships. The past couple months should be a teaching moment for lots of people.

THANK YOU for this video. Omg I’ve been arguing with people in the r/codyko subreddit about the stupidest things ever. They’ll say “oh she was almost 18”, “oh there’s no proof anything happened”, and I think my favorite- “why are we trying to cancel him for something that happened 10 years ago?” Codyko superfans are built differently. And the Reddit is HEAVILY moderated, where you can get banned for saying Tana or even putting 17 and 25 lol.
