Coffs Harbour Bypass March 24

This is the fourth installment of the construction of the Coffs Harbour City Bypass due to be finished in 2027, and is said to be 25% complete. This video is a bit longer than usual as there is a lot of details for interested parties to view, so sorry for the length. If you don't like the music then hit the mute button. The video is shot in 4k so you can pause at any point and still have good resolution to view. To all those who have commented on my previous update good and bad thank you.

My son moved up to Coffs with a crew to work on this project . I have visited him and seen some of the project road side ... but this video shows an amazing perspective of engineering on a scale most of us cant comprehend ... Im proud of my sons involvement in this project .. well done to all involved . And defo more drobe updates ...just awesome

he should be proud. as all the workers who worked on the projects up and down the coast from wherever they came from. it has transformed communities and made everyone's commute safe.

Me too. They are doing a fantastic job of sediment erosion control; when this video was shot, it had been raining the day before. Still a lot of water lying around.

Be careful what you wish for. Many towns have had these bypasses built only to effect their economy negatively. There was a big rally to bypass a town along a major highway and when they finally made the bypass we noticed the price of fuel sky rocket. A lot of the takeaway shops closing down and noticing it running into a bit of a ghost town. Not to mention the price of produce and meat goes up due to the restaurant not requiring as much with the traffic reduced Good luck I hope it works out well for the community but history shows that it’s very risky to bypass a town that’s somewhat out of the limelight, Another thing this brought to our small town was unemployment and the drug use increased. It’s amazing how much a road can change a community

Thankyou Mate for showing a update you really took the Drone to great heights and places and terrain no land based camera could capture. This Bypass sure looks exciting 2 Places we encounter traffic lights and those speed slow down lines that jolt the car Here at Boambee, lTraffic lights at Coffs Harbour South and at Raymond Terrace Im very happy to see the progression much faster then the road workers up north it will take the Qld equivalant 3-4 years just to build 4 km of simple highway. Here i can it could be potential be half open by this time next year. This bypass will give the traveller options to continue or to now finally stay the night in quiet accomodation i know this may make Coffs a popular place to holiday or have a holiday home after the completion because right now it feels like a pain in the arse and all we want to do is shoot thru. Cant wait for the next update. cheers

So true! Nowhere is NSW is major road building a simple or cheap affair. Whereas, say, you go to Albury and all that was required for the stretch to Melbourne was tell the bulldozers "head south". The terrain in the video, and hundreds of k's like it in NSW coast, springs to mind every time the nonsense of long distance, coastal, high speed rail comes up.

@@alexanderSydneyOz Yes , Coffs is where the Great Dividing Range meets the coast , so that is why this section requires so many bridges and tunnels. Apparently a 'far western route ' was considered in the past , which would have roughly followed the train line towards Grafton over an easier terrain , but it was decided against. I am not sure of the reasons why , but there was a need to build a new road between Coffs and north of Woolgoolga , so perhaps the chosen option was better to link both projects together.

I agree with all the positive comments. Because the video was shot and produced at a very high standard, a casual viewer would think it was an official NSW Government release. I eagerly await your next episode, and I am sure I will join with others to hope that Woolgoolga Drone Photography attracts the attention of numerous new commercial clients wanting premium videos.

Thanks for the video. Travelled that highway many times, thought I would never see it finished. Keep posting the videos, and now we need you to go down to Hexam and video how that is progressing. Couple of years time, and we will be able to drive from north of Gympie to west of Geelong without stopping, on multi-lane highway

really impressed with this. not everyday you get to see such a massive scale build featuring bridges, tunnels, fill and cuttings. in fact, these come only a few times in a generation.

Look forward to seeing more updates on this project. It will take a lot of traffic out of the city, great for residents. This and M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace will make the journey from Victoria and up the coast a dream run. Dual Highway, and only about 2 sets of traffic lights between Geelong & Brisbane (not counting the ones in stops off the highway).

Woolgoolga is such a beautiful place to visit... I visited for a couple of weeks and then stayed nearby for a archaeological field studies unit residental with the University of New England. It was held at a conference centre within walking distance of the area with shell middens, the board walk where you could look at the scarred trees and where they found and lifted the complete bark canoe sunk in the creek just behind the beach. I hope one day to make it back to revisit the area. One of our practical exercises was to record the stone fish traps and the area surrounding them. It fascinating to learn how they were used and link them to the middens. We were also taken to learn about the local history and pay respects at the sites of significance. The calm beauty of the places we visited was in sharp contrast with the descriptions of deliberate massacres of the indigenous peoples. For me, as someone who is "white", there was a vivid sense of the impact of colonisation as we were shown sites of significance by the elders. All this to say I hope none of these roadworks impact on the cultural sites. Your drone video is so well done and I really appreciate that you shared it. I live in a tiny town in between Canberra and the coast in South Eastern Australia. Most of the cultural sites in our area were destroyed in the past or lost in the recent bush fires. It is a slow process to rebuild what we can and to preserve the knowledge of the areas that are now lost, as a community, in a culturally appropriate way. I think drones help record valuable information for us and future generations. Please continue to share your work. Blessings, Dot

Nice work. GPT: The Coffs Harbour bypass is a significant infrastructure project in New South Wales, Australia, with a total cost of $2.2 billion. The project is jointly funded by the Australian and New South Wales Governments, with each contributing $1.76 billion and $440 million respectively. Construction is scheduled to begin in December 2022, with major construction set to start in March 2024. The bypass is expected to be open to traffic by late 2026 and fully completed by late 2027. It will include three tunnels at major ridgelines, access roads, and a new bus interchange, aiming to save motorists up to 12 minutes in travel time and remove thousands of vehicles from the CBD.

Federal would rather have Ukrainians killed in war spending ($950,0000,000,0000) than the allocation of additional funds to road works in Australian. Local Governments get about 1.5% of Federal budget; at 15% potholes would been preemptively filled.

I was able to plot the course on google maps, once i located where Shepard's lane and the rail line cross. Interesting to see it runs that far west before heading back towards Korora. A lot of bridges and tunnels yet to finish.

This is not a paid job, but a community service piece. Plenty of time and effort goes into putting it together. The contractors etc have their own Drones, so they don't really need my work. However, at a guess, I bet the engineers look very closely at what is presented in the piece. LOL. As for what I used, I have a number of drones in the fleet, but due to the proximity of the airport and regs around flying in this space, a mini 3 pro was used, along with five launch sites.

So why didn’t you say in your first post that the music “seems loud, probably because of the compressed dynamic range”? You seemed to be talking about your perception of loudness rather than actual peak values relative to RMS. You walked right into that query regarding a volume control. I have a volume control set for comfort and didn’t have a problem with any perceived loudness but then again I’m going deaf these days from too much loud music in years past (mostly years past - I still like it loud at times, with plenty of dynamic range too).

You need an overview map to show where each bit is in the big picture. I've no idea of the street names and these images/videos could be anywhere with out the context (also, ditch the music to save me muting the audio)

If you have watched the third instalment, there is an overview map towards the end. I have considered using one during this video, however all of the ones that I have tried to used which show the detail of the bypass with and overlay map are very low resolution and would not be suitable for a 4k production. If I can find one before the next fly over I most certainly will use it.

Obviously, you don't live in Coffs Harbour or surrounding areas. Also they are called watermarks which helps protect content and copyright.
