As the morning sunshine warms my bare bottom and my feet feel the cool chill of the kitchen tile, I reach into the freezer. A blast of cold air greets me, turning my nipples so hard I could dial an iPhone. As a shiver pleasantly travels south from my torso to my abdomen to the very tip of my sheathed sword, I saunter to the counter where I insert a blueberry-kissed waffle into the tight, dark, chrome-covered hole of my toaster. A gentle cloud of warmth emanates from the glowing steel rods within, bringing with it an intoxicating aroma of fruit, sugar, and hot, fluffy passion. The shiny appliance transforms into a giver of joy as the Eggo waffle pops up from the darkness, steam rising slowly and beckoning me to grab it and caress it and swallow it whole. I temper my passion for a moment, if only to find the fortitude to instead gently place it on a plate, covering it in slick, wet butter and gooey, sticky-sweet maple syrup. As the cushiony indentations of unadulterated bliss finally touch my lips, I let out a moan from deep within my very soul, announcing to the world that it's 7am on a Tuesday and yes, Deborah...I am 100% going to f**k this waffle.

Latin scholar here - studied it up to A’ level (age 18, before university entrance). Latin is INCREDIBLY useful for learning a lot of European languages and I even use my knowledge of grammatical structures, more than 30 years later. Thanks in part to those seven years of Latin I’ve been able to go from a total noob in Irish, to GCSE level (high school exam) in two and half years. Latin SLAPS.

How does learning latin help you learn Irish? Different language trees no?
@katelarge4169
@katelarge4169 5 ай бұрын
@@CC-rm9ql well yes, of course, as Irish is Goidelic. But really, it’s the depth of grammar: the nominative, vocative, genitive and dative cases, and genders of nouns, exist in both languages. Latin also teaches the discipline of ensuring nouns and adjectives agree in case, number and gender, which I need in Irish. Also, having dealt with the subjunctive in Latin helped me get my head around an modh coinnoílach in Irish - the conditional mood, which a lot of people find daunting. I really enjoyed it! Latin also has diminutive endings, which Irish does as well, It gave me a good handle on general terminology for grammatical terms. I did French at school too, but only for five years, and three years of German. Latin is a beautiful language overall and worth learning in its own right. Ancient Greek is GORGEOUS too, and really helpful for a taste of the modern language. I’m currently starting a book “Egyptian Hieroglyphs for Complete Beginners” by Bill Manley and that’s awesome as well. Even then, there are strange commonalities - the ancient Egyptian language seems to have a system of slenderising some consonants which - drum roll - IRISH DOES TOO! So a letter s might be pronounced ‘ess’ or ‘esh’. A c might be ‘see’ or ‘chee’, depending on the vowel beside the consonant. Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs also adds a determinant symbol if you’re talking about a feminine subject, and Irish also indicates the feminine - although, by omitting the séimhiú, (which kinda means it indicates the feminine by omitting a symbol, but it feels relevant when you see it all together). For casual holiday travel in Europe, good Latin really helped me pick up other languages quickly (to a confident but touristic level). It’s also great for deciphering inscriptions which you might come across in countries that were at some point part of the Roman Empire - though inscriptions don’t follow the same form as Latin prose, they use a system of abbreviations that you kinda have to learn separately.

A "sleeper hit" is a great compliment. It means the show is a hit & only a small group of "in the know" audience/fans see it the first few shows before word gets out & more shows are added. Making it into a huge hit. I saw Trixie in NYC @ a small dinner theater when her first album dropped. No one had any clue of her TRUE talent. We knew she was funny, knew we were gonna have a good time, but when Bitch took the small intimate stage, while we sipped cocktails & chewing on steak & french fries, Trixie blew us all out of our seats with her songwriting, singing, & musicality on the guitar & lap harp. Instead of an expected good time, we had a stupendously great time! I fell in love with Trixie to a whole deeper & more appreciative level. I walked out of that dinner theater with a greater respect & appreciation for her hard work & talent. She was the epitome of a "sleeper hit". Now nobody can afford her tix because she's a fucking performing powerhouse. She busts her ass when performing & it comes across beautifully. She'd have to shoot a puppy & kick an infant in the head before I would even consider lowering my opinion of her.

In high school, I used to think I was an empath because I was hyper aware of other people’s triggers and emotions and felt them very deeply. Then I went to therapy and l learned what hyper-vigilance was and got diagnosed with CPTSD and autism😐

Trixie, Huny, Sweetie.. You have to ask, to "layer" your popcorn. You get the tub half full, add butter & salt, bring it back, they finish filling it & then you top it off with butter and salt. So much better!!!

As a teacher, listening to their discussion on closed eyes and thought process had me locked. That’s like 50% of what we are observing, analyzing, & looking out for with students. IMO, it’s just one of the steps some people need to take in order to connect with their thought process and possibly visualization. Love em! FYI- I taught history in Florida and quit that shit when they came for my ass. I’m on “hiatus,” like Katya, until there are some changes LOL!😂

@@ghy518 what else would you call being asked your political affiliations by your boss, being told by the state to teach slavery as a jobs program, amongst other things?? You trying to get an answer, or be shitty? Cause I can always give you my Ed cert #. You ever been called a groomer after people find out you’re gay? Cause I did. I was also asked recently, in an interview, if I held any political views that could get the school in trouble, or if I meet with anyone extracurricular that could get them in trouble. Fucking doubters.
