Since when, we need house reps that will work with each other rather than criticize others. If she disagrees with republicans then work with them to get a better result. Same goes for republicans. We elect these people to work together not to just go on talk shows and criticize each other. Weirdly I think she would make a better VP. The President spends a lot of time waiving and pontificating but not actually doing a lot of "the work". She performed very badly, in essence endorsing Netanyahu when junketting in Israel. She could (should) have taken a stand against his authoritarianism, but didn't. Schiff has the nominal support of most Jewish organizations, but she would have had mine had she stood up to Netanyahu's anti-democratic policies and Israel's treatment of Palestinians. As it is, she gave up the moral high ground. Alas.

@@michaelbayer5094 It's a mix of things. I'm actually a moderate and modern republican, and I would vote for her in a heartbeat compared to what we have had for a long time. There's no intelligence in the GOP, and it generally lacks in politics. The truth is that when politics became the media circus it is today, you cater to "politicians" who are in it for the fame, fortune and power. Very few politicians are in it for the right reasons. I suspect that Mitt Romney actually had a genuine desire to do something good for his country, and so does someone like Liz Cheney. Sadly someone put an orange haired ape at the wheel of this shortbus, in 2016 and ever since it has just been downhill. Obama was bad, Trump was a disaster, Biden is incompetent and so on. There are no proper "statesmen" left because laziness and insanity rule the US at the moment. The lunatic running for GOP VP is a gun totin' bible bashing crazy lady calling a married Ukrainian president gay, the former president is at best capable of acting like a petulant child, and the rest is ruled by religious nutters and right wing extremists. How insane is that? The truly scary part is that it has gone to hell on both sides. The more extreme one side gets, the more extreme the other side gets.

See when you make such statements, you are going against everything she stands for. She knows that's not true, and she'd never utter those words. Both sides has fools and both sides has smart people. Just started the book tonight, only 67 pages in and I’m already loving it. Sent my sister pics of 3 parts already even tho I’m giving her the book to read when I’m done. She’s so candid, so open and is calling people out by name. It’s so refreshing, I hope things do change like she is aiming for. We need and deserve some transparency with our government.

I respect her on so many levels. For not being corrupt. For working her way up the ladder and not taking shortcuts to fasttrack her way to top positions, for saying truth to power, for standing up for the working class. We need more real progressives like Katie Porter!

Good luck. I'm normally anti left but reading books and getting more knowledege is something I totally agrree with. Hearing all sides of a story and having some knowledge of things is always good in my book. Continue your research of both right and left , make your own decisions and best of luck. Yeah, opensecrets is a cool resource regarding lobbying spending by corporations, and it is often to both sides. It's pretty interesting to track which years see increasing or decreasing spending, an tie-in to what was being debated or proposed at the time. Over-regulation can be almost as bad as under-regulation though, but it tends to be in states like Cali and is often more about bureaucracy than actually needed ones.

@@Jack-yw7bq I do believe that Porter's honesty and integrity when she approaches issues gives her widespread appeal and is going to put her in the Senate. Central Cali is much different than Southern Cali and SFO. Porter has a no-nonsense, practical approach with broad appeal.
