This video was an awesome find! During the last two months, I put together six survival kits including an Emerson chest pack which includes my CCW. My wife is semi-ambulatory and maintains mobility in a lightweight wheelchair. The back pouch of her chair is her survival kit using one of the "Jelly Roll" pouches from Amazon; purchased hers and two orange ones for my kits. What prompted me to do these kits, obviously stems from the crisis we've experienced with 30+ million people out of jobs and starving. We are all vulnerable and we will realize the full impact of this in the very near future. Certainly it cannot be pretty and rosy. Our EDC bags, get home bags and bug out bags have changed and hopefully will be more functional to meet our exacting needs as we are both in our 70's. Survival kits are extremely important , however mental and physical fitness should be a high priority in one's lifestyle. Your survival kit with the Cold Steel knife was pretty cool. I love Cold Steel products and the Trail Boss axe is a favorite part of my overland camping gear along with a couple of full tang knives.

I added a few sheet rock screws. One to screw fix the blade to your walking staff

Great kit. You definitely gave me a few ideas to add to mine, especially the pace counter. I love my Cold Steel Bushman. I have been using it intensively for the last year and it's held up great. I've used and abused it on purpose and it's still going strong. I've added a small tin of fire starters and water purification + 550 fire cord and taped the handle with tennis racket tape for extra grip. One essential item I have in my kit is a fitted screw that can be used to screw the knife to a branch/rod to secure it as a spear. I know that Cold Steel often gets criticized by knife purists, but I have several and I use and abuse them more than my expensive blades (which primarily stay in my pack for when I really need them). My Bushman and SRK have preformed way above expectation and along with my Schrade SCHF 26 and 36 have surprised the heck out of some knife and steel snob buddies that I have.

Impressive work. Although you don’t need to order or buy ranger bands. You can get them by simply cutting them from a bicycle inner tube. One tube (even an old one) can be cut into about a dozen or more good bands. Great video.

You always seem to be able to fit so much stuff into your small kits, every time I try to do that something breaks or can't close the lid. lol. you are the master. God bless and stay safe.

A very nice mod and kit ! I have 7 Bushman, Bowie or strait for years now and I love this simple knife. On all Bushman's plastic sheath, on the back you have a rectangular piece of plastic clipped, pushing and maintaining the knife in the sheath. This part can (will) pop up someday and is going to be lost. You better use some Gorilla tape to tape this small part to the main plastic sheath because if you loose it the knife retention will be gone and the knife can be lost if up side down.

If you add the entire length or as much as possible of the bicycle tire tube (rolling it in upon its self you can even make ridges by rolling it then pulling it back on its self in set increments) instead of cutting at this stage, the tube could be used to siphon water or gas in a pinch. You can always cut to size later but you can't reverse the process. A short wood screw included in the kit could help secure the blade to a wooden shaft through the lanyard hole.

I always have loved the bushman

I've got the original one with nylon sheath. I punched a hole on side to put on a cheap multitool and wrapped the handle in the thinner cord. Remember a eye screw to attach to pole. They get a bad rep, but they are easily sharpened and can weld too pieces together if broken. Paid 19.95 for mine and I got two original and one like the one you were modifying. Looking forward to the sheath you make.

Great video thanks. Nice mods. Just waiting on my CS Bowie Blade Bushman knife. My plan is to rap the handle with hockey stick or tennis racket tape that will have a little metal bar running down the bottom of the handle that will have a bend at the end that with stick out and work as a finger guard. This will also keep the handle from being to round and it will not twist in my hand plus with out looking I will be able to know where the cutting edge is at all times. Learned this from video from one of the guys who was a winner on the show Alone. Think I will put some of the rubber ranger bands under the tape so the metal rod is not metal to metal with the handle and they are good so if the tape ever came off I still have a good grip. Great price on these Cold Steel Bushman Knive as mine was only $21.00 with tax and shipping included. Thanks for all your video and have a good one.

Get a old Timmie boat plug made of brass and rubber and take the bar to tighten it out and put a key ring and seal the bottom inside of the bush aster handle you can put the key ring in the hole were the little bar was on the boat plug and it fits right in the end of the handle as a very nice cap you can tighten up that's what I do to all mine it looks good and if you got the bottom sealed you can store things in the handle and won't get wet lol lol yes very good customized cold steel bush man knife it makes I call mine the real bush master lol when I do this mod

Really cool vid man. Also have a cold Steel Bushman and i love it. I modified it a little bit too and Put a littel pouch on the front which contains a bic lighter and a Swiss Army folding knife. Außer wrapped around the sheath duct Tape and Paracord.(sorry if there are any spelling mistakes i am from Germany)
