Over the years I have bought expensive hatches, tomahawks and machetes and always keep coming back to this shovel. Its the only one that performs and can carve like a hatchet chop like an axe slice like a machete. It will serve you well if you take the time to get used to chopping with the slight curve (actually helps IMHO) it digs like a champ. For a survival tool it performs so many roles including self defense. You really can beat it

these were REALLY difficult to get over here for a few years, mine took a lot of time and effort to find. I've sprayed my sheath with OD and tan krylon and using leaves to create pattern and it really blends in nicely with the outside of my pack. it can get a bit discoloured and rusty if you don't clean it off when you get home, but it cuts through turf and clay like it's rubber cheese slices when you want a fire pit

Looks like it's useful dual use piece of kit. A shovel and machete in one. And I don't think anyone would exactly relish getting hit with one either... 🤣

Soldier issued MPL-50 of Soviet army that every soldier carried is better. We sharpened it with brick or file. I remember how one sergeant from my regiment cutted winter hat in half with it. Serving 1988-1990. Regards from Belarus🎉
