Honestly the AMA didn't have the best sound, and I know they had some sound/mic problems in this performance, you'll see they usually sound a lot better live than here. But it was great they got to perform it together.

Hi again, yesterday our Jin performed with Coldplay at Buenos Aires . it was a gift for his fans and to say goodbye to them in order to join the military service. Chris Martin made a very nice introduction before the entrance of our word wide handsome, Coldplay really love our adorable BTS.

As Chris says, he is a great protector and supporter of the guys now. According to him, meeting the BTS guys changed Coldplay's life in many ways.

I love when bts make documentaries of their tour, collabs ,etc they always take you into another place I really love this collab bc both sides are not fake or just want to take credit for themselves

And, I felt that way about my life also. And I met some good people and read some good books and met some great teachers and they seemed to be happy. And the thing that made them happy was not having fear of what you don't know and people you don't understand yet. You just ask. And, one way that really blessed my life and our life as a band is that about two years ago someone suggested to us that we should work with a korean boy band. At first I was full of judgment which is often my first reaction because I'm human. And after a while I was like 'why do I feel scared about this? just because they're different, you know, they make different music?' And so we went down this road and we did a song together called My Universe and it's turned out to be one of the most, one of the most fun, fulfilling relationships that we has as a band and it's taught us so much about "just embrace the other rather than be scared of it". And so about 6 months ago one of their members called me up and he said "I have to leave the band in December for 2 years and join the army in Korea because that's the rules there." And he said "I need a song that says goodbye to everybody for a little while, that tells them I love them". Because like all bands we need you. It's you that really does everything. It's you that's the magic. And so I said, "ok, we'll do a song together," and instead of being worried about it, I felt so excited about it, so grateful for this relationship that we have with BTS. And then, this song arrived and I said, "This is one of our best songs! Let's give it to this gentleman". And he's flown all the way here from Korea. This is the last time we'll see him for a couple of years. He has to go join the army. This is serious stuff and we hope it goes ok. But please give the biggest and most wonderful welcome to our brother from our band of brothers. This is The Astronaut and this is Jin. Let's go." im glad coldplay are looking after them, kind of. i believe they are good people and bts never had any industry seniors in the west to guide them a little. i remember they spoke about it, that they had no one to give them advice and they had to figure everything out by themselves when entering global recognition era. the friendship bts and coldplay have now really warms my heart. who else could be the best role model, huh? when you look at coldplay stadium concerts now you think "yeah, this is bts' future too" also this quote speaks for itself too Chris Martin: "the collaboration was really rewarding. it started at beginning feeling like a very strange idea. but by the end, now, it feels almost like the most natural partnership, which is a really strange thing to say. we love those guys, and to be honest we really care about them. they don't necessarily have the same freedom as we do all the time. and we would encourage that they'd be given than freedom cause they are special people. and what they create together is very uplifting for millions of young people and old people. so i feel quite protective of bts. and at this point we don't judge anything except when we feel that it's cool. right? or is it doing something positive? bts are so positive for the world. and it's a lovely feeling when you don't have to worry about anything other than 'does my heart like this thing?'" i don't know him well but from what i've seen and heard his and bts' values aline a lot, they are also all humble despite their popularity and influence, and they all have that passion and love for music that can't be confused with anything

I went Coldplay's concert in Argentina and it was truly like magic, I cried a lot when i heard Jin singing "the astronaut" live and I also felt so honored to be able to see his last performance before enlisting. It was my first time seeing Coldplay and Jin in person 💜

You really should watch the MV, a masterpiece! hahaha This show you heard sounded weird, a guy from AMA explained that there were so many screams that they had to do it and it wasn't very good, the sound was much better in person, as you can hear if you look at videos from people who were there

I was actually at the BTS PTD On Stage Stadium Concert in Los Angeles - December 2nd, 2021, and Coldplay stopped by to perform My Universe as the last song of the night. It was a surprise for ARMY's. It was so awesome. That was the last night of the 4 day sold out concert series at SoFi Stadium, which was their first Stadium concert since their Love Yourself: Speak Yourself - The Final. On October 29, 2019, in Seoul, South Korea, at the Seoul Olympic Stadium. That was two years of no concerts. They had a concert planned for their Map of the Soul Tour, in 2020, and that had to be cancelled. That one was cheduled to start on April 11, 2020. It's a bummer they had to cancel. I wasn't a fan of theirs until October of 2020. I would like to link you a good quality performance of Jin's 'The Astronaut' live at Coldplay's concert in Argentina. The AMA performance is not the best cuz Chris Martin and BTS could not hear. No one was prepared for how loud the audience was. They has technical sound issues throughout the performance. I encourage you to watch MAMA award BTS performance… they are unreal. Start with 2018-2020! There are tons and tons of BTS stuff to watch! Great fun. watching your journey.

I'm so happy you reacted to this making of. The MV is actually good too, on Coldplay's channel. Then there is some behind the scenes on BTS' channel when they had to film parts of the MV using green screen (it shows a lot of the guys being themselves). I think the Mics weren't all working properly at the AMAs because you could barely hear some of them (like V). Chris did join BTS at one of their concerts in LA at SOFI stadium too at the very end of their concert. That was in November 2021 just like the AMAs. So, they got to perform without having to wear masks for the first time in a couple years, and Coldplay joined BTS at one of the 4 concerts. Jin really thinks highly of Chris Martin and both groups formed a friendship that I feel will last forever. Speaking of sound, yours was very faint again; I could barely hear what You were saying even with headphones on, but I managed. The concert at the end, it was great to hear them for real, without autotune.

This collab will always be number one on bts collab lists because of the effort Chris Martin put into actually going to South Korea and doing a recording session with bts that also in the middle of a pandemic and with all the flight restrictions. It took great effort into bringing bts and coldplay together and they created a song about bringing people together across borders, it's kinda iconic. And the unofficial concert performance video here actually had better sound quality. The amas messed up their mic audio levels. You could barely hear some members. I think it was the same for other artists performing that day too. Also Jins performance with coldplay is up on bangtantv. Chris Martins intro to the performance isn't uploaded though so it can only be viewed through fancams.

This whole collaboration and all their interactions are so precious to me because Coldplay was literally the first music consciously chosen by me when I was in primary school. Before I was listening to my mom’s music with her, then I heard my brother listening to Coldplay’s scientist and that’s how my personal music taste started . Now my favorite artist is bts and seeing them together is so sudden but so natural😄 They are very similar to each other in so many aspects like perception of the world and being top artist but still staying humble, also bts said many times that people avoid being friends with them cause of pressure and how there weren’t role models for them cause they are first in everything as Korean artists, how they are scared that fans won’t stay with them years later so they must work hard now to entertain, deal with hate cause their music change and older fans leave them, and now they can look up to codplay , cause Coldplay went through all of this too and still have massive fandom and most importantly still stay with each other and do what they love together. Coldplay probably gained new energy from this friendship too cause many times they said this is one the best time they had. So even the thought of them not meeting each other cause bts actually wanted to go to the military earlier, makes me sad. Glad everything turned out how it is💫

That's not true, BangtanTV released an official video of that performance this morning. That's a channel you might consider subscribing to. It's so funny because the guys are always surprised that celebrities would want to work with them. They still don't realize that they are as big or bigger than the celebrities they want to work with.

Thats just another level emotions when ur two worlds collide.. i grew up listening to coldplay and i am an army now.. when u see both artists appreciate and respecting each other it hits different. Great reaction! U should watch the official MV someday. And yesterday’s coldplay’s concert where jin performed Astronaut was amazing. Chris’s intro to jin was so heartwarming and touching, that performance being jin’s last until he returns back from military 2-3 yrs from now. So we were all in tears after watching that performance 💜😭

coldplayXbts is one of the most wholesome collabs I've ever seen tbh. I especially appreciate how honest chris was in other places about the initial prejudice he held. I think he helped a lot of people confront their own biases that way. the love respect and similarity in character between the two groups is truly heart-warming. both groups are just good and sincere people. apparently jin told chris 6 month ago that he will have to leave the band for two years for the military when they were all out eating together and that's when they quietly started working on The Astronaut. that was WHILE all of korea was still doing their opinion polls daily and trying to use bts and the exemption question for political leverage.

When Chris went to Korea to record My Universe, it was during covid and Korea was in lock down. And Chris had to wait and check so many thing to arrive at BTS agency, that's why he said it was hard to get htere and he was thankful he was allowed to come during the lockdown

If you think Chis is humble, i can;t wait for you to see how humble BTS are. Lol. I really liked this collaboration because it was so genuine and full of heart. I have often felt over the years that BTS are often used by collaborators for their own clout and mistreated in little to big ways also because of their niceness and humility. Therefore, it was so refreshing and nice to see nice people working together and giving us a beautiful song at the end of it all.

This is such a great vindication after that German radio host made disparaging comments about BTS after they made a cover of Coldplay's "Fix You" - he called it a blasphemy, compared them to the coronavirus, saying that they should take a vacation to North Korea for doing the cover.

The documentary was so wholesome and showed exactly why these two bands were a great match. It makes me smile seeing how sweet they are with each other and how respectful they are to what each of them bring to the collaboration. You should definitely watch the official MV of My Universe. You can get a much better feel of what the final product was in that rather than the live. The AMA really messed up on the audio for that so you can't get a feel for how good they actually could have sounded. If I didn't know that Chris Martin and BTS were great singers, I would have questioned it with that performance with how badly the sound team missed the mark. It's an unfortunate occurrence with American shows. I tend to avoid them because the audio is usually messy and so is the camera work.

Check their song My Universe live performance at AMA's last year and their MV. Chris Martin speaks highly of BTS and has so much respect to them as well. We could all learn a thing or two from Chris....💜💜💜

FYI coldplay sang the song baraye in their concert with golshifte farahany. I was crying so hard. Coldplay is a band like bts . Chris Martin's mindset is a lot like bts and he is so genuine and kind . They made the best friendship ever with theur collaboration my universe which i suggest you definitely go check it out . Also the support he has shown to the protests makes me love him even more. 😭

I remember watching it live, sound was so bad at the AMAs that year like wow, and not their mics but sound that tv audience gets, I honestly think they wasn't ready for some much people screaming and they wanted to make their voices lower so artists would be heard but in the end it was mess, when we later looked at fancams from this it was so much better like wow, totally two different performances even tho there were not.... They performed Butter too and it was wired to .... There are different lives, hmm brom BTS concert and from Coldplay stage, acustic version too.

The My universe performance which was broadcasted by AMAs has terrible audio, because they tried to cut out the audience. I couldn't believe that bts and Chris sounded like that. The one on bangtantv has much better audio.

The sounds in AMAs waere terrible. Ahhh. Such a great performance, just that one time, and it came out not so good. The fancams are better actuall when jt comes to sound. It was frustrating. I hope they can do MU again on BTS concerts, that I would know the sound production will be incredible.

Let's not overly gush about the man; he was talking about the pandemic. At that time South Korea had shut it doors from foreign entry unless it was due to emergency. HYBE had to get special permission for him to enter and it was for only 2 days. The part about how they first connected, he said on the Graham Norton show that what he was told was just a rumour and not actually BTS making a request to work with him. BTS named Coldplay once very casually when an interviewer asked them who they want to collab with. BTS are way bigger than coldplay or chris martin to put things into perspective. Your obviously a die hard coldplay fan.
