For those who are wondering about the engine shaft diameter, I have found that some newer Coleman bike variants have gotten 3/4” engine shafts. I will have to actually measure mine to really see what I have. But that the end of the day. I don’t think it matters whether the stock engine has the smaller or larger shaft diameter. Cause most people wanting to do properly serious upgrades would probably go for an engine swap to begin with anyway.

I wanted to put old school Briggs on mine and have to put bushing on the shaft so the newer clutch will fit

If you install a torque converter right away there's no need for billet anything or governor removal if you keep the stock gearing. The OD function will keep engine RPM at a very safe level.

I agree, a torque converter is the way to go for a more reliable build I would say. Which is why that’s going to be my biggest performance modification. Keeping the engine itself fairly light on upgrades and keeping up with maintenance will definitely help keep it more reliable and help the engine last a lot longer.

@@pfmachineshow would it be more reliable with a torque converter and belt driving it. Straight Chain drive and a jackshaft with two different chains is the way to go for long distance driving. Torque converters are better for racing off road and short distance driving in my opinion. Not trying to be rude or anything.

Got one for my son for christmas but the throttle seems to be engaging on its own. When I watch it seems like the springs are not returning the carb plastic part to idle without snapping release the throttle. Semi dangerous at the moment. Any thoughts as to what would be causing that not to get back on time. Something need to be tightened/loosened? Sorry just noticed you got the same bike and are probably much handier with them then myself.

Loosen the throttle lever bolt, it needs to be loose enough to where the throttle lever is loose and springs back.

Well, I had already done that I guess when I was playing with it the first time. Not really too familiar with all the parts but I noticed that was a little tight and restricting it. Still not springing enough though. But I went into the trusty fix all tool bag and found that an elastic band finally did the trick after lots of fiddling around. Strapping that to the throttle lever to help pull it back was perfect. We had a fun hour or two of riding and breaking it in. Nice to see him smile rather than panic lol. Either way thanks for the help and if I get to the root of the actual problem, I will let you know. Might buy a nice spring to help with that return next time I'm out as elastic will break down eventually. Thanks

Got it from harbor freight, it carries up to 400lb of bike. I may make a video on it since people seem to be interested in something like that.

Its a 5/8 inch shaft. I picked mine upa few days ago and tried to put a torque converter on. Im waiting for a engine riser now

Ok I may have been wrong. I put a torque converter on my b200r yesterday. I didn't measure the shaft. But the torque converter I bought was this one and it fit perfectly (Vevor 212CC Torque Converter Kit Go Kart 30 Series 6.5 HP Mini Bike Comet Clutch Set 3/4 Inch 10T #40 or 41 Chain Predator Driver Pulley Replacement Comet TAV2 Go-Kart Torque Converter). Because of the frame I had to get this riser (JMCHstore Torque Converter Engine Motor Riser Hardware Kit for Predator 212cc) it's just a 1 inch high square tube. It fits with no room to spare so the ones that rise any higher or shift is the engine forward will not fit. Also I used a grinder to cut a little bit off the chain guard where the torque converter case is. Because of the tight fit, I will have trouble replacing the air filter. My fix is that I will change out the air intake.

If your planning on riding it off-road a lot, the stock tires leave a lot to be desired in my opinion. A lot of people go for sunf tires and other brands make mini bike tires as well.

Its a pretty good bike doesn’t need anything before ridden. If you are looking to upgrade it though i would get a new set of tires [sunF are pretty good] and maybe a new front suspension if you want but i think its fine.

196cc clones have a 5/8in shaft 212cc normally have 3/4in shaft

True 196 clones have always had a 3/4" shaft. Three of the Coleman models used a 196 with a 16mm shaft, not 5/8". The Hisun engine Coleman used is the only 196 with the smaller shaft. These Coleman minibikes and Predator 212's didn't exist when I started buying clones.

23mph stock, with my current upgrades as of may 2024 it will do 45 on smooth road pretty comfortable.

I bought one as well I've been riding around in front of cops and motorcyclist cops too they've been looking at me but they didn't pull me over as long as you ride with the traffic and don't cause any traffic delay of vehicles around you and don't ride on the sidewalk you should be fine just make sure you ride on the bike lane only and and you can use the turning lane when you need to turn at a light I will only do it with a two-lane only 3 Lane kind of risky because you got more cars you got to look for and keep your eye on your back and with cars coming when you're trying to come on tight streets just give me the info on what I'm learning

And you can actually get these bikes legally register through DMV you just got to go to your insurance and get some papers and then get the light kit brake lights and everything then take it to DMV have them expected so you can make it legal so you be more at ease with the law
