This is my method of collecting pollen. In this video you see me using a bamboo stick and a stainless steal bowl to help me collect the pollen from my Vietnam White Giant it makes it easier and faster. Check out this video to see how I collect the pollen and what to do with it after!

Grafting Dragon Fruit we definitely gotta do a collab, I have Dragon Fruit plants but not even close to what you have. I just took a trip down to Mexico to witness first hand Dragon Fruit vines in their native environment and how the Aztecs harvest this fruit... I will publish my experience soon, but I just discovered your Channel today and we definitely gotta Collab 👍👍

This is perfect, I’m going to hand pollinate my pink dragon fruit soon . After one year of planting I have flowers already I’m so excited . I have a question why one of my buds turn yellow?

That normally happens when there is too many buds on a single branch and it can’t support it. They will keep only what they can handle and abort the ones that are too much for them to keep on so they can focus growth on the ones that matter.

Must test your system in other cactus plants. Seems It can change the way I manage cross pollination.

Hi Ines, if you store it in the fridge it will last 30-40 days until it isn't viable anymore. If you freeze it, I've had luck with pollen still working after 7 months. Now I freeze all my pollen because its been keeping its life longer.

I live in South California. The weather here is perfect for growing dragon fruit.

Hi Tina, yes I recommend letting the pollen dry in a stainless silver bowl for 24 hours before you put it in the freezer.

How long does the pollen preserve its properties in the fridge?

Hi Salvi, If you dry it out overnight and store it into a air tight jar the next morning with desiccant packs inside a freezer zip-lock bag. It can last up to 45 days. If you freeze it, it can last up to 1-2 years.

Hi, I have the Giant Vietnamese Dragon fruit too. My dragon fruit plant has lots of pollens, but it doesn't have any pollen dust; therefore, I can't do hand pollination. Do you know why? Thank you.

Hi Kaeqvmienh, that’s sounds great! Vietnam white giants are very fun and they grow so fast it makes gardening very exciting. When are you coming out to collect your pollen dust? I try to do it right when the flower opens or during that night. If you wait until the next morning the pollen will dry up and very little will be able to retrieve. Timing is the secret to collecting a lot of pollen dust from any dragon fruit flower.

Hi Pedro, that means that your dragon fruit either didn't get pollinated. Or it requires cross-pollination from a different dragon fruit variety to be able to bear fruit from their flower. Hola amigo, guardo el polen para guardarlo para polinizar diferentes variedades de fruta del dragón. Las frutas de dragón híbridas no aceptarán su propio polen, así que guardo el polen de diferentes tipos para usarlo más tarde cuando otras flores de fruta de dragón comiencen a florecer. Esto asegurará que tendré muchas frutas sin fallar.
