On receiving complaints from medical college Students and their parents that 20 of them of 2nd year MBBS (2016-17 Batch) of Sri Venkateshwara Medical college were being prevented from attending regular classes since May despite a clear order of Madras High Court in WP no 23732 Of 12 .12 2017, directing the College Authorities not to “prevent the students from attending the classes’....”
They are before the Honble High Court Court on a fee dispute since 2016.
Despite the Court order and the show cause notice order issued by the Health Dept of GOP to comply with the said order the College Authorities were seen violating the Government and Judicial directions.
Based on a complaint in the Open House of the LG, yesterday, from the harassed parents of these students, Hon’ble LG Dr. Kiran Bedi along with Secretary Health Dr Candavelou decided to go to the college to see it themselves..
They confronted the Dean and the Managment. The Dean Dr Rathinasamy immediately admitted the fact that they had separated the students from their batches. And was now willing to amend their illegal and improper direction.
Following this he was told the get the distressed Students before us and admit this irregularity before the Students and tell the students to join their batch without any more delay or discrimination.
The assembled students were asked of their grievance. They frankly disclosed before the us and the managment that they had been separated and deprived of their classes since May.
The managment admitted their error and conceded that they will rectify this harmful action.
After which the Dean was asked to inform the waiting parents as well.
Which he did.
Dr. Kiran Bedi told the managment to abide by Court orders always, failing which law shall be enforced.
