My personal opinion is Tommy Gioeli knew Ralph Dols was a cop, but he didn’t want to anger Joel Cacace, he told Dino Colabro that Ralph was just some Mexican guy from a social club because he knew he probably wouldn’t go along with the hit if Dino knew Ralph was a cop

I follow several subscriptions on true crime and some of them visit the cemeteries where the subject is buried. Joe "Waverly" is my next door neighbor. He recently got out of prison after being away since about 2002. I was already aware of this incident. As you mention, everyone knows that he ordered the killing of Dols. It was truly a sickening crime and I find knots in my stomach forming just watching your video and listening to you talk about it. But it is what it is. You just wave and smile.

I knew Ralph (last name pronounced "Doles"). We graduated high school together in 1987 and while we were never close, remained friendly for several years afterwards. I just want to say he was a legit nice guy. Always smiling. Always had a nice word for people. Obviously deserved better. And l want to say thank you for not dragging his name through the mud like others, including members of the NYPD, have done by repeating unproven accusations about Ralph.

I worked out at the gym that the police officer worked out at. They had a very hard time finding out who did it at first. The police call me up soon after and asked me if I knew him from the gym. They called everyone at the gym to get any information on if anyone knew anything. The police go above and beyond when one of their own are killed.

Cacace was a bit of a badass as well. He was accosted by three robbers at his florist shop in Sheepshead Bay. He was shot in the chest then took the gun from the one that shot him and killed him with his own gun and the other two ran off. He then drove to the police station shot and bleeding with the guys dead body in the back seat of the car. You can’t make this stuff up.

Look forward to it as usual. There’s a bit about it in Wikipedia and I’ll see if I can find where I read about it and forward the info if you’d like. Also talks about when he had the brothers killed after they hit the Judge instead of the Prosecutor due to being father and son with the same name. Didn’t really have an option really though since the Columbo family ordered them hit because of the screwup. I used to get these stories from my great grandfather and great great uncle. They came over from Sicily in 1923 and knew a little too much sometimes. Lol…that’s why I love your channel. Brings back memories. Don’t stop doin these bro. I look forward to each one. From late 1980 to about late 2005, I had been living mostly in the Chicago area, so except for the "big time rub outs or busts" publicized via the national media, or some of the occasional snippets I'd catch wind of (Which were usually described as "Some mob guy whacked another mob guy on so-and-so street", and really nothing more) whenever I came back once or twice a year to NYC for family visits, I would never know much about the mob violence going on in the area... Thanks for this info as well...

Another great historical video, Mooney Dash Cam!!!! Thx for this!!!! Suggestion: What about doing a video on former NYPD detective, Serpico, from the 60's-'70's, the right side of the law.... There was a movie made of this NYPD detective back in 1973. Al Pacino, actor, played Serpico. Always wondered if the real Serpico ever came across the mob or even arrested any from the mob...???? Cheers!!!!
