Those of us still burning at the Neophyte Table are really impressed with the CW Pro II. For me, though, at my level, it seems the Detailer is better for me. It will be a while before I am burning at hardwood level. Plus, every time I sit down to burn, my son wants a turn at it. Thanks very much for the information and enthusiasm. It’s very encouraging.

I love this machine! After the retreat, first thing I did was order this machine and nibs from Bear Woods. Their service is fabulous! And if you have any questions at all, they are super quick to answer. Still learning how to use my burners and trying to challenge myself a bit more. Between your videos, challenges, and crate club projects it definitely has helped improve my skills. Thank you Jannie. ❤️

Thanks for the video! You channel has been super helpful. Question: Does the "detail" side of the colwood pro have the same heat range as the colwood detailer?
@BurnSavvy
@BurnSavvy 4 ай бұрын
Glad you’re enjoying it! 🙌 In my experience the pro is still hotter. The difference is in the machine itself.

I LOVE your videos!! I just found you today and have had you playing in the background while wood burning. I’m still very much a beginner but I have a learned a lot from you just in a few hours! (Specifically the “pulling” technique, and my mind is blown at the difference!) I’m working on wood burning a sign for a party this year, I’m wondering if you know of any good ways to distress or age it afterwards? I’m afraid to just take a torch to it and potentially ruin all my work, but I don’t know any other techniques! Thanks again!!!

Glad you found it helpful! Torch is good, or whitewashing and dabbing the paint out of the burn after. If you want to distress the burn itself, a little sanding works. Hope that helps!

Hi, great video. Would the knife point be capable of burning a 3/8" deep slot into white pine? I make wood fish decoys and was looking for a different way of cutting in slots for the metal fins which are glued into the slots. Thanks for your time!

That should work… Depends on how deep you want to go. I ’ve burned round holes through 1/2 inch woods. The ashes tends to build up in the hole so it gets more difficult the deeper you get. You also get overburn around the entrance of the hole, so if that bothers you, be sure to have a brush to wipe off the ashes and sandpaper on hand to scrape off the rest… or use something else like maybe a rotary tool. Good luck!

I bought a super pro for my wife and she likes it. The two different wires provide different burn levels for the same setting, so it can be handy if you're switching between two different heat levels. Which side did you use for the 1 to 10 reference lines and shadings you made at the end? The heavy duty side tends to burn hot, but she uses the other side for light settings and has no problem with basswood. I have the Galaxy, which I also like a lot.

Thanks for sharing your experiences! Super helpful. 🙌 I used the standard cord or “detail” side so it would be more comparable to the other burners I’m testing out. 👍

3:40 how come razertip doesn't offer that thin thick cord. Can do heavy or light through that one cord? Is it better technology?🤔🤔
@BurnSavvy
@BurnSavvy 7 ай бұрын
They do offer both a thick and thin cord, thick for heavy duty heat and thin for fine detail heat. You need to get one of their dual burners if you want both on the same machine like the super pro here. 👍

The tool used to remove the tip looks scary to me. It seems like you can burn your hand easily if you are not careful.
@BurnSavvy

Yes, you definitely want to turn it off before you change it. Being electrical, it’s best to turn it off first before you disconnect the tip anyway. 👍

Thank you for your review. I purchased the Super Pro II. Average U.S. house outlets are 15 amps. My Colwood doesn’t seem to burn as dark at your temperature. Does the Colwood require a 20 amp outlet? Thanks for your reply.
@BurnSavvy
@BurnSavvy Жыл бұрын
Nope. The amount of energy it pulls from the wall doesn’t really make a difference with how hot or dark it is. That heat comes from a setting inside the machine and/or from the cord that moves the heat from your machine to your pen. My guess is your machine has a lower heat setting inside the box itself. I know there are ways to open it up and change it, which might be an option if you want that higher heat.

I am looking to upgrade to this style burner faily soon. I know you said that the toasty burns are hard to achieve with this on the heavy duty side but what about the light duty side? Thanks in advance for your help.
@BurnSavvy
@BurnSavvy Жыл бұрын
Some say they have no problem getting toasty burns on the fine detail side on low heat, but others do. Personally, it’s always been a little difficult to get those light burns with this machine, but it still can be done. If you buy it, and it ends up being too hot for your needs, I know there are ways to open the machine and adjust it. It’s a long lasting machine, that’s for sure. Hope that helps!
