Can you please explain the sealant? Why is it necessary? Is it food safe? Also, is there a video describing how, when, where and why to shade?😊
@BurnSavvy
@BurnSavvy 3 сағат бұрын
Sealant helps the burn last longer since burns fade over time. Some are food safe, this one is not. I have a video all about sealants if that’s helpful. As for Shading, shading is difficult even outside of woodburning. I do have a shading course that you can find in the white-hot level of my channel membership. That goes through all the details of how, when, where, and why to shade. 👍🔥

Nope, not bad at all. That’s personal use, and a great way to learn! It’s when you try to sell it or post it on social media that sometimes people will get in trouble for going against copyright.

Hey, thank you so much for this video. I do have a question for you. I have a bunch of wood pallets that I cut up and I was thinking of using them to start practicing burning. I’m having a hard time figuring out if the wood is treated or not, any suggestions or recommendations?
@BurnSavvy
@BurnSavvy 21 күн бұрын
Honestly that’s a tough one. I’ve heard that you can look up where the pallets come from and see if that industry typically treats their pallets, but I imagine that’s not fail safe. My typical approach is to try it, and if it starts making me feel weird or gives me headaches, then I stop. That can get frustrating though because you put in all the time and effort to sketch or transfer a pattern on there and to burn it. Good luck 🙌

Possibly. I don’t have one to practice on, but if I get one I’ll post it. I’m afraid that removing the finish to burn it and adding the finish back would mess with the quality of the guitar’s sound in the end

Thank you so much for your videos. I shopped around for awhile to pick the best burner for my needs. Your videos definitely help me make my decision. I ordered this burner with the tips you had put together as a kit. I also was able to use your discount code that saved some money also. Everything was great until I received the burner. When I took it out of the box it was rattling like something was loose on the inside. I did not want plug it in because I did not want to short anything out. I contacted Bear Tools and was told I needed to contact Coalwood. I responded that they had sent me a definitely product. They just said they did not make the burner andI had to contact Coalwood. I have emailed Coalwood twice and have not heard back from them. I called them on Thursday and they are closed Thursday through Sunday. I received the burner on Monday 24th and this is Friday the 28th and I have a burner I can not use. I will try Coalwood on Monday and see what they say. It seems to me that customer support is standing behind what you sale. Whatever happens you have been very helpful and I appreciate it. I just wanted to post my experience at Bear Tools so other people can be aware.

What about using older wood such as old barn wood?
@BurnSavvy
@BurnSavvy Ай бұрын
Older wood is okay, just gets porous and foamy and more difficult to get a clean line. The problem with barn wood is that it’s usually treated with something. Burning chemicals can create toxic fumes. So typically I recommend not burning barn wood and I don’t like burning old wood either

Great question. I don’t know much about sulfate other than you need it in the garden. 🙃 Look up online if they use sulfate for sharpening knives. You want to get a fine grit so it doesn’t chew up the tips. Or, if it helps, the powder I use is sold here - coupon code SAVVY gets you a discount: www.bearwood.com/product8339.html?aff=14 Or you can get it on Amazon here: amzn.to/3XH3JqB
