Thank you, this has been incredibly useful for me. Adjusting terrain has always been a mystery to me and I had no idea about the overlay. What I can't work out is how to pan around the map when you are zoomed in and the edges of the map go beyond the borders of your VDU. You did it in your video quite quickly, but I didn't see how. Thanks again!

Wow that helped alot the manual that I got on line covers none of that and I was stumbling in trying to make my own scenario map. The good news I just got my hard copy with a bigger manual that will hopefully help me with the rest of my scenario makeing problems. You did a great job of covering all the details. Thanks

Map overlay file name should be: special editor overlay.bmp Don't include the word "map" or it will not work.

And save the file in the correct format - BMP is not just *one* format, it is a hash of what Microsoft thought, in 1990, could be possible ways to store raster graphics. On the Mac, with GraphicsConverter, I need to use the option "Windows/RLE8/save as palette" to see the overlay.

If anyone is still lurking here all I need to know is if there is a pan camera control for the 2D editor, its incredibly difficult to work on details without being able to pan around after zooming in.

Sorry brother. Was hoping for the same answer as well lol.

don't know if I'm too late but the editor uses edge scrolling for panning (move the cursor to the side you wanna pan)

Hi, very nice tutorial! A question - when placing buildings you can set the facing left, right, up or down. What about at an angle? There seems to be a button for that but it is greyed out on my version.

It is churches I want to reposition and the churches look pretty terrible - like farm barns. I want something in stone with a steeple. The manual talks about creating larger cathedrals but I can't find instructions.

Hi ! As you do in your video, I want to create my own campaign based on existing elements such as real maps. I created the \Data\Z file and I put my Google map recorded with the BMP format. When I launch CMBN and I go to "Map" menu, nothing appears ! And what is the "O" key to balance opacity ??? Thanks for your help. Nice teaching video anyway. Bye. Laurent

I have buy Combat mission Red Thunder...now, i have take a screen on a google map, rename as you said, save as bmp, and put in the z folder that i create in data...still, i can't find the overlay...what should i do?

you have to name the file correctly you need to read the manual which came with the purchase. Don't rely on KZfaq tutorials.
