All true. Fact is people want to feel like change is happening, or at least believe it is, and advertising is all about optics and publicity. Kaepernick has so much buzz around him because conservative media decided to scapegoat him over his silent protest which in the end landed him without a job. Meanwhile the liberal media were just a few steps shy of turning him into a martyr, rather, they left it to a corporation to do that instead. Now the result of which is he's gets paid for the buzz that was generated, and so ppl are getting angry that he's no longer being "punished," but that he's actually being rewarded (for protesting), which in turn generates more buzz. So win win for Nike. What's particularly clever is that they donate to the republican party, as big corporations do, which in turn serves to stem criticism from the major beneficiaries of those donations; cos everyone who is in power as a result of big money is mostly in it for themselves.
