Of course! I'm a fan of your work and your products and am trying to teach myself the hobby of improving comics through pressing and cleaning.

@@MoneyballComics it sounds to me like we would have a pleasant chat if you wanted to talk on zoom sometime about your experiences. I think people get tired of seeing me do wizard stuff and would appreciate the point of view of someone just starting out!

My pleasure! I hope to produce more videos regarding wet cleaning as I learn how to better use the product.

Compare using just distilled water to wet clean versus Immacuclean. With my experiments, I noticed that the stuff is definitely a surfactant. That last one means that it reduces surface tension in a liquid - in this case water - and the liquid soaks in quicker. I caused less damage when I used a lighter touch, made one pass, let the paper air dry, and then do more passes if needed. If it takes more than 15 minutes to dry to the touch then you got the paper too wet. Your other evidence that you were doing it right was the fact that you did not need to heat press. If there is too much liquid the paper stays wavy after drying. I think you did great. Thank you for sharing your experiences in wet cleaning.

Thank you for the feedback! I totally get your advice on using a light touch and a single pass due to the soaking. I realized that and saw the waves I was introducing to the paper. I will try going over it in a single pass and letting it dry out longer as you suggested. Thanks!

Thanks for documenting your results! I've been using Immacuclean for many months now and it's hard to imagine being without it. I went through my own trial and error process and have now found the system and method that works best for me. I am only using 3ml of the solution, but it still does well to remove dirt....and sometimes a little ink. I wet clean, let dry, clean again if necessary, then the final wipe is with distilled water and then a dry pad to remove streaks. Then into the press. I did find that this does not work well on modern paper and have had some difficulty with silver-age books. Flecks of color will get removed. Best to keep a light pressure and not rub too hard. Hope you find as much success using this as I have. :)

Thank you for this, I appreciate it! I am going to focus my trials on Bronze and Copper books only. I have no shortage of books that would benefit from the method you describe, and I'm looking forward to working on them. Thanks for the advice and I'm happy to hear this is working well for you!

It's definitely a commitment and learning about using the right tool for the right job. It just takes practice and experimentation.

I Wet Clean a lot but I use a Wet Chamber and I only go Natural and everything is Timed and I take Notes as I go along because not all comics are the same in paper / ink where one comic is fairly new and another dried out and frayed from all the years in storage etc. One thing I've learned is You Must Use Controlled Air Flow for fast drying the comic. I never rub with erasers. And I don't ever use warm to hot water as only the 5 main colors have Iron in them but all the other colors don't and you will lose color from the lighter inks if you don't time or use controlled air flow to dry them. I do use a warm to hot air blower to relax the comic with a very light nano mist. ... Nice Video, good luck and always take notes as you go along. ...

Thank you for the feedback; this is great advice! I have attempted to use a humidifier in certain situations and have had mixed results. You make a great point in that all comics are not the same. This is where the note-taking, as you said, comes in handy to help understand the techniques needed from book to book.

@@MoneyballComics Exactly. ... I have 3 quick teaser videos up on KZfaq* if you can view them. I have to many projects going on at one time and really don't have the time to come up here and help some with How To Videos, but go take a view. And read below them as to how I go about not wetting but "Warm Nano Misting Paper" and never really wetting unless it's a must but then I have a bath way of doing that also and it's timed and fastly air dried so you don't end up with the water stains never. RE: What you did up here in this video, next time flip a large container up on its side and somehow try and hang the wet comic in it and just place a circular moving fan set to low or slow to dry that comic a lot faster having the air flow hitting it from all sides over and under drying evenly so you won't end up with those end stained waves. ... Good luck. TAKE NOTES ALWAYS* Then months later when you get on another comic within same age and paper pull the notes out you'll never go wrong this way*

Hello mate, (6/20) I have enjoyed your other videos and this one is great too, because I have just ordered my first immacuclean solution yesterday (6/19) I thought I would checkout some videos of ratios, etc. I have all the cleaning supplies one would expect to have and only used them sparingly because I was using a solution of my own ( I have a record collection and still sell them in my E bay store) I was using this solution on my comic books and did not feel good about it ( not being a scientist and all) So I broke down and bought the immacuclean, thanks for the video, I feel better already. Plus, you can tell you are a good guy who means well, so I am your newest subscriber, here's to us being better cleaners moving forward.

Thank you, sir! I appreciate your kind words. With Immacuclean, I do believe that less is more. For my wet cleanings, I will try to limit my cleaning to one or two passes tops before the press. Then, if it's not as clean as I would have liked, I can take a third pass or use an eraser once the book is dry again. I messed up a couple of books because I kept wiping the book down over and over and the cover pages became almost unstable to the point where I could see the pads pulling up the fibers. However, when I am patient and wipe gently against the book, Immacuclean WILL pull up surface dirt and residue better than an eraser could, IMHO. Good luck on your comic book cleaning journey and let me know how your progress goes. Cheers!
