Yeah I lean more conservative, but in applying heterosexual norms, I don’t get it either. Precautions for touch or exposure that kids would have with an adult of any gender/sexual orientation should be basically the same across the board, so I’d need to hear a good context where it would have any merit.

I don’t get it either. Regardless it’s all a personal preference and personal I guess “issue” - there is an argument to be made that the information doesn’t need to be disclosed. A straight person doesn’t disclose their sexuality on job applications ect. So just don’t make it an issue by disclosing it, as it doesn’t effect your ability to do a job. However I understand that is so much harder to do. Everyone wants to feel accepted and fully comfortable. It’s a tricky situation I’m sure. I hope we get to a place in society where it’s no longer an obstacle at all.
@dannyu5879
@dannyu5879 9 ай бұрын
@aleleeramos the problem with this idea is that straight people are allowed to "disclose" their sexuality constantly in everyday conversations, and for those of us who are gay to *not* disclose requires actively hiding and possibly even lying. What do I say when my coworkers ask me what I did this weekend or who's car I'm driving this week while mine is getting worked on, or who it is that's that's calling me on my phone? If I try to just call my boyfriend my partner that still makes it obvious, so am I supposed to lie and refer to him as a woman, or just completely shut myself off from normal conversations at work? People literally ask about him and about my home life, I can't *not* mention him. So it's not so simple as just "don't disclose it, it doesn't affect work".
@aleleeramos
@aleleeramos 9 ай бұрын
@@dannyu5879 I get that! I appreciate you taking the time to add some more detail and clarification. I guess because I have no problem whatsoever with anyone’s preference it’s hard to me to see how people do. If that makes sense. It’s so frustrating all around I hope we get to a better place in the future. Love is love and it’s as simple as that. ❤️ my boyfriend and I use the term partner. It’s less juvenile in our case. As we are almost 30 and getting engaged soon. But I totally understand what you’re saying. It a lot more than just the titles used ect. It sucks that people have to be so ignorant and just not understand that who people love doesn’t have any effect on who they are as a person. (At least most of the time)

The fact that you were discriminated against angers me beyond belief. Your sexuality does NOT define you. You are an amazing dancer and actor and your sexual preferences didn’t get you to that point in your career. So for the fact that a show fired you because of your sexual preference is so beyond hypocrisy it isn’t even funny. Especially when Disney is making shows where the kids have 2 moms or 2 dads or are gay themselves. It’s all over our screens today. That’s what makes me so angry. Why did they feel the need to discriminate against you and then turned around and did the one thing they fired you for on their shows? Just doesn’t make sense. I’m so happy to see that you are doing well. Don’t let the ugliness get you down. Keep your chin up.

But let’s face it. Everyone I’ve ever known who was a queer, their entire persona revolved around it. Those are also the same people who parade their sexuality around oh so proudly as if they’re trying to piss off society and impose it onto those who have zero interest in all if that. The gay women are the worst about doing this, too. I also found them to be the most untrustworthy, as they are back stabbers, thieves, liars, ghosters, narcissists, you name it. @@kaitlyngault3987 I mean, it’s a big harsh to call me entitled but sure. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to say I’m surprised she was fired from a job in the entertainment industry in this day and age for being queer. I appreciate and acknowledge that discrimination and hatred is still very much an issue for queer people today but job equality has had a massive boost in the last 10-15 years. And that’s why I said it was sick, because wtf does being queer have to do with how well you can do your job or how much does it actually call to your personality or character. So please don’t preach at me without knowing a thing about me.

What is “queer” exactly? Please don’t respond by saying it is an umbrella term because that doesn’t help identify its meaning? I’m asking because a lot of young people are using that word without knowing themselves what it is supposed to mean, which begs the question: why use it at all? Why not simply describe your orientations/preferences/desires and/or aspects of self-id in the long form? If “queer” can mean anything you want it to mean, then it has no real meaning.

Queer simply means not your default cishet. Its a great term for situations that arent black and white like if you’re not sure if you’re bi or gay but you know you’re not straight. Or maybe your gender or sexuality is fluid and youre not quite sure how to describe it. Or maybe simply the person doesnt want to share their business with you. All it means is part of the community and thats all thats relevant honestly.

@@EllisonEvergreen Thanks. “Queer” is also a pejorative, an antiquated word for ‘ill’ or ‘sickness’, used instead of ‘odd’ or ‘strange’ and an academic observational term mostly pertaining to homosexuality. Only relatively recently have people started to self-identify as “queer” subsequently adding to intra-group and generational confusion and conflict. To your points, if someone is unsure of their orientation or gender identity then they can simply say they are unsure. If “fluid” feels apt then state you are “fluid”. It’s easier and helpful to communicate at length and with accuracy than to repurpose existing terms and remain misunderstood.

@@JetPackFlame well the options of “fluid” and “unsure” in my experience lead to follow up questions. Ive used both to describe my gender. However when i said queer people dropped it there. So in my experience in NY and CA “queer” is a great word to use. Maybe thats different where youre from. And the word “sick” and “ill” also meant extremely cool in the 90’s. You saw someone jump off a skateboard and do a cartweel? That was a “sick move!” So i am personally not bothered by reclaiming or repurposing a word used to describe my community for years to make it a positive empowering word that prevents me from having to explain myself to strangers im not interested in explaining more than the bare minimum to.

In an industry that actively protects and helps child predators; how is a child actor's being queer a safety issue?

You mean that people forced to pretend to be seen as something created by a company might also be queer and forced to hide that?🧍🏽‍♀️

First of all… I don’t understand why it needs to be announced. Keep it to yourself. I don’t go around announcing that I’m straight. It’s weird.

If it outweighs everything why is she crying. No heterosexual person goes around talking about their sexual identity… why should anyone else. It’s a private matter, not a public announcement.

I do. I talk about my boyfriend all the time. My coworkers ask about him. So I guess you're just mad at people for being gay.🤷 What? US straights can gossip for hours about our love lives, but the gays have to stay quiet? Grow the fuck up, Yani.

Not sure how it went back in the day, but certainly in today’s day and age, there’s a lot of people who would probably deem you unsafe IF you pushed this sexuality onto children (which you don’t seem to be doing to me. Even though I don’t agree with your choices, you’re mainly talking about your experiences and just going about life. That’s one thing). It’s why I don’t watch a lot of what’s on TV because they just keep pushing this stuff onto children. Will definitely be watching your Dear Hollywood videos because I’m curious about what you have to say since I believe Hollywood is completely demonic. Much love from me and I hope you do see one day how much the Lord loves you too ❤️
