i came out in 1970. can you imagine what reactions i got from family and the community

First of all you have beautiful eyes. I didn't come out until at the age of 20 yrs. old and in college. I messed around with my first guy at 15 but didn't like it. I dated girls from that age until 18 and started with guys again around that time. Come out is hard for some people but it was easy for me. I just told my grandparents first and than my mom and my dad didn't talk to me for three weeks. But all is good to this day.

I came out to my dad over this quarantine and it was the best decision i made

People will look at you and say "I can't trust you." The thing with your friend (hold his coat) and the principle's office (outing him) will not play well in the real world. I stumbled upon your story. Great message of inspiration and hope. I'm older than your parents. I applaud them for evolving and growing beyond their own insecurities. GOD has made no mistakes. I didn't "come out" until I was in my early 30s. I was reared in a military household where there was no outward display of emotions. Each family member represented the family when in the public's eye. I heard all of the negative homophobic statements within the forest of home. However, when I wrote a three-page letter to explain who I was to my parents, I received nothing but LOVE from them. "We accept you love you as you are!" I had to pause and think, "Who are you and where are my parents?" The most important lesson is to Love yourself and know yourself, at any age. GOD has made no mistakes in YOU, His Creation! I'm glad that I witnessed your story and saw your Excellence! Much admiration and respect from someone who has lived three sets of 18 years on this earth. I'm never too old to learn!

Its crazy cuz I felt like the same thing happened to me... I was talking to this boy who had a girlfriend (who was my friend but i didnt know they were dating) and he always called me late night and texted me telling me how he cant wait to show me off infront of the world... and One day my mom asked for my phone to make a call and he called and she declined... and he texted and was like “Damn bae, answer your phone”... and thats when she came screaming telling me that it isnt right... My family is very religious and even me I am a firm believer in God and even when I came out I prayed so much the only person I could really talk to was God... But she was like “it isnt in our blood to be gay, in the bible its says its wrong”... Then she blamed me dancing because she thought only girls danced and she kept asking “Were you raped or touched”... and I wasnt, I was just always.... DIFFERENT... She took me out of Dance and We didnt talk for like 4 months and that hurt me because I felt like she was one of my bestfriends... I didnt have anyone to talk to, not even any gay friends... So I was lonely and I spent that time Talking to God and really working on my relationship with him... When me and my mom talked it was hella emotional, but now Im trying to get back into Dance even tho its hard because I cant compete anymore but theres still so much that I can do, and Im trying to work Hard... And the boy I was talking to I told him that I needed a little break... and then i found out he was dating one of my friends so I ended that quickly and I ended up telling her during the summer and he lied and took it to Instagram and said “He was texting me on some faggot shit”.... Which im just like girl... you are too😂😂 But for me being Gay doesnt define me, just how a straight person doesnt need to tell the world “Hey, Im heterosexual” I dont need to do that either... If anyone asks, I’ll tell them... But other than that, You in my business? Dont do that😂 I still dont have any gay friends, but hopefully I get some... Im glad you are living in your truth and happy and glowing... Although we dont talk, you’re such a light and a GREAT person and I know we would click if we knew each other...
