Still miss the old park. Best memories of my childhood, not just baseball but the concerts too. The day on the park with journey, thin lizzy, Santana, Eddie money. What a great place to grow up with.

This got me emotional and I wish I would of seen it but was only 3 when old comiskey was torn down, but everytime I go to new comiskey I always try to go visit where home plate and batters box is and picture what it would of been like to see a game at old comiskey.

I was at that game. Came from Toledo with my mom and we sat under one of the arches in the lower left field deck. I still have the video - taped it - a VHS tape - because it was on CBS that Saturday. Ozzie’s game winning hit was off MLB Network’s Dan Plesac.

This was just well done. I never got to go to a game at Old Comiskey, I was only a year old when it closed. Though lately after getting more into baseball history I've felt nostalgic about it, even though I was never there. I bought a seat from the old park, so I guess that's as close as I'll get. Thanks for this video.

This was very well done. I'm 57 and was lucky enough to have a father that was part of a full season ticket plan. I went to games since 1972. While I have found memories of old Comiskey, the current park will always my summer home.

It truly is sad to see that we lost such a treasured park from the Jewel Box age of parks. Hopefully I will get to visit Fenway and Wrigley, the only two Jewel Box parks left.

Fenway & Wrigey are the best two parks in all of MLB. When you go to Wrigley - attend TWO different games. Be sure to sit in the Bleachers for one of them (cannot go to main part of the park from Bleachers, thus two games).
@MFPhoto1

@@acousticshadow4032 Three different games, if you can go when the wind is behaving differently. Wrigley usually gets a crosswind, which gives you one type of game. When the wind blows in, you get another type -- a pitchers game. Then when the wind blows out, which contrary to popular mythology seldom happens, you get a hitters game. Wrigley seems to play differently day to day.

I went to opening day at the new ballpark across the street. I looked out at the old ballpark that they had just started tearing down. They had knocked out a big section of wall along the right-field line and it was just so sad. Four generations of my family spent many awesome days at that ballpark. I saw two no-hitters, disco demolition and the Aerosmith concert when the stadium caught on fire. We used to go to mccuddy's Tavern across the street where Babe Ruth and other Hall of Fame baseball players used to drink. The final Saturday Night fireworks display in that ballpark was the most spectacular unbelievable fireworks display of all time. I was very lucky to have had those opportunities and I sure do miss that old ballpark.

I have occasional dreams that Old Comiskey remains standing, only to wake up saddened to realize it was only a dream. The new ballparks don't come close to capturing the feel of Old Comiskey. Fantastic video!

As a die hard Hawks fan since the mid-80’s I have had the same dreams about the old Stadium. As a young fan I was proud of how unique our Stadium was, from the short ice, low scoreboard, and of course the pipe organ and back then being one of if not the only team with a goal horn.

This a beautiful video. I miss Comiskey Park every year. I will always remember walking up behind homeplate to see the beautiful shades of green. I will be going to playoff games with my sons this year. Less then 1 year since the death of my Dad. I miss him. I miss the magic of the old ball park. Great memories. Thank you for the video

Sorry to hear about your dad, Matt. Baseball is so connected to family and the ballparks are kind of like a second home for us diehards where the Sox are like family. Hope we bring home two wins Sunday and Monday!

By Brian Johnson I’m a 70 year old Yankee fan but more importantly a baseball fan. I love to visit ballparks, especially the old parks. Regretfully ,never attended a game at Comiskey Park. However, have been several times to the new park and Wrigley Field. The White Sox have always been my second favorite team after the Yankees, and remember as a second grade kid 8:01 rooting for them In the 1959 WS. Loved watching games in black and white from Comiskey Park. In honor of the historic ballpark I did stand on the home plate and reflected on my childhood memories .

Is this a series on this channel?? I hope it's a series on this channel I could watch these for HOURS!! (Sidenote, what if there was a second channel for '90s comiskey' (which is no longer new, and thats wonderful cuz a generation or so have grown up with that as their park. )

This why I would LOVE to go see both a Red Sox game and a cubs game. Because both of those teams have what a lot of other stadiums don’t have. History. When you walk into those stadiums, you can feel the history when you watch a game there, like for 100 years some of the greatest baseball games have been played here. I would love to get the chance to do it someday.

Fenway is my home ballpark. I flew to Chicago for the last two games at Comiskey. They bulldozed all that history - the fools!
@MFPhoto1
@MFPhoto1 Жыл бұрын
I've been to Fenway twice. The first time I had a great seat. I was down the left field line at the very bottom seat where the section was in the shape of a V. I could look right down into home plate and watch how the pitchers and catchers work. The second time I had a terrible seat. I was on the right field side a few sections back. I missed the first three innings because late comers blocked my view. Even when my view was not blocked it was hard to see the field.

Growing up in Chicago, during the summer my parents sent me to South Side Day Camp. The first time I went to Comiskey Park was an outing with the camp. I remember being quite angry that we had to leave after the first inning. Later my father would take the family to a night game -- mostly for me since I was the only real fan in the family. I would yell and shout until my throat hurt -- and then I would keep yelling. I loved both Comiskey and Wrigley. When it was first built Comiskey Park was at the cutting edge of ball park technology. The first Sox ballpark was a former cricket field which went by several names over the years -- 39th Street Grounds, South Side Park, and Schorling Park. Reportedly the ballpark was in poor condition, not suited for baseball, and a ridiculously short left field line. Eventually the other American League owners threatened AL founder and Sox owner Charles Comiskey with being thrown out of his own league if he did not build a new ball park. Comiskey responded by building a baseball palace which at the time exceeded the state of the art. For decades, Comiskey Park was the crown jewel of baseball stadiums, only eventual to be surpassed. Age also played a role. Eventually, Comiskey would have to be replaced.

That was very well said, a great story, thanks for sharing. I have a shirt that says I still call it comisky and it’s black and white. The night I wore it to a concert event I drew so much attention than an other shirt I wore in my life. I have a channel and did a video for my followers to see where the old park was and where the new park is now

Sox ownership did not do a good job of upkeep on Comiskey, quite unlike Cubs' ownership did with Wrigley. Eventually Comiskey decayed to the point where refurbishing and preservation was either too costly or not possible. Tiger Stadium has mostly been demolished.
