Jon: "If you don't cast Austere Command, I'll leave Jeleva alone for 5 turns." Stephen: "Deal. I cast this completely unrelated spell targeting you." Jon: "I exile Jeleva." Couldn't even keep his word for a full turn, let alone 5.

Pretty big deal here, when Jeremy died, the Grasp of Fate no longer being on the battlefield means that the exiling of cards like the Mind Dilation would return. This is different from cards like Oblivion Ring, which have a second ability that is used for returning the cards, which would not trigger if that card were the card in question instead. Stephen Green having Mind Dilation every turn after Jeremy dies changes the game IN A HUUUGE WAY.

not sure if someone said this already, but when jeremy died everyone wouldve gotten their stuff under grasp of fate, its not like o-ring. its all one effect so when it leaves no trigger is put on the stack. its on the gather page lol.

this is like... the third or fourth time he's run that same deck. it's always SO MUCH FUN to watch zzzzzzz. in the future if you see jon playing zur just hit the back button and save yourself three hours.

Really really need more PSA on Split second... 2:04:44 Mind's Dilation resolves BEFORE krosan resolves, effectively countering the exiled card. Split second just says you cant cast spells or activate abilities while it's on the stack. It does NOT say ignore stack rules or triggers. I only mention this because it drastically affected so much of the interactions at that point of the game. It was not the only stack order issue at that point. Messy stack is bad juju.

The Mind's Dilation trigger, and thus the spell cast off it, resolves before the spell that triggered it.

I noticed that mistake as well. Also, I believe that because Mind's Dilation is a 'may' and Krosen Grip has Split Second he could not cast it anyways and it'd just remain exiled.

At 2:05 there is a misunderstanding of how Split Second works. It does not prevent objects from being put on the stack. It only prevents (all) players from casting and activating. The trigger from Mind's Dilation would still go on the stack, and resolve before Krosan Grip. Mind's Dilation's ability will exile the top card, but it can't be cast, because Krosan Grip is on the stack. This distinction is also important for Counterbalance. Counterbalance can, in fact, counter Krosan Grip.

Interestingly something that is not a spell or an abillity also works, a good example is unmorphing a card like willbender to redirect a kroson grip.

Damnit Steven, why didn't you Merciless Eviction the enchantments and Go for the Throat on the Sun Titan? Would have shut Jon down something fierce, though I don't think he would have survived the turrn afterr anyhow.

Top Three Poll Idea: 1. Top Three Times I was scared by Jonathan Suarez' irl steely death gaze, often in response to something Mr. Green has said/done. 2. Top Three Times Mr. Green has managed to Buffalo someone into not attacking him simply by using the irl Chewbacca Defense. 4. Top Three Jeremy Noell most passive-aggressive moments :) 5. Top Three Times Justin Parnell's Face Fell as he dug through his library with some cool draw engine and realized there was no card in it that could save him.

I love that Mr. Green held the cards up to the Camera and Director Kyle said it was good enough because we could see the pictures. New players don't know, but once you really get into the game, you memorize all as many cards as you can by their pictures just to make it easy to recall them whenever necessary. That being said. It's always a good idea to read the cards that are played carefully. I really love that Justin and Steven show that it's better for two people to have double mana than one.

1:00:25 Actually, Even if you do put your commander in the command zone during an 'Exile until X' Effect, it will still come back. Well, for most cards anyone, there are some wonky wordings out there but most don't actually care which zone the card is put in.

Oh, And a little later at 1:02:44 You don't shuffle for chaos warp if there is nothing shuffled in, you just reveal the top card.

2:31:10 The return of cards from Grasp of fate is due to a duration (Like banisher priest) not a trigger (Like Fiend Hunter) So the cards under it do return if the player controlling it leaves the game.

I might be wrong buuuuut if im not mistaken : you cant flip a instant or Sorcery, basicly the only things that can be flipped over are non-land permanents

For Manifesting you are correct. Stephen's enchantment has two abilities though.

Also John, it's alittle specail to complain about having graveyard hate, and the previous turn you demonic tutored. The Sun Titan is still a good get, but you had an option to shut down the enchantment destruction.

#TeamParnell. Justin, I have a deck for you. Now I know you hate Kamigawa, but I don't think the other three really understand why you hate it and they need to be instilled with fear of it. Reki, the History of Kamigawa is mono-green storm. You're gonna cast many spells each turn and keep drawing cards so you can keep casting legends. This is by far my favorite deck to play and I really want you to show off this underplayed Commander. The enchantment steven has has the ability "Exile a face down permanent you control: You may cast the exiled card." So while the ruling you quoted is correct, it doesn't apply here.

His enchantment allows him to exile it and then cast it from exile. Its the bottom portion of the card that manifested the card in the first place.

LOL I notice Jon gets pretty snippy when he feels like he is close to a win. I have a buddy who does that, sits there bemoaning the lack of mana and then they play Iona with a Helm of Hosts in play after you left them alone for a few pitiful turns...I lost it! I spent the whole game kicking arse with my Mardu EDH deck and he spends each turn crying, than *BOOM* IONA stole my victory. I love how he argues that Iona cost 9cmc and makes it O-K to play... #FookinBanIonaAlready or #AlwaysPlayBlue

Do you guys have competitive commander videos? First Zur swing wasn't diplomatic immunity or necropotence so I knew it was casual but those 4 commander built fully competitive with fast Mana would be an interesting watch much shorter videos but I love competitive multi player commander idk why people frown on it

I think John's mistake woth his hidden role was picking a commander that the other players know is powerful and annoying. He needed something that could be some sort of control or a not very threatening deck like Justins so he could fulfill it while not being the table treat at the time 😆

I agree a little. But at the same time playing color combinations, while they usually play out very similarly, is not the same as playing the exact same deck 3 or 4 times.
