-look down or at an angle -rotate stomach side to side per each stroke (to prevent shoulder injuries) -kick from hips with straight , not bent legs -pull straight during your breath break -don’t breathe late and breathe out slowly

This video will make you think you've learned how to swim already, but the pool will say otherwise later.

Absolutely. I do well in 6 feet of water ...but listening of 12 feet or diving in it crates so much panic that it seems that my heart has stopped beating or I will die surely.

I was naturally acquiring some swimming techniques in freestyle as I was paying attention to details. Glad to see it being validated in this video.

Freestyle is probably as difficult as learning the piano...and I've done both! Breathing, kicking, turning, rotating, center of balance....etc. I've been swimming for many years but still have so much to learn - like the piano!!!
@ethelfleming43758 жыл бұрын
Yea it took me forever to learn freestyle, and yea I kno i play piano too.
@nolathenerd60978 жыл бұрын
Same. I rather do piano though 😂 But I love swim non the less

+winterdesert1 just like a piano or swiming or any other if you learned the basics you can learn anything.

Thank you for this. I am 55 years old and just learned to swim about 2 years ago in adult swimming lessons. I swim 3-4 times a week now and although some individuals at the pool say I have gotten so much better and faster there is always room for improvement. I noticed from your video about swimming flat and I do have that habit and believe it or not...just like you said...I've had some problems out of my left shoulder. I thought I must be catching the water too hard, but this makes me realize I wasn't rotating.

My main problem is that I run out of breath after the first lap and I already need to take a break to breath, meanwhile everyone around me just keep going and going non stop like it's no big deal, and I'm just trying not to pass out. when I try to swim slower to reduce intensity, It becomes harder not to sink. I need some serious tips
@9w2mnr9 жыл бұрын
try reduce paddling the legs, it won't sink if we less paddling. try to put increase on hands see if there a difference
@kuya49z9 жыл бұрын
Muhammad Nabil I was about to comment the same problem thanks dude for the help
@9w2mnr9 жыл бұрын
thanks kuya49z yup, I was having the same problem too, the breath also need to control. Think not to go fast or to reach fast but to enjoy the freestyle hihi.

This was a good video! As a competitive swimmer I say this video is spot on. "Easiest stroke to learn, most difficult to master" - Agreed. It seems super easy and then you realize, to gain seconds it is about technique 75%+ and strength
@johnswimcat8 жыл бұрын
Excellent video. I've been making most of these mistakes for years. I knew the stroke didn't feel right but I didn't know how to sort it out. All this makes perfect sense. Thank you so much, I'll bookmark this video and work on the stroke

Surprisingly very helpful! I'm actually a bit irritated now, since for PhysEd in highschool, I had swimming at the teacher instructed us to look forward while we swam rather than look directly below us. Thanks for this. I always used to struggle with breathing : )

I suppose ! am a "self taught" swimmer, as it's been decades since I took lessons. I was doing many of these mistakes! After the correction, it trimmed noticeable strokes off my laps and I find that I'm suddenly across the pool way faster while remaining much less fatigued. Thank you so much!

Recent thoughts are contrary to this, the power is from the palm and wrist, keep the fingers open. This sources power in the latissimus area rather than the shoulders, shortens the fulcrum, takes the strain off those shoulder joints. try it, you will feel a difference. i

Wow, thanks for endorsing the things I managed to figure out myself since I got back into swimming after a decades-long break. Actually, it's the first time I've taken my swimming seriously. In addition to the points in the video, one other thing I try to do is to synchronise my kicks with my arms. I do big, full-leg kicks and they seem to sync well with the opposite limb, so as my right arm comes over, I kick with my left leg. In other words, their rhythm is the same. I'm sure this makes a huge difference, but would be interested to hear if that makes sense to any swimming coaches out there.
