Put a slight back bevel when sneaking up on your line, easier tweaking if needed. Less wood to plane

What happens when the wood expands and contracts?
@HighPeaksHome10 ай бұрын
Nothing more than the usual slight gap that happens with natural trim. The tighter we get it as carpenters the less noticable it becomes over the seasonal changes. In one of my earlier long form videos i did a garage conversion where i put wood everywhere and employed this technique in multiple locations. I was at that location recently and did not find any gaps anywhere. This technique is not the awnswer for all situations but is a good one to have in the "tool box" thanks for watching.

The house will explode! This is why the Titain submarine failed. Obviously those were expansion gaps. The home is now doomed!

That's why they make shoe base just saying it's faster and you don't have an uneven baseboard

True story, shoe moulding is another option. Thanks for sharing

First off it’s called a scribe. Your scribing the base to the floor. Second you used the scribe wrong your supposed to have the scribe flat on the floor while marking the base to get an accurate line. You can still see gaps between the floor and the base.

Wood filler ?
@HighPeaksHome11 ай бұрын
Wood filler wouldn't look professional, nor would it last in the long term. Thanks for the question

I do install shoe when i have to or a architect calls it out. Thanks for adding to the conversation

Ya how many takes did u have to do? More than the 1 you showed
@HighPeaksHome11 ай бұрын
It was only one. I only have one camera so the positioning did not line up quite right. I did end up sanding it twice if that is what you mean. Once to make sure i was on track and a second time to increase the back bevel. Thanks for calling me out and watching.

Your baseboard looks alot like a fence board.
@HighPeaksHome11 ай бұрын
Its just 1x6, so im sure you could use it for that.
