Hey AG, Tim here, ur Poncho nut, just commented back on the dude that gave ya flack on 3 tube headers.....I KNOW PONCHO'S.....for a stock/mild build, we know 3 tubes are fine, AND ur gonna run on Dyno with Exh manifolds.....some folks dont get it...NEVER are the pulses fightin each other, and it wud be FINE in a stock styled machine.......i like what i see, u've done a FINE job!!!......the 276 roller is PERFECT for ur customers application..... once again, proper homework was done!!!!...its not a bracket race car, its gonna be a driver......NICE JOB AG......love it!!!

Yessir! And unique classic souped up Pontiac sound. You can't really appreciate it until you hear it driving in the car. Some may not like it but I dig it and know that is a fiesty Injun when I hear it.

I have to say it proved to be an excellent cam for my 350 SBC as well. Combined it with a set of factory Vortecs, 10:1 compression and it it pushed my 3600 lb street Camaro into the 12's. Better still it was making good top end power going 106 MPH. I went coast to coast with the same car too. Keep up the good work Mr G.

My first car was a 1964 GTO 389/4 spd that I bought from a guy that was a supervisor at Borg Warner. He was real good at tuning cars and it had a brand new trans in it, so you know it was a real runner. Unfortunately, I was a maniac, tore it up, & sold it. My next car was a '64 Polara 500 383/4 spd. That car held up better to my abuse and I became a Mopar lover after that, owning many cars that are just dream cars now. I did own another GTO in the late 1970s, though. A '68 400/automatic. That was a real goody, too.

I am running a XM276HR in my 1971 Camaro SS 396. it's a killer street cam. the XM276HR is the Marine version of the XR276HR. the spec is almost identical, only they widened the LSA. the XR276HR has a 110-degree LSA and the XM276HR has a 112-degree LSA. the wider LSA makes more vacuum for power breaks and the idle is not as choppy. it also widens the rpm range between peak torque and peak horsepower. which is much better in a street driven car. if I was building street strip car, then the 110 LSA would be better. for an all-out race engine, i would go even smaller, like 108 or 106. depending on displacement.

Good video! Good luck getting the performer RPM to fit under the hood of the 65 GTO, tried one on my TransAm with duel snorkel Formula hood (70-73 hood) and couldn’t shut the hood with just the carburetor in place no air cleaner! Very disappointing day had to put the old intake back on!
@kimmorrison91692 ай бұрын
yeah, got the same problem with my 396 Nova. No damn space with the Super Sport (non cowl) hood.

An Edelbrock performer with a 4150 style carb fits under my 70 formula hood, with a proper air cleaner .
@toddbrown22362 ай бұрын
The engine had a Performer RPM manifold on it when I removed the engine from the car for rebuild and there were no clearance issues. I haven't measured the difference in height with this new manifold but I'm guessing they're similar. In any case we'll know for sure when I reinstall it in the car later this summer.

When you take that engine to the Dyno could you do a quick test between stock log exhaust manifolds and the three tube header that’s on the engine now thank you

What’s up with the three tube headers? Can’t you use 4? Those headers look like they’ve been to hell and back.

3 tube headers are VERY common in the pontiac world, if you know.,.....YES 4 tubes are better, but in a pinch, and for what AG Is doin, 3 tubes are fine.....it aint a bracket race motor, and breathes still better than manifolds!!
@Charger19082 ай бұрын
@@user-bc9sz1dj1gactually it was meant as a joke that obviously he didn’t get. Have you ever tried to bolt up 4 tube Pontiac headers? Alight engine sound judges how's my 400 SBC with 28 year comp cam 268 HE sound in this short 20 sec clip yes that right back when comp cams made cams that dont go flat I run 4 degrees advanced on chain stock home ported iron heads 650 cfm AVS 2 Carb and a now swapped out old HEI home tuned for a Progressive Ignition drop in HEI you guys should check them out no more springs or weights to mess with for timing no vacuum advance to mess with its all tuned by you at home on your provided app on tablet or phone once you tune your own curve on the fly you dont need the app anymore unless you want to live time load new tune modes. Its an incredible setup comes ready to run baseline start up tune then just go out and drive and adjust on the fly. I found out my engine likes 24degrees at idle 640RPM 50 degrees all in at 2400 RPM the torque is incredible. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mZl2fcSCqay8g58.html
