Looks great already,i love to see the trains run at a nice relaxed speed.Ive still got years at my speed to work on my OO scale layout,because as im sure as with many people once the track is down and the general outline is done,there are always new ideas coming into my head on how to make it look better,but then there is no rush! But i do love what you have done there,and one day i will have a Kato American themed little layout im sure of it.

I'm really interested to see how this turns out! Looking great so far. I love how an accident with the camera has created a need for a new wagon and breakdown crane. Cant wait to see that built and in use!

Reminds me of the time I built an N gauge layout on a notice board ,I had fleishmann piccolo track as a brought i small set from beaties remember them in a sale my son was 6 months and would sit in my knee watching daddies train every now and then a little hand would come out to grab it he knocked over my minitrix class 27 no damage as the board was a grey cloth type material hehehehe we still have a box load of N gauge farish dapol and a nice kato Eurostar he’s 30 now ,great work ,Mark 👍🏻😊

Wreck-train equipment, as we call it in the States, isn’t a bad idea. Not only is that different from what usually runs, but if the new N layout does get to exhibitions, you can tell those who don’t know what it is. Maybe a reason to also add to your library? :)

hello, mike and douglas. bill here from tamworth, N.S,W., AUSTRALIA. just watching a few of the videos of small layouts you've produced, and obviously they are NOT SMALL, as the lines continue off the board (out of sight) -- BY HOW MUCH ?????? would like to see what you do off board, out of sight. ALL LAYOUTS LOOK VERY GOOD.

Nice little layout. I think you should make the upper level a more rural area to contrast with the lower urban scenes. Maybe some trees toward the back so you can't see the the entire loop of the steam train. The viaduct looks great. Maybe some older buildings within it. Have you considered 3-D printing a steam loco like a tank engine?

Hi. I understand where you are coming from in wanting to build a railway on a very tight budget; personally, I prefer to pay a little more the extra fine detail of the commercial products. That said, I do like a bargain. I like the look of some of your N gauge wagons and so looked at the cost of your 3D-printed ones and chassis(?) from PECO, etc. When you add up the total cost, it is as cheap (or cheaper) to but 2nd hand items through eBay. Never-the-less, I shall keep watching these videos to see how you build your N gauge layout and maybe get some ideas.
@BudgetModelRailways

Yes but only just and PECO are all UK outline. Of course for me they are cheaper because I buy the bodies at cost! Lol

Another winning design! I see you have an Outland Models building. Their plastic buildings are nice but stay away from their 3D stuff...absolute crap...but you've got your own 3D printer. That signal box is beautiful...who makes that? Thanks for sharing the possibilities of the small/micro layouts.
@BudgetModelRailways

The building is great, as you say their 3d printed items not so good. Sadly the signal box was bought 2nd hand so I don't know its origin, probably faller or kibri?

Bit of a random question, do you know of the tight radius curve you have on the top layer will take the 11-109 chassis? Thinking of finally building an OO9 layout but don't want to waste money on something that won't run my stuff... Cheers!

I hope so because thats what I hope to run on it! Lol. Kato say the pocket line steam loco will run on 6in radius and its powered by the new 11-109 chassis in the first coach so fingers crossed. I hope to get it wired up tomorrow to check.

Another great update. I’m curious as to why you’re doing the viaduct as individual bricks rather than the more usual brick paper? I’m guessing the quality of the finished product will be higher? Could you do sone close ups of it in your next video? Are you going to move to that sort of detailed build more and more going forward?

Will that crane be a normal rail crane or one of those huge Kirow ones designed to work under catenary? That BoBo diesel looks like it could be a good candidate to go one step further with the body design and convert it to a TE10 like double locomotive

Today, the 30th of November 2021 I have some time to think over building a small, very small layout indeed. On the layout in this video you are presenting such a small layout I'm planning to build. My question is not about the two wide basic tracks but concerns the top layout on the let's say the hillside. It's been built in N gauge. What's the seize of this top-hill layout? What kind of track did you use? The point is that I do not have much space to make one big budget model railway but I'd like to invest in several very small ones not much bigger than the seize of a pizza box. Such small layouts are the so-called pizza-layouts, as you might know..... So perhaps you can help me a bit by telling me what I need to build these.... Thank you so much! Stay safe in these difficult times. By the way, every time you publish a video on KZfaq I'm excited and interested in the progress of your creative layout projects 🤗 Dirck Lammers Middelburg (NL)

Hi Dick. Kato make a 12in diameter loop which I have used to make a very small layout with lots of scenery, we have a video on it if you have a look through. It's much easier and simpler than using flexi track

When you mentioned a breakdown train, I immediately thought of this video that was uploaded by one of your fellow countrymen, Richard of New Junction: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nb2kaLiAsbebe2g.html The amount of work it took to do this must have been massive, but the end result is pretty awesome!

@@thomaschambers4894 I used 11-105 but it's possible 11-106 or 11-107 might also fit. You do need to add plenty of weight to get enough traction to pull more than a few wagons, although with it mine will pull 12 15ft wagons. Peco wagon chassis are hard to get at the moment.
