“Better by a mile”? Kallis averages more than Sachin in Tests and that is despite playing most of his Cricket in South African Bowling friendly pitches. “Kallis was a great all-rounder”? Stokes and Flintoff are great all rounders. Kallis is probably the best all rounder to ever grace the game by a long mile alongside Sobers.

Averages hardly matter. It's the game that you sell. A cricketer sells his skills. I just compared the batting skills of the batsmen of that generation & yes, Brian Lara & Sachin are the best from those years. There's no point in denying that by making things complicated. I never doubted all round skills of Kallis. He is one of the Greatest All rounders in cricket, though not the best for me (Gary Sobers is there.)

lara literally just used to carry west indies. there was a point reached where opposition did'nt even tried to target lara, they just get remaining 10 wickets. lara was not selfish at all.

if Kallis had played 200 test matches he would have left Sachin's records behind and he also has 250+ test wickets

1. I think you have bought your T.V. from Mars because this doesn't happen. 2. Between his debut and 2008 he was SAs most crucial batsman, post 2008 it was his partnership with Amla that was crucial. Sachin played for 24 years in which 1989-1999 (10 years) he was the most important one, rest of his career Dravid,Laxman,Sehwag,Ganguly. 3. But batting wise they were still brittle. Partly agree.

Who said that batting gets easier in south africa. South africa has one of the most ugliest conditions in the world where if you do not have proper technique then you can even break your bones. As the game progresses the ball climbs like a rocket from cracks and sometimes sneaks low like a snail.

For an Indian playing in grassy Is more difficult..for a south African turning wickets is more difficult

Sunil Khatri not really. Steve Smith has averaged over 62 despite starting his career as a leg break bowler. For background, Sachin averages 53, Kallis averages 55, Ponting averages 51 and the closest to Smith is Sangakkara at 57. From 2014-2017, Smith averaged 84 and to top it off Smith attained the 2nd highest Test rating in history in Dec 2017 when he reached 945 second to only Don Bradman. And he still going as strong as ever scoring runs everywhere all the time, his average dwarfing all the so-called “legends”. I think it is human nature to overrate the past and underestimate what we currently have. All of this despite Test pitches becoming increasingly bowler friendly of late. Before you say Sachin had to face McGrath, Brett Lee, Akhtar, Allan Donald, Warne etc, Smith had to face Steyn, Morkel, Boult, Wagner, Anderson, Broad, Bumrah, Rabada, Ngidi, Archer etc.
