DEAREST , HELLO . I OBSERVE SABBATH AS WELL . WITH YOU , DO YOU HEAT FOODS ON THE SABBATH DAY ? AND DO YOU CLEAN UP AFTER MEAL , SUCH AS PUTTING FOODS AWAY , WASH THE DISHES , POTS AND PANS ? DO YOU VACUUM THE KITCHEN FLOOR ? AS FOR MY FAMILY , WE HAVE EVERYTHING FOODS , CLEANING THE HOUSE DONE BY THURSDAY , AND FRIDAY ALL DAY TO SUNSET SATURDAY , IF THE SUNSET IS AT 7 : EVENING , WE MAKE IT OFFICIAL AT DARK 🌑🌑🕶️🕶️ EVENING . WE WOULD NORMALLY NOT COOK , OR HEAT ANY FOOD , WE EAT MOSTLY FRESH SALADS , COLD FRESH FRUITS OR VEGETABLE JUICES , AND VEGAN CHEESES , AND CRACKERS WITH ALL SORTS OF FRESH ORGANIC FRUITS . NO WE NEVER EVER USE ANY ELECTRICAL DEVICES ON SABBATH , WE USE THE COOLER WITH LOTS OF ICE CUBES TO KEEP THE FOOD COOL , WE USE DRY ICE . THE PLATES OR DISHES ARE ALL SET ON THE TABLE FOR THE SABBATH MEAL , WE LEAVE AS IS , EVERYTHING ON THE TABLE TILL THE SABBATH DAY IS OVER AND WE CLEAN . BEFORE CLEANING WE SAY OUR PRAYER . WE SING AFTER MEAL , PRAY BEFORE AND AFTER MEAL , AND READ THE WORD OF GOD TILL DARK SUNSET . I LOVE AND ENJOY THE HOLY SABBATH DAY , ITS VERY SPECIAL DAY FOR ME , AND MY HOLY FATHER . AMEN .

I'm not Jewish, but I bake with my children every weekend (8 year old twin boys). We back biscuits or cakes or slices for their morning teas for the coming school week. This way we spend time together, they learn cooking skills, learn that cooking takes time/money/effort, get to choose treats and learn that food is LOVE. And yes, cooking with children takes at LEAST twice as long! I wouldn't change this routine . Greetings from Australia ❤

About 95% of South African Jews are Ashkenazi, so it has been intetesting to see the differences between Sephardi and Ashkenazi way of Judaism. I wish you snd your family Shabbat Shalom.🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦.

What a wonderful help your daughter Naomi is, and she is so capable. Clever girl! My older daughter loved preparing Shabbos with me, and in fact it was she who encouraged me to bake challah at home instead of buying. The younger girl wasn't much interested, though occasionally she would help with cakes. Today both are married and mothers of several children, and are amazing and imaginative cooks. The younger one now loves baking, and making elaborate fruit platters.

Sara, I just stumbled upon your channel last night and am thrilled. I am not Jewish, but I do cook a lot and your cooking is inspirational. One thing I noticed is that there is a corollary between your cooking and the Southern cooking my maternal grandmother did when I was growing up. My family is from the Deep South in the US and I could see my grandmother cooking dishes very similar to yours. She would make Salmon Cakes, smothered chicken, pot roast with mashed potatoes and caramelized onions, salads and/or veggies, biscuits, and Hummingbird Cake for dessert. It was such an act of love which yours clearly is as well. Thank you so much for the work you do both in the cooking and the editing of the videos so we can all enjoy. May peace be with you and your family always. - Zach in Oregon (U.S.)

There is a beauty to giving our children the gift of helping. My baby is now getting closer to 40, but I recall well when he wanted to help Mom to fold the towels. He thought it was so interesting. At first I kept thinking "Ohhh it is going to take so much longer..." but his little face was so earnest and wanting to "help" and that spoke to my heart. So I gave him his own stack of washcloths or flannels. He was so happy, he just chirped away talking to me and was so pleased that at bath time he would choose the washcloth HE folded. Bless. It was lovely. Your daughter is doing a fantastic job!! I love Naomi's cupcake!! She has that magical touch like mommy! Well done!

It’s so important to teach children life skills, including cooking, as they are growing up. 1 time I got stuck at work because of a severe snowstorm, I was usually home by 3:30pm , I didn’t get home until almost 8pm. My then 13 yo son had a hot dinner ready for me , as well as my slippers sitting on the furnace register to warm up, since he knew my feet would be freezing by the time I got home.

I have no children left at home. So hard, but I Counseled as a career and continue as a service to my community. I pass on your way of including your family ways in Shabbat planning. Many send thanks to “you” for your intelligence as a wife and working woman tips!

I just last night discovered your wonderful channel! I was raised Catholic/Christian, but have grown more agonistic in life personally, although I respect those who are religious (I just turned 70); still, I love tradition (and of course, food!) and appreciate your sharing your religious practices, customs and traditions with others of all faiths. After having watched several of your videos, I must say that I love your serenity; regardless of what you are doing, whether it's tying your scarf, preparing a Shabbat meal, or reciting your prayers, you seem to do it so effortlessly and seamlessly, and with such grace and composure! What is your secret? Shout out to Naomi: Those cupcakes look delicious! I learned to cook and bake at my Italian mama's knee. I remember those times as being very precious. Enjoy them!

Love seeing Chef Naomi! She handles the batter so professionally - she is clever, pretty, and very talented! Thinking that she might enjoy baking fruit tarts ...... Pastry cases filled with fresh fruit and glazed. And of course, pretty coloured macarons!
