It’s crazy how much of an imagination George Martin has, he puts so much detail to yeh characters and gives each king unique and specific characteristics that differs them apart

Aegon I conquered the realm. Aenys mishandled it. Maegor wrecked it. Jaehaerys I rebuilt it. Viserys I set it up to get wrecked again. Rhaenyra and Aegon II burnt it to the ground. Aegon III got depressed while other people patched it back up. Daeron I went off to Dorne and got killed. Baelor went full blown religious nutter. Viserys II actually knew what he was doing... for a single year. Aegon IV completely f***ed everything, literally. Daeron II acquired Dorne but also got stuck with his dad's mess. Aerys I was barely worth mentioning. Maekar was a great fighter, which was too bad for his brother. Aegon V hosted the worst family barbeque ever. Jaehaerys II ah... happened. and Aerys II went completely nuts and ruined everything.

It's worth pointing out that Robert Baratheon had Targaryen ancestry, as well. His grandmother was a Targaryen. Although many people (including Robert himself) may believe he won the crown by right of conquest, in reality his claim comes from his own Targaryen ancestry. This is part of the reason why none of the other great houses contested Robert's claim to the throne. The Baratheons were related to the Targaryens since the Conquest. In fact, Aegon I gifted Storms End to the Baratheons after the Storm King was defeated during the conquest. The Baratheons are considered the youngest of all the great royal houses of Westeros as they were not lords and held no titles prior to the Conquest. So it's quite ironic that it was a Baratheon that brought the Targaryen Dynasty to an end.

One would think this was a real Historical event, the attention to every minute detail and complexity, there was no glitch to the storyline. Such a powerful imagination from the author. G.R. R Martin.

This shows how much world history G.Martin really had and how seamlessly he created a believable backdrop whilst providing a fantasy world. That is no easy feat to allow a reader an escapism whilst using enough sources to make it feel real I truly enjoyed this video thank you

Wow had no idea there were so many Targaryens named Aegon and Viserys

so... the grandfather of Daenerys is Jaeaherys, the grandfather of Jaeaherys is Maekar, the grandfather of Maekar is Aegon IV, the grandfather and grandmother of Aegon IV are Daemon and Rhaenyra!

Honestly I thought the Targeryens ruled for over a thousand years... And I was mind blown to hear that the events in HOTD are happening only 70-100 years after Aegon's conquest.

If only the Targs prioritized their dragons growth and their children's growth and familial ties, and made it about the family as the seat of power instead of fighting over it... dragons may be fierce but they are stronger together, forged in fire and blood ... but alas.

thing is.. Robert Baratheon has Targaryen blood, Joffrey would be the first king with no Targaryen blood at all

this is nice and all, but it omits the fact that Rhaenerya did actually become reigning queen between Aegon II and Aegon III. I think it warrants mentioning that there actually was a queen on the throne, no matter how short her reign was

something you got incorrect in this video. rebellion didn't start after after lyanna kidnapping, it started months after that due to aerys action when he killed rickard and brandon stark(brandon deserved it for shouting come out and die to rhaegar when he went there basically committing treason), imprisoned elbert arryn and called for ned's and robert's head to be delivered to aerys by jon arryn. in fact, it was jon arryn who called the banners first in the rebellion

I have thoroughly read the articles of ASoIaF website so many times that I could correctly name almost all the Targ kings shown in the thumbnail.

I think the reign of Aegon the Unworthy the legitimization of the great bastards and the subsequent war that followed would make a great series. They should follow with that after they're done with the Dance of Dragons they wouldn't even need to change the name of the show.

Okay hear me out, daemon was looking out for his family, only Targaryen family is who he cared about. He saw the coming destruction of the Targaryen household which is why he completely tries to put house Targaryen forward and after he realized this isn’t going to happen he throws himself in battle to die idk but show daemon has me thinking he’s not all bad but only thinking of his family and their approval.

Man I wish they started house of the dragon at Aegean’s conquest and end it at Roberts rebellion with the battle of the trident.

What book can I read where house of the dragon first season left off

I hope the show ends with Roberts Rebellion. Everyone to see a show about it, but I don't think it's a long enough event to sustain an entire multi season series. It would have to be tied into another series or designed specifically as a 1 maybe 2 season miniseries and nothing more. But it'd be a fitting end to this show, which is supposed to chronicle the tragic downfall of House Targaryen. Makes sense to end with the event that officially overthrew them from power.

I see a lot of comments about why are there so many Aegon and this is because they were all trying to compete aegon prophecy which is (the song of ice and fire ) and all the stuff with the long night and the knight king

Aegon: build the realm, laid the foundations Aenys: peaceful and kind, but also so weak that the respect for house Targaryen wayned Maegor: restored the respect for his family and the crown but also so brutal that it damaged the realm. also OG mad King but I think he's cool Jaehaerys: healed the realm from Maegors reign but benefited from the respect he had thanks to Maegor Viserys: same as Aenys, his weakness caused the dance of dragons, has a phenomenal actor though Aegon 2: unclear due to not spoiling us (thx btw) ruled during the dance of dragons but the war wasn't really his fault (he is a piece of sh*t during the show though) Aegon 3: united the greens and blacks so that's something Daeron: conquered dorne uniting the 7 realms Baelor: really loves the gods (no surprise the literally looks like Jesus). also the episode in which Ned dies in named after him, so as an atheist and a Ned stand i don't like him Viserys 2: his reign was "quality over quantity" I guess Aegon 4: ugly, horny and an idiot. why not legitimize only 1 of his bastards, actually just realized he had regular sons so why legitimize any of them? didn't think that one through apperantly Daeron 2: brought dorne back without bloodshed which is cool but had a lame death. F-Tier (jk Im not ranking them). was kinda f*cked over by Aegon 4.'s lack of braincells Aerys: had a difficult reign but handled it pretty well. funny considering someone like Viserys 1. had a peaceful reign but still f*cked everything up, while others like Aenys or Daeron 2. had difficult reign but handled it like champs though they obviously had a lot of help but so did all Kings and getting competent help is a talent as well Mycar: Warrior King. i can respect that but you'll never be like Maegor or Daemon (show). you are worthless and deserved to die. do you guys realize that Im tired? it's 6 AM and Im still awake, certified gamer moment Aegon 5: Egg. I like eggs. you're making me hungry. good reign apperantly. fire can't kill a dragon yet he died in a fire. that's because Aegon 5. isn't a dragon he's an egg although Dragons hatch from eggs. don't think Dragon Eggs would taste good though, and I like the idea of Egg tasting good. like why would your name be Egg if he didn't taste good. he did die in a fire so he was probably more like a chicken egg which is good because they probably taste better than dragon eggs. not that I could know for sure how dragons taste I've never seen one. now Im tired and hungry Jaehaerys 2: finally were done with these blackfyres. like we get it you're cool but now you only exist in history books which isn't so cool. not as breathtaking as Egg but then again Egg is a deity beyond our understanding so I can't hold it against Jae 2.0 Aerys 2: BURN THEM ALL! Explain the dunk and egg novelas. I see "The hedge knight" , "The Sword Sword" and "The Mystery Knight". Were all of those combined in "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms"?

Best kings : Jaehaerys I, Daeron II and Aegon V. Worst kings : Maegor I, Aegon IV and Aerys II. Aegon I, Viserys I (more as Hand of the King) and Maekar I were also good kings. Rhaegar would have been an amazing king too 😔
