Great job Chris! Who in hell wants to go and buy a manual bead-breaker / tire changer for a tire or two? This is perfect for disposing of those two bald snow tires that someone probably has and doesn't know what to do with. Yeah, there are better ways, but in the heat of the moment you just have to be able to rely on your own two hands to get a job done. Awesome video. Thanks!

Question- does this ruin the tire? I have a basically brand new full spare tire under my truck that I want to use, and replace with an older tire...I mean why let it go to waste and dry rot under there? Id only need it for emergencies, so why not replace it with an older tire? Anyway, would this damage the tire?

well i tried running over tires it does work sometimes to break the beads. But i actually use either a high lift jack which can get expensive but if you want to go cheaper to bust the seal go to a junk yard find a car from the 70's ish that has a bumper jack. think i paid $5 for one and it works just as well as the high lift.

Great idea about using the jack to break the bead...
@DemonCoreGaming12 жыл бұрын
@illcrewtk this is good for steel rims because it wont damage them as long as you dont go beating on them with a hammer to get a screwdriver or crowbar in to them, i have done this on tractor tires my entire life, i do not recommend doing this to aluminum rims as they will easily bend the lip of the rim and make the tire leak.

no you can use the tire after this you just have to be careful expecially if you are using a screwdriver not to puncture the tire. might want to practice on a junk tire first so you get the hang of it

just gotta be carefull with it steel rims are not to bad when i do aluminum rims i usually take a wrap a rag or a towel aroud anything that will touch the rim. give it alittle padding

I have a wheel I'm trying to get the tire off of. The thing is, I've already cut most of the tire away. It's a wheel from a '98 Honda Accord. I managed to get one side off, but the other side has proven to be much harder. The rubber on the side of the wheel that faces inward goes down and meets the middle area of the wheel, but the rubber on the side that faces outward has an extra lip right before the middle of the tire, the power-tool hacksaw blade is missing, and the hand hacksaw I was using doesn't work efficiently enough. My main focus is trying to break the metal wire inside the part of the tire closest to where the tire meets the middle of the wheel. If you want, I can send you a photo for visual reference.

Oh, and the reason I'm removing the rims is that my dad is going to sell the aluminum wheels for money.

You can use a kind of tire lever with plastic/rubber on one side instead of the all-steal one. www.biltema.no/bil---mc/bilverktoy/dekktilbehor/dekkverktoy/dekkjern-med-plastbeskyttelse-2000038409

Nice job, there's some pacer truck rims at my local pull-a-part and I didn't think I had anything to get 'em but I should be able to find a jack and tire iron there when I go back tomorrow... though I may just bring a hacksaw, screw their tires, I just wanted the rims.
@UpcomingJedi9 жыл бұрын
So are you still sawing at the tires? I tried hacksawing one once to make some stilt shoes that would last long time. It took me just as long to cut through the tire plies. I gave up half way and just used a cutoff wheel.

Thanks for the jack usage tip, which will help me. :-) Here's a tip or three for you though. :-/ 1. Umm, the hand brake on that pik-erp: it operates on the back wheels, so even if you DID think to apply it, lifting the rear of the vehicle off the ground will diminish its function somewhat. Nobody ever jacks up a vehicle without chocking wheels, when the handbrake can't be applied. 2. Before attempting any job, get the right tools - or at least the best of what you already have. Using a jack lever instead of your hand might be smart. Ignoring the largest screwdrivers you have, much less a crowbar, and instead using a small/medium screwdriver? That's just weird. 3. Set a good example for your kid, as they absorb a lot more than you imagine - and it takes a LOT more to 'unlearn' a bad habit or bad example, that it takes to just do it right the first time. Wearing only socks in a workshop is a whole lot of dopey. Boots, fella. Boots.

You did both steps the hardest most dangerous ways! You or one of your viewers are going to end up seriously hurting them self with your Jack All idea. And to mount the tire on the bead just spray starter fluid into the tire and light it on fire... It is Easier, Faster, and less dangerous.
@DemonCoreGaming11 жыл бұрын
whats wrong with that
@oldtimer456710 жыл бұрын
Dude! You keep that method up and you can bet there's an injury in your future! Yeah it works, but an actual manual bead breaker/tire changer combo isn't going to cost any more than it will to fix up the injuries they you WILL eventually get. As to your comment "who wears shoes anymore?"...intelligent people who like having their toes.
@DemonCoreGaming10 жыл бұрын
I like that "intelligent people". Guess u think Cody Lunden for example is "unintelligent", and I guess u think every one that lived before the 17th century when the modern shoe was invented was stupid. Just for your information I graduated with honors, My sat scores are in the top 2% of my state. I have 3 collage degrees and a masters in auto mechanics, and computer programming. So one question for you how "intelligent" are you?
@antonlobanovskiy789310 жыл бұрын

man this guy (Chris Walker) kindly puts up a video on how to do something for dumb asses like myself, and all you do is chirp at him? like have some respect people. Yeah I thought it was kinda strange he just had socks on, but each to their own; obviously he is comfortable enough doing this without shoes. And if you want to give him some tips, at least make it constructive criticism; dont bash on irrelevant things such as his intelligence. So.. THANK YOU CHRIS, I will take this demonstration along with other demonstrations on youtube to formulate a way that works for me.

i just have alot of issue even determining if ive gotten the bead seperate from the rim. i usually run over the wheel or ill drop the break drum and the full force of my truck down on the tire to get it off and that looks like it works a little bit. what are the most basic tools i can work with on this? i have a tire tool, a flat head thats like a few inches long, weight, and thats it.not successful most of da time with this tho
