In this VFX compositing tutorial, we use Nuke to composite some interactive 2.5 Godrays (also sometimes called Volume Rays)
This uses a render from Blender, utilizing the position pass in order to generate screen space godrays sweeping across the environment. You can achieve this with any render engine alongside Nuke.

01:15 Basic Godray
02:20 Interactive Ground Godray
04:15 Godray on CG Position Pass
05:29 Adjusting CG Godrays

Pretty clever to go from the ground up. Instead of the GodRays node, you can also do a vertical blur and use a CornerPin to create the cone shape and place the light source.

Love your stuff, man. You have such a fresh take on Nuke tutorials with your creative findings. Building a Nuke Masterclass at my studio right now and your vids are my favorite to dig through for creative approaches to compositing.

@CompositingAcademy
@CompositingAcademy Жыл бұрын
Hey there, You can scale the noise with the grade control like shown in the video, otherwise check out this other video I did which uses expressions to do the same thing: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/att4f6p4yLfeqoE.html Cheers!

When I use the noise(r,g,b) expression the noise created has very different sizes depending on the objects in my scene. Is my position pass broke or something?
@CompositingAcademy
@CompositingAcademy 9 ай бұрын
Check if you're using a Position World pass or Position Object. Position object is relative to each object in the scene, versus being in world space. Position object also makes the noise "stick" to objects, even if they move. Position world the noise is placed within the 3d world space, so even if objects move, they move 'through' the noise.
@tripodgoblin887
@tripodgoblin887 9 ай бұрын
@@CompositingAcademy That's weird because I'm using World Position and the noise sticks to objects and have different sizes. I'm rendering with Redshift by the way. I'll try Position Object maybe they are inverted or something in Redshift.

There are some custom assets I made for this one, so I will release it once the next tutorial is out which will use them again. Also I didn't make the smoke clips so I can't redistribute those.
