Vidéo sur Katherine Switzer, la première femme a avoir couru un marathon en 1967. Avant cela, les femmes n'étaient pas autorisées à s'inscrire à des courses. Elle a utilité ses initiales pour se faire passer pour un homme.

Il s'agit d'un concept simple : placer un pied devant l'autre sur 26 miles (40 km). Pourtant, il y a 50 ans, la moitié de la population n'était pas la bienvenue dans les marathons.
Une matinée d'avril, la jeune Kathrine Switzer, 20 ans, a tout changé.
Journaliste " En 1967, aviez-vous décidé de combattre les inégalités homme-femme dans le milieu de la course à pied ?"
KS explique qu'elle voulait juste courir, elle avait prouvé à son coach qu'elle en était capable et elle voulait le célébrer. D'autres femmes avaient déjà couru le marathon de Boston, mais aucune n'était inscrite officiellement.
Son coach n'avait qu'une condition : qu'elle s'inscrive au marathon.
"Personne ne pensait qu'une femme pouvait ou voudrait courir, pourquoi l'envisager alors ?"
Pendant la course, un homme se jette sur Kathrine Switzer et la menace. Il était furieux et elle était terrorisée, il voulait la faire sortir de force de la course. Cette scène a été immortalisée et les photos symbolisent la lutte d'une athlète pour participer à une compétition.
Switzer a franchi la ligne d'arrivée ce jour-là et n'a jamais cessé de courir. D'autres femmes dans le monde ont suivi son exemple et ont commencé à courir.
Switzer a aujourd'hui 70 ans et a terminé son 40ème marathon. Elle veut maintenant prouver qu'une personne âgée peut rester en forme et active.

It's a simple concept. Place one foot in front of the other for 26 miles 385 yards, but until 50 years ago, half the population were not welcomed to participate in marathons. Then on a cold April morning, 20 year old Catherine Switzer changed everything.
"In 67, did you set out to shatter the glass starting line? I was just a girl who wanted to run. I proved to my coach, I could do it and I was just there to celebrate?
Other women had run the Boston Marathon, none officially.
Her coach had one condition : that she registered as a contestant.
"Nobody believed a woman could or would want to run. So why even consider it?"
A few miles into the race, an official name Jock Semple spotted her
"I turned and I suddenly looked into the face of the angriest guy I had ever seen."
This guy was out of control. He was snarling at me.
This now iconic series of photos came to represent a female athlete's struggle to compete
"He grabbed me and he screamed : get the hell out of my race. I was just terrified. It was out of the blue"
Switzer crossed the finish line that day and never stopped running. Following her example, women all around the world took up the sport. Today at 70 years old, Switzer ran her 40th Marathon. The higher reason. Now is not to prove that women can do it. The higher reason now is also to show, frankly, that an older person can stay active and healthy. I want to celebrate in the best possible way.
