This is the genius of Conan's comedy, Sex jokes from a man in his late 50s that are hilarious and don't offend anyone. This is George Carlin territory. The level of difficulty is enormous. There's maybe 6 guys that can pull this off and most not as well. Sona is the perfect audience because she is incapable of insincerity. It's like watching Mozart play the harpsichord.

I love how Matt Gourley held up the "WRAP?" sign and then Conan proceeded to simulate a three minute long sexual fantasy involving Amanda Seyfried as Elizabeth Holmes in a Walgreens. I wonder if Matt ever got his wrap. He looked hungry.

i went to NYC to see a taping of conan in the mid 90s, and he shook my hand while doing audience warmup.... i will never forget how he was gentle and looked into my eyes, because he knew i was nervous seeing him in his orange stage makeup ! love you conan !

Even when he could be taking a (totally legitimate and deserved) moment to enjoy the flattering comments to boost his ego, he still goes for the self deprecating joke out of his total dedication to getting a laugh, even if it’s just from Sona. I love this man so much. I can’t wait for the comeback on HBO Max, and I hope Needs a Friend never ends.

Imagine sitting in a theater watching a movie, and the characters on screen starting talking about you, the real-life you, debating your physical appearance and attractiveness. This very much could be the description of someone experiencing clinical psychosis. Believing everything around you somehow relates to you specifically is a symptom is called "delusions of reference". (As a nurse, I have experience with this.) Except this actually happened to Conan. Wow, it must've been so weird in the moment.

I've been watching Conan since I was about 9 or 10... I would sneak out to the living room after bed and watch his show. I absolutely adored him. I definitely developed a crush as I aged. I still find Conan attractive 25+ years later.
